Re: Friday, January 28, 2022 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
That was quite a montage with Ken summarizing all the S38 champs.
Ken made me laugh with the King Ralph reference for Jay's Edward I chat.
I knew enough to get the reversal clue right, though not enough to realize not to neg myself and expect the scoring change.
5/5 for me on DAD TV for a good mixture that made contestant have to know something to score the bottom clues.
If Carrie had solved DD3 she still would have trailed 13600 to 13000 while Jay's wallet could have been fatter.
The FJ! clue had me match Carrie and Jay with the pen down before the music started.
My precall game was off with James Taylor and Carole King.
Two clues not played today with too many errors & TS clues.
Mayim hosts on Monday.

Jay took a chance on being forced into a buzzer race on a tie game; I'm wondering if he just didn't like the category.
Total game show career losings = $171,522

I'm 99% certain Ken briefly dwelled on the FJ! fact in a recent episode of Omnibus, but I can't pinpoint it.

For some reason I got snagged on Springsteen and couldn't un-snag.
Then when he said John Denver was correct, I was racking my brains trying to figure out how "Take Me Home, Country Roads" could possibly have a drug reference.

Confused? You won't be after you watch the show. Those who immediate fast forward from start of the show to the category reveal will miss it.squarekara wrote: ↑Fri Jan 28, 2022 5:07 pmMarkBarrett wrote: ↑Fri Jan 28, 2022 1:41 pm That was quite a montage with Ken summarizing all the S38 champs.

As someone who lives in Denver, FJ was pure LOL.
Verrrrrrry interesting on the lock-tie strategy.

Re: Friday, January 28, 2022 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
Let’s not make the pre-game montages a regular thing. I’d hate to be $200 down going into FJ when one clue was unplayed because they ran out of time. (But I’d love to be ahead by $200 in that scenario).
Carrie started out like she was going to run away with it but then fell back.
I wonder if she started with Bob Dylan or she confused the Denver brothers.
Music isn’t my strong suit (though this was better than 2010s singer-songwriters), I’m betting the buck in FJ. And I got it right.

I remembered the last time John Denver was the correct FJ response and that made it easy.
Oh, what has science wrought? I sought only to turn a man into a metal-encased juggernaut of destruction powered by the unknown properties of a mysterious living crystal. How could this have all gone wrong?

Re: Friday, January 28, 2022 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
Did they really knock 25 seconds off their game clock to make room for this montage? Or do they give the same amount of time to all regular season players and make the necessary adjustments in post?

Best I could come up with for FJ was Glenn Frey.

I had the same reaction! And that song is one of West Virginia's four official state songs.TenPoundHammer wrote: ↑Fri Jan 28, 2022 4:51 pm Then when he said John Denver was correct, I was racking my brains trying to figure out how "Take Me Home, Country Roads" could possibly have a drug reference.

Re: Friday, January 28, 2022 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
I went with Peter Yarrow, mostly because I'm apparently really bad at knowing songs that are supposed to be about drugs, and I couldn't think of any other. No idea why it would be a state song, though !

Not that it mattered, but I’m pretty sure Carrie left off the “r” in Denver.

Oh, what is this PGA Golf Tour nonsense?
