2022 Current Events Study Guide

Post by Volante »

A thread for things that happen and are otherwise reported on during the year we think have a high chance of appearing on J! or LL

Past years:
2021: https://www.jboard.tv/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=5957
2020: https://www.jboard.tv/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=5498
2019: https://www.jboard.tv/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=5002
2018: https://www.jboard.tv/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=4492
2017: https://www.jboard.tv/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=3951
2016: https://www.jboard.tv/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=3355

So far nothing has happened. Let's keep this streak alive; only 364 days to go! :D

(But, really, keep the editorial chatter in the discussion thread: https://www.jboard.tv/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=6406 )

Have you ever wanted to write a book where Rabbit gets tired of Pooh mooching his honey so he shoots the the freeloading bear and leaves his bloody corpse on Christopher Robin’s front door?

Well, you’re in luck. Because now you can!!!

Maya Angelou is the first Black woman to be featured on a US quarter as part of the American Woman Quarters series

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-59946929
Coins are also planned this year for Sally Ride, the first female US astronaut; Wilma Mankiller, the first female chief of the Cherokee Nation and a campaigner for indigenous rights; and Anna May Wong, who is considered the first Chinese-American film star in Hollywood.
Which I found out for the first time from the BBC :D

Not mentioned in the article is the fact that the obverse of each quarter will be the right-facing George Washington design sculpted by Laura Gardin Fraser in 1931.
