Re: Friday, October 12, 2012 Game Recap & Discussion (SPOILERS)
Stephanie won the week, bet $1K on the last clue of DJ!, the second DD, for a lock tie if right, but was wrong. She wagered a little more than expected from the lead, but FJ! was a triple stumper.

Congrats to Stephanie on win 5! Glad we get another week with you.
Near instaget FJ! but then I was worried because a) the clue was in past tense, making me wonder if the person had passed away, and b) they seem to ask about him an awful lot.

Spent the thirty seconds going through directors, ended up picking John Huston.

I thought it was someone from the past due to the wording. My guess was Selznick but I don't think he lived all that long.
Slower show than the rest of the week and that awkward Dating Game story should give hope to anyone trying out for the show in the future.

uh oh-- where's the pretty red outfit? I hope that's not an omen!
Cool "waltz word" last name on the middle contestant!
Way to hang in there, Dr J! Victory by attrition!
(I came up with "Orson Welles" at the last second, and felt pretty good about it!)
In retrospect, I was right. As soon as I missed Monday's, I knew this was going to be a bad week. This makes my 3rd miss.
Mark will probably use his psychic powers and select three extras I missed too!

Figured FJ was a director. I also guessed at John Huston because of the actors in the family, although I didn't think he was nominated so many times. Surprised Woody was nominated for acting.

Will Stephanie become only the second woman, other than Larissa Kelly, in the nine years of unlimited appearances to win more than five regular games? We'll see Monday.

Oh my, Stephanie! Congratulations on your *fifth* win... the Steamroller rolls on....
Alas, I didn't get to see you tonight, because my local affiliate (Boston) pre-empts "Jeopardy!" on Friday evenings to show some nitwit Patriots pre-game show.
So proud of you! When I met you at my second day of filming, I had a feeling you'd do well.
Okay, maybe not *this* well, but congrats again... hope you slide in a Tournament of Champs episode later on.
And I totally missed FJ --- had to go visit St. Google to figure it out.

I went through people who I knew and while trying I wrote down Ron Howard and stuck with it. I couldn't think of another person.
Congrats, Steph, we finally broke this season rut of 3-time champs or less. - Five days is nothing to laugh at though.

14 right in both rounds. Ran Geographic Abbreviations and Good to the Last "Drop" (guess the Maxwell House sponsorship on Wheel is spreading!), but Aztec kept me from running North American Languages. (I can never keep Maya/Inca/Aztec straight.) My only clam was Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
Not a clue on FJ!, but Allen seemed to make sense after the fact.

Rejected Disney and went for Welles, though I couldn't think of nearly that many nominations for him. What a crappy week, but it was all Stephanie all the time, so that was a very good thing, indeed. Congrats, Stephanie. Go get that Volt!

Nominated for Annie Hall. A whopping 15 of his nominations are for writing, all for Best Original Screenplay. This was an instaget for me; a similar question popped up a while ago at pub trivia and it was just the most logical conclusion. The Academy loves Woody, even though he doesn't love it. (he's never picked up any of his awards in person)Leander wrote:Figured FJ was a director. Instaget FJ.
Dr. J, were you specifically wagering your lead over Matt, or just shooting for $20,000? You got off scot-free, but it's a cautionary tale for those who might consider betting more than the "cover second by a dollar" amount. Because Jennifer got FJ wrong, you dodged a bullet that she wasn't even aiming at you!

Re: Friday, October 12, 2012 Game Recap & Discussion (SPOILERS)
Stephanie's downward spiral continues. Tonight both her trailing opponents were in contention going into FJ. One day soon she'll have to get FJ right just to win, and I don't like those odds.
