No More J! On Channel 55
For those in the NY area, it seems that Channel 55 has replaced Jeopardy! with Frasier reruns.

it's been missing for quite a while on TV 10 / TV 55 (subscriber issues there). I'd have to say probably about a year. The website fails to recognize this though.legendneverdies wrote:WOnder if WHeel is still on there. J! is still on CHannel 7, so it's still cleared in NYC

No, I recorded it on their channel when I went to Italy 3 weeks ago.

I wonder if anyone noticed the difference ...Johnblue wrote:For those in the NY area, it seems that Channel 55 has replaced Jeopardy! with Frasier reruns.

TV 10 and TV 55 are effectively the same channel, just on DirecTV and Cablevision with different numbers. I have Cablevision, so I have Channel 10, and those Jeopardy runs have been replaced by Matlock.Johnblue wrote:No, I recorded it on their channel when I went to Italy 3 weeks ago.
I know at least 2012, 2011 have had no Jeopardy on at 5. (Believe me, I've looked. It's long gone from my TV's Guide programming.)

It was blacked out from some cable systems, who ran Matlock instead, but not all. However, now CBS has bought the station, and it's been dropped completely. for contractual reasons. A disappointment - you could always count on 55 not to pre-empt.

Thanks for the info, Davey. I thought I was imagining my pre-vacation DVRing! I usually record it on Channel 7 because in non-HD it looks pretty good but I liked the option of catching it earlier on 55 if necessary.

Back in the mid 80s, wHen CHannel 55 was WLIG, they showed reruns of PItfall(Alex Trebek's Canadian-based, US-aired game show that had problems paying contestants their winnings and Alex his paycheck when the production company went under) and Bill CUllen's syndicated nighttime $25K Pyramid.

I guess by dropping Jeopardy for Matlock they were going for a younger demographic.davey wrote:It was blacked out from some cable systems, who ran Matlock instead, but not all.
