Ken seemed to be doing a set at a comedy club with that extended opening.

For those who have been waiting to see it, today was the day to see Mattea's outfit that has been on the J! site for this week on J! since day one.

A Zelensky clue.

The FJ! category had me thinking it has to be too soon for Don Quixote, so probably something Russian.

The FJ! clue had me match Caitlin for the short cut which I knew had to be acceptable.

If Mattea bets to cover Sarah's possible 24800 then Mattea would have 16799 on a miss. Caitlin sole-solved the clue and did 9800+2000. Enjoy your $2000 and the haunting what-if game.

Programming alert: the NFL Draft is on Thursday and Friday (also Saturday) on ABC, so be ready for delays getting the show in the West. For the East you will be affected on Friday as the Draft comes on at 7ET instead of 8 like on Thursday.

I will never understand how so many people who are very book smart have less than zero clue. I might laugh for a week over this. And then cry for another week that this person got picked for the show and I can't. I've probably got a better chance if I dye my hair some unusual color.

Daily Doubles
Mattea: 600+1000
Mattea: 6600+3200
Mattea: 12600+3000

Coryats
Mattea: 16200
Caitlin: 9800
Sarah: 12400
And as an aside, Mattea had the highest Coryat, successfully concerted all three DD's, and because of most sub-optimal wagering still failed to lock the game.

Seriously, I don't see why it's so hard to play a simple game somewhat optimally.

Ah, yes. Dessert Stories. My favorite is Rum Baba and the Forty Thieves.

All I have to say about FJ wagering - Canadian conspiracy. JK!

Would 1001 Arabian nights be acceptable for FJ?

That opening bit was fun and looonnng.

"After dinner" had me wandering aimlessly in the dessert for some time too, but then I came around to realizing that "Western" was the real hint. After I got rid of the Analects and the Upanishads and moved to the right part of the world, the solution clicked into place and the "after dinner" hint started to make sense.

I guess the Jeopardy gods read this board because I got to see it play out today.

Basic rule of wagering when you are behind is to determine the leader’s MSBIW and then get above that score. I get it might not be your category and you are facing a nine day champ and a bookworm and you need both to miss. But you play to win the game.

Not the slightest idea what they were looking for with this clue. I made up some book called Digestion.

luck is the most important variable to a Jeopardy win. Congrats on win #10!

Four double-digit game winners set for this year's ToC!

Also, Galveston and WIchita are/have been in recent clues, IIRC.

So A Hero Is Born is, The Legend of the Condor Heroes. Great story. Tons of memorable characters.

Strongly recommend the 80s series from Hong Kong over the recent adaptations.

The draft is next week, April 28, 29, 30...

I latched onto "collection" and went with The Decameron, which I believe is after-dinner stories...Then at about :28, I registered what "Western" signified...

Made the correct guess off the double TOMs of "western" and "after dinner". Wasn't particularly confident, but wasn't entirely surprised when I turned out to be right.

Anything happen while I was gone? Have they made Ken the official host yet?

What Sarah keeps is a bibliography, not a journal.

Was there a secret Jimmy Webb theme going in that category? Among his big hit songs

Wichita Lineman
Galveston
MacArthur Park
By the Time I Get to Phoenix

And his song "Highwayman" contains references to Hoover Dam.
