Americana
The creator of this comic strip did not like its 1950 change in title, believing it suggested insignificance.

Historic moment time. Alex says she ties the record number of wins for a woman with seven, but since Larissa Kelly only won six games in her original run, Stephanie's seven is the new record.

0/5 in 29 and Holding and Sport.

Precalled TVA in New Deal since it was the only New Deal program I could remember. It and Chicago were my only gets. (Almost said Medicare on $200, clammed on FCC, and had no idea what the FDIC does.)

Listerine was my only miss in Brands, since I wasn't sure if it'd be them, Scope, Lavoris, or any of the other 25 brands of mouthwash.

Being a brony helped once again. I had seen the word "fetlock" before on a TV Tropes page pertaining to MLP:FIM, and it helped me run "Ock".

Also 0/5 on Best Sellers. I actually read part of Squirrel Seeks Chipmunk at Target, but never paid attention to the author's name.

What was the obvious pointer to Tipper Gore on Online for $400?

Stubborn Words seemed upside-down. "Obstinate" and "tenacious" surely seemed a hell of a lot more accessible than "mulish", which I've never heard before.

Accidentally moused-over (trackpadded-over?) the FJ! response when rechecking the New Deal category, but I'm counting it as a get. "Comic strip" + "1950" by itself would have been enough to get me to Peanuts, never mind that I already knew about Schulz's dissatisfaction with its title.

2nd Lady from Tennessee.

Insta-get FJ, although I had no idea what the original name of Peanuts was (I would have just guessed Charlie Brown).

Ah, that may be it. I didn't grok that "2nd lady" meant "vice president's wife". I also had a brain fart and forgot briefly who Al Gore is.

Did good today, but I have to admit I've never heard "mulish" either. "Asinine" was the only thing I could think of but that was clearly wrong.

Stephanie rolls on.

Ho hum, congrats once again, Stephanie. But especially for catching Larissa. That's quite an achievement.

Today's Shout Ats of the Day: Panama and Fantastic Voyage.

I knew Peanuts was Little something, but all I could pull was "People" instead of "Folks". That would have been a much tougher FJ like that.

Mega-congrats Dr. J. That is by far an impressive record-breaking performance.

I had two ideas at the immediate start, Peanuts and Family Circus (based on the clue, I couldn't remember when FC debuted) I went with Peanuts instead because it was definitely at least older. Aside from Ken Jennings and David Madden, what is the record for most runaways in a champion's run?

My approximate response to Stephanie's DD: "Who is Aretha Fr-NOOOOOOOOOOOO, who is Carole King!!?"

Family Circle/Circus -- 2/29/60
Peanuts -- 10/2/50

FC is still in production, though, so it's got a longer original run now.

Congrats to the Smiling Steamroller for winning yet again! Great job Stephanie --- again, it was a delight to have met you on my second day of filming, and again, so glad I didn't have to go up against you.

Speaking of filming, I was happy to see Carlos have his chance tonight. He was at my taping day of July 25th, and was one of those alternate players kept in reserve... so he didn't play that day but he got to see at least four shows being taped. A sweet, charming fellow.

The FJ tonight was an Instaget for me... and what's more disgusting (according to the missus) I knew the original name of Schulz's strip: "L'il Folks."

Alas, didn't get a chance to catch much of tonight's episode --- we had a very unusual and very strong earthquake of 4.6 magnitude just over the border in Maine, and our house shook, rattled and rolled (thought the windows were going to break) and our dog jumped off the couch, barking. So "Jeopardy!" got pre-empted and phones were ringing.

Looking forward to tomorrow's episode, Steph!

Disappointed Forks Over Knives was a Triple Stumper even after they made the clue "Forks Over _____". Everybody should know about this diet. It took me 15 years to be convinced it was beneficial and practicable. Now I believe it's essential. So does Bill Clinton, and, we learned today, James Cameron...

When I saw the two opponents, I had a feeling this would be a runaway. Nicely done. There were a couple of TSs that were surprising & I was stunned that the one on the end didn't know Colombia/Panama answer.

As for "forks over knives" blah blah blah. I've done better just eating less & walking every day.

Peanuts never came to me, went with Lil Abner.

Another big day for Tennessee on the show, TVA, Chattanooga Choo Choo and Tipper Gore.

Congrats to Steph on win #7.

Does any station in Florida air Jeopardy! that late?

Brian
...but the senator, while insisting he was not intoxicated, could not explain his nudity.

If I had 50 cents for every math question I got right, I'd have $6.30 by now.
