U.S. Government Agencies
Its seal shows a 16-pointed star, symbolizing the search for information, on a shield symbolizing defense.

I was surprised that today's FJ wasn't a triple get. Even I-- a regular eleventh grader-- got it!

Lots of easy answers were tripping me up, including Buenos Aires, gondola, helicopter, galleon, Isabella, vampire, Tim Burton, Hannibal Lechter, differential. The words were in my head, but I couldn't get them to my mouth.

Mousse cost me a 5/5 in Sweet. Once again, I've never been in a situation where I've seen one on a menu, eaten one, etc., so I knew lierally only that it's a dessert. Not what goes into it, how it's prepared, etc.

Songs Old and New was an easy 5/5, helped immensely by the bottom two being country. I'm actually surprised Kenny Chesney wasn't a TS, since he doesn't come up often, and "Reality" had about the smallest crossover of any #1 country hit in recent memory.

Conversely, total 0/5 in Sports. Nothing sounded remotely familiar, or unique to any particular sport.

I had literally nothing on FJ!

29/30 in the J! round. It seems like every year, there's one friggin' clue that just laughs at me; for this year's entry, I have never, in my life, heard of the foam on top of champagne being called 'mousse', and I kinda froze when I heard that, thinking "...what?!" The elusive 30/30 will be mine. Someday...

Instaget FJ. Wasn't 100% confident (didn't remember what their seal looked like), but "search for information" sounded like intelligence gathering to me, and Alex's comments were a relief.

I was 30/30 in J!, but missed out in DJ, not knowing the Taylor Swift song (I guessed Beyonce), ending 59/60.

That's insane.

Every time I get into the 20s on a Kids' or Teen Week, I end up choking badly in DJ! I remember one Kids' game where I only got 12 right in DJ!

Had Homeland Security in FJ. "Defense" got me thinking of cabinet departments.

Nice FJ bets by all. Jeff pretty much had to bet big and the two girls made sure they finished no worse than second place.

I really liked this board. It was well-written and hit a good difficulty level for the Teen Tournament. The boards that were used in last year's Teen Tournament were excellent, so I am hoping that the trend will continue. I just don't understand why the quality can't carry over to more difficult regular show boards more often.

I got FJ after about 5 seconds. The Department of Homeland Security was my first instinct but then the light bulb came on.

Easy for me, but a lot of this reaches things I studied at the beginning of my school year/last year and I needed a good refresher. Got FJ easily, but of course wasn't 100% certain. I was trying to see if it was more difficult than it sounded, but couldn't think of a different answer than the CIA.

the boards were nicely appropriated for the kids. Many of them made it seem like you were back in HS with science and kings/emperors.

When I saw the FJ category, I immediately pre-called CIA, FBI, and the FDA. I mean...., what other gov't agencies can you think of off the top of your mind as a mid-teen?

Also, I was glad the kid on the left didn't make it. I never like these contestants who have such an ego in their respective first appearance on J!. Maybe it has to do with the private schooling Conn. kid.... hmm

Um, pretty much what Bamaman said with Homeland Security.

Went back and forth between NSA and CIA before deciding on CIA.

Likewise. I decided (or rather, I decided that the writers would have decided) that NSA would be a bit tough for the Teen Tournament, and went with CIA.

Entertaining game, although I was hoping someone would get the wrestling question. If I ever get on the show I can only hope I get an amateur wrestling or MMA category.

For FJ, after debating FBI/CIA/Anything else I went with CIA.

Heading out to watch this episode right now. Can't wait! A friend has a two week long party every year for the Teen Tourney. Lots of good times - everyone's shouting out answers and giving high fives. I expect a lot of laughs and a couple of tearful moments. Gonna be grand!

At last, watching "American Dad" pays off.

CIA seal, with shield and 16-pointed star, for reference:

I have no idea what you saw to provoke that comment. If he displayed an ego, it seemed of normal size to me. Not that there was a vast amount of evidence. (BTW, what is a "respective first appearance"?)

Thought of Homeland Security first, Justice even flitted through my mind, then I remembered the category...
