A polar bear? Back in my day it was a man in the center of the game for the clue when the players did not break the bank, going 0/3 with two misses.

Mayim brought up LL for Shayan's chat. His Geography? .439 through D & E after his rookie season.

An actual tri-get!

I matched Shayan's correct spelling as I connected the dots like the players and had plenty of time to make sure I did not need to go with a neighbor.

New J! and new TPIR on Monday to celebrate the holiday.

All that was needed is "European possession Amazon". The rest was just noise.
If that wasn't a triget, then I would've lost all hope for J!

Logical, yes. Optimal, no. David forfeited any chance to win on a TS. If you're going to do that might as well wager everything. And his DD wagers were quite lacking.

It's about time I got another Final Jeopardy! right. Maybe I'll make it to 10 right by the end of 2022.

Anyone else go from getting two straight ts in fj to whiffing on a triple-get the next day?

Given the scores, her cross necklace, her anecdote mentioning church, and her doing well in the category to that point, I think Eleanor should have gone TDD on DD3.

Definitely. When she entered FJ with not quite a runaway, I wondered if she was going to regret that cutesy wager.

I truly would have been shocked had this not been a triple get. South America, French possession? Gee, what could that be? Lots of Kavh trash for me tonight.

Eleanor's endgame getting $3600 on the last two clues did my fellow E rundle Llaman in :(. I even knew the last two clues (Fried Green Tomatoes and Deliverance) so I'm sure Shayan did too. David may have had a pittance of a payday for his day's work, but he gets to claim "Jeopardy champ" on his CV and money can't buy that :).

I still have a sixth grade geography foundation so I managed to overthink it and answer Suriname. I learned about French Guyana and Dutch Guinea (or something like that). I remember that Jim Jones' Kool-aid party was in one of them. No regrets, no remorse - I will spend that 5 minutes studying a new map right after I get around to changing the baking soda in my refrigerator.

I couldn't unpack that Geometry clue in real time. I never heard of the lead-chamber process for making H2SO4. Mayim pronounced Fritz Haber's name wrong in the Haber-Bosch process. It is pronounced "Haw-ber", and Bosch doesn't usually get name-checked. It might be understandable since she also pronounced Fried Green Tomatoes instead of "tomahtos"

Nope. The Jim Jones incident (Flavor-Aid, NOT Kool-Aid) happened in the third one -- Guyana. And it's French Guiana.

Flavor Aid party actually. That happened in regular Guyana (à la "regular Virginia" from March 2) which was already a country in its own right. To its east was Dutch Guiana (note the switch from y to i in case it ever comes up in a spelling category) which is now the independent country of Suriname (official language is still Dutch). Then to the east of that is French Guiana (again with an i) which is the only part of South America that's still part of a European country, making this clue a complete WECIB for those who know that fact. I was a little thrown by the word "possession". That's not how I'd describe French Guiana, though I suppose it's not wrong. It just made me think of something more like American Samoa or Guam, which are possessions of the United States without having the full rights that states have. My understanding of French Guiana is that it's more like Hawaii. The people are full French citizens with full voting rights etc.

Since French Guiana is a full part of France, many boardies took exception to this FJ from March 13, 2014:

AT 4,000 MILES, THE FARTHEST-APART CAPITALS OF BORDERING COUNTRIES ARE THESE 2 CITIES, ONE ON A PENINSULA
The accepted response
Moscow and Pyongyang, but Brasilia and Paris are 5400 miles apart. However, neither is on a peninsula, making this a clue with technically no correct response.
Since you're too lazy to find a map, I lugged one over here. All you have to do is point your eyes in its direction:

Oh, and while we're at it:
