Re: Pluto TV to launch 24/7 J! channel
I guess the game that aired between the two Kids Week games won't be shown if it is just random games.
If they aren't going to just start from the beginning I wish they'd focus on tournaments.

Re: Pluto TV to launch 24/7 J! channel
My guess is the first episode they show is September 10th, 1984.MinnesotaMyron wrote: ↑Wed Jul 27, 2022 2:15 am21 is a safe guess.
The Alex Trebek clip in the promo ("You guys were so dazzled...") comes from show #4624 - Thursday, October 14, 2004 (HOCKEY for $1000), which is indeed a Ken Jennings game.
They might show September 11th, 1984 (3-way loss) but then they skip to the Season 2 premiere where they changed the rule to where contestants could no longer interrupt the host while the clue is being read outloud.
One thing to keep in mind is the way promos work is they're limited in scope (in this case, 30 seconds) in terms of what they can put in the promo (in this case, Frank Spangenberg, Leslie Miller, Bernie Cullen and Brad Rutter among others aren't in the promos but that doesn't mean that when the channel debuts tonight they actually don't show their respective episodes)
Another example is the Judge Judy channel Pluto recently launched. In the promos they showed in the promos the very end of her run (which was Seasons 23-25) however, when the channel debuted they actually began with the first couple seasons of her run.
One other possibility I can see happening is that both channels show the classics during the week but then show the more recent stuff (within the last 5-10 years) on the weekends. We'll just have to wait and see what happens tonight.

Welp you were right.
Been checking and it did not launch at 12am Eastern they might have meant to say 3am Eastern (which is Midnight Pacific)

Re: Pluto TV to launch 24/7 J! channel
Just seeing it now looks like the episode that was somehow titled "September 10th, 1984" is not the actual episode it's from one of the Pilot episodes.JeopardyFan#9821 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 01, 2022 3:12 am However, a lot of episodes are now on demand:

So it looks like we might be starting off with not even the first actual episode but rather one of the pilot episodes.
EDIT: Looks like it's all of the Season premieres that were from Netflix as well as a few other things Sony had already digitized so far. Same with the episodes Sony has already digitized for its sister show.
Keep in mind that the episodes that Sony has already digitized is not going to be the only ones Pluto is going to show so I wouldn't take them as an indicative of the only ones that Pluto will be able to show. I firmly believe there will be other episodes as well once the channels fully activate themselves (which by my estimate is at the earliest 2 hours a way) but the fact that both channels already have On Demand spaces tells me that it won't be delayed by a day or two.

Re: Pluto TV to launch 24/7 J! channel
^I personally would not, and am not going to, stay up another hour to test that hypothesis. The press release said hundreds of episodes for both J! and Wheel, which would be met by the on demand episodes, and they did something similar with Supermarket Sweep, where all the episodes were on demand, but Pluto just pulled episodes from the catalog and looped them for a 24/7 stream without any additional episodes.
I could be wrong, but I’m fairly certain what you are seeing on the On Demand section is what you’re getting.

Re: Pluto TV to launch 24/7 J! channel
I thought it was odd yesterday when they didn't have a spot on their grid for J and WOF with "Coming soon" on the listings.
It is now August 1 in the UTC -12 time zone, so the entire world is now awaiting today's debut.

It's on Pluto channel 1005 (WoF is on 1010). They're airing the episode from February 13, 2013, which is already in the archive as show #6543.

Re: Pluto TV to launch 24/7 J! channel
Right now they're airing #6546, which they have misdated as (Friday) February 15, 2013, when in fact the game (2013 Tournament of Champions quarterfinal game 4) aired the following Monday, February 18, 2013. (They got the episode number right.)
After they finish the 2013 ToC, they're scheduled to air the 2015 Tournament of Champions.
I wonder if we should start a "What's on the Pluto TV channel today?" thread.

Re: Pluto TV to launch 24/7 J! channel
I tested out a few video capture deals on this end ahead of time, and have something now that'll do the job nicely. All we need now are episodes that haven't already been on Netflix and Hulu, as I've already got those in my collection. Here's hoping that someday we'll get nice blocks of games from the first 20 seasons.jeff6286 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 11, 2022 10:26 pmI just assume that should unArchived episodes actually appear, MarkBarrett will be strapped to his chair and be Archiving 24/7 for as long as needed, Clockwork Orange-styleopusthepenguin wrote: ↑Mon Jul 11, 2022 9:20 pmIf Pluto gives us a schedule (or if one is inferrable) and I'm given a heads up, I may be able to record some needed episodes as they stream.MarkBarrett wrote: ↑Mon Jul 11, 2022 8:56 pmCan you point to an episode on YT, DM, IA, Drive etc. not in the archive?
