Johnny Gilbert is 94 today, not that there was any mention of it on the show.

It brought a smile to my face to instantly recognize Doc Brown's house from the image shown. Another image of the billiards stick had me laughing as the correct response sure ain't one of the terms my friends and I would call it.

Steve opened and ran QUOTING THE KING JAMES BIBLE for +$4000 thanks to the DD in the $1000 box. Steve had a runaway after DD2 while Emily kept coming after him and had a chance to take the lead on DD3.

Not living up to her last name, Fiasco, Emily doubled 14 large for the big pay day.

During think time it seemed like Emily had the FJ! clue solved for sure while Steve looked lost. I wonder if my 1st-3rd precalls of MN, NH or NY would have gone any better for the introduced from VA champ?

For me I matched Emily for a quick no-doubter.

I try never to joke about a WAG, as it's always better than a blank screen or just a ?.

Buuuuut I chuckled mightily when I made this same analyzation.

I don't know what you're talking about. I will now go gentle into that good night. :D

I will certainly never understand how an adult who passes the test multiple times can make that wager, especially in a binary situation such as this.

Small quibble now that the game is on the archives, but I reeeeeally do not like the wording of J16:

Punta Cana is along the eastern shore of the island of Hispaniola & of this country

It made me think they were looking for a country to the west of Punta Cana AS WELL AS Hispaniola, not the nation that occupies the Eastern half of it. I feel this was trickier than it should have been.

I spent literally ten minutes trying to figure out what "that state" was referring to, because there was no obvious grammatical antecedent.

57 R (Missed the Bottom Three in TV Comedy.)
DD: 3/3
FJ:

Almost said Glendower for Welsh Folk $200, said "Why would they use it as a $200 clue?", then read the rest of the clue and realized what they were going for.

Another question crossover this week. French Bulldogs, also used as an answer on America Says this week.

I'm with you Golf, I can't figure out contestants' wagers either. Any wager between $3,700 and 6,599 seems optimal to me, but hey I didn't pass the test! Maybe it's the bright lights? Or that it's potentially real money?

This clue is a syntactical muddle. Mrs P and I both figured it out by keying in on the juxtaposition of "famous quote by an ancient Greek", "name of a city", and "state mottos". (We're from that state, so it was easier.) Having settled on Eureka, it was possible to analyze the tortuous syntax and confirm that this was indeed what the clue was asking for. But I wouldn't want to have to work my way forward starting with the clue's wording and trying to figure out what the heck they wanted.

I got 32R tonight, and missed 3. Got laconic, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Neil Simon and instaget on FJ.

I would probably not have gotten "laconic" were it not for my mother growing up outside the small town of Snow Hill, North Carolina, where the newspaper was called The Standard Laconic

I live in California so I wasn’t missing this FJ
Interesting wagering again tonight (though it worked out this time for the second place contestant)
