Good to hear from our resident anthemologist about the softball DD!

I think the GBR's demise gets about as much hype as the honeybee/pollinator crisis. It figured to be a triple solve.
I picked up besmirch and travertine trash from the bottom row.
Today I only say positive things. Glad Amy got her bet back from yesterday.

I know we've had many homophonic categories between the two Jeopardy rounds ("See Life" and "'C' Life"), but is this the first time we've had a different homophonic category match in Final Jeopardy ("Sea Life") as well ?

I picture David just sitting there with his mouth agape.

P.S. Maria reminded me a little of Rashida Jones.

It was less that it was a softball that I was incredulous of and more that it was Canada! If there was a question tailored to me, in a category tailored to me, and it’s the Daily Double???

(And it’s not in *my* game?)

Nobody is even in the vicinity of Amy right now. Her DJ performances are jaw dropping. Even if you are in her vicinity after the Jeopardy round, she crushes your soul in DJ.

I think if she gets to 50, we will see attention shifting to her run at Ken Jennings, even if she is still five weeks away from pulling it off at that point.

Sad note for fans: Mark Roth died in Nov. 2021.
Happy note for bowling fans: This Saturday Tommy Jones, Sean Rash and Jason Belmonte will be in the finals.
Being a bowler myself (in my 42nd season), I was thrilled to have a bowling clue.

FWIW: Tommy Jones lives in my city and is one of the more famous residents. He used to bowl in my league when he was in high school...and when he went pro, he was just out of sight...winning PBA Rookie of the Year. He's done so well, he was able to build a house for his parents and he and his wife live in one of the nicer neighborhoods here, all on his bowling earnings.

One of the staff members at my bowling house recently passed away and his family didn't have much savings to pay for a funeral. Several events were held to raise money to pay for it; Tommy Jones donated a new bowling ball for a raffle.

How's bowling doing where you live? Here bowling alleys are few and far between these days. Still a fun sport that nearly anyone can enjoy and I'm not sure why its popularity has dropped off. I figure it's due for a resurgence.

There are still 3 bowling alleys in my little burg of100,000 here in flyover country, but another did close down a few years ago. Now that they’re all non-smoking, they are a good source of family-friendly, all-season fun.

But the good news is that it wasn’t *your* game, so you weren’t up against Amy.

There are a couple of things working against bowling in the modern era. Cost is a major factor. Many recreational bowlers don't want to spend almost the cost of a movie to bowl one game...plus throwing in shoe rental, a night at the bowling center can be an expensive one. For those who bowl in leagues, the cost to bowl each week keeps going up (lineage plus prize fund in money leagues), to the point that many just drop out.

A bigger obstacle may be the competition for entertainment; younger people don't seem as interested in bowling as used to be the case when I was a youngster. At the bowling center where I bowl, the traditional Saturday morning youth leagues have gone the way of the dodo. So, as older bowlers either retire from the sport or pass away, there aren't many younger bowlers coming in to take their place in leagues.

It's still a top participation sport...and you'll probably always have a group or family who want to go up to their local bowling house to bowl a couple of games together. But sadly, it appears bowling is past its prime.

I will continue to bowl until I can't do it anymore but over the years, my scores have declined and I'm not nearly as good now as I used to be. I enjoy the competition with some of the best bowlers in our area, still trying to improve my skills and every once in a while, I still have nights where I am up there with the big boys...it's just that those nights aren't as frequent as they used to be.

I've been meaning to ask this--and nothing against Amy or Matt Amodio--but is there a reason they are not repeating anymore Trebek-era shows? They skipped so many on the reruns. We watch the Saturday repeats. WOF has been showing last season's games, but Jeopardy hasn't. That had always been the tradition. They've been showing Matt's games for several weeks and now I can only assume they will air Amy's next. I mean, I enjoyed their games, but it's not fun when you've just watched the episode. Give me time to forget the clues.

Just a guess, but they may be trying to move on from the Alex era.
