12 triple stumpers plus a shot at a DD. Plus the champ missed FJ. That should give you a shot, right? Technically, yes. If you got EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THESE and you went all-in on the DD, you'd have $14,200 going into FJ. That's exactly half Ryan's score of $28,400. If you want, you can also deduct the $2000 Ryan picked up on DD1 from his pre-FJ score and assume that wouldn't have affected his wager on DD2. (It probably wouldn't have.) That knocks him down to $26,400 and gives you a little breathing room. Lots of luck. CORRECT RESPONSES

$6000 (assuming I kept my mouth shut on my guess of 2002 for the Burgess novel) and a George on FJ.
I have to think at least one of the players knew that amino acids make up protein. I suspect that under the lights they just couldn't untangle what the clue was looking for in time.
Hickory, Boston (then Sanders), and Malaysia (if you count saying Indonesia and then rebounding after it gets negged). I said "2002" for the Burgess and realized there was a better choice a little too late (though before Mayim said it); I said "organic compound" for the titin clue, which I think would have gotten a BMS that I couldn't have responded to. I got Holden Caulfield.

Yep, rebounds count in fourth podium play, at least in my opinion. The conceit is that you can't get a buzz in edgewise unless no one else is trying. So Carissa scooped you on that embarrassing Indonesia neg (and Ryan delayed you with his guess of an island in the same country) before you got to look smart when you finally buzzed in with Malaysia.
I don't like your chances for a BMS on that "organic compound" response. It's not on Mayim's card, so she'd give you a straight neg which the judges would let stand. With Ken as host, you'd have a shot. Since you wouldn't have converted, that just extends the pain, of course.
Yeah, I'm nowhere close. Doesn't matter that for Final I zeroed in on Of Mice and Men.
Oh, what has science wrought? I sought only to turn a man into a metal-encased juggernaut of destruction powered by the unknown properties of a mysterious living crystal. How could this have all gone wrong?
