I wish there was an official app like that to play along with regular Jeopardy!

And, CrunchyTaco, I share your concerns, but that's really the only way (or at least the superior way) to do a play along that's computer-judged

The app idea is great. I really hope they bring that to the regular game soon.

also, I hope the "Think!" music is just the song from the 10-second commercial: "SPORTS! JEOP-AR-DY! SPORTS! JEOP-AR-DY!"

The official sports jeopardy app is cool. I have it for Android. It's pretty fun, but I've only played it a couple times. I should have known something like this was coming with the release of that app. I'm really excited about this, can't wait until they release casting details.

The sports jeopardy app does allow a write-in mode. It works pretty well, although it's tough on the phone to answer in the time limit, especially if you get autocorrected to something different than what you intend.

Sports Jeopardy: the TV show

Post by georgetrev »

With Sports Jeopardy now in the form of a mobile game, it's becoming a internet TV show on Crackle. Dan Patrick will host.

Two thoughts:

1) I read the reviews of the iPad app and found that nearly all the reviews said the app crashes constantly. Not gonna download something that unstable.

2) Dan Patrick as host... I couldn't stand the guy on sports-talk radio (his opinions suck and his sense of humor is weaksauce), but he was great back in the day when he did SportsCenter with Keith Olbermann. And he has terrific diction and a great voice, almost certainly the smoothest and best in the sports world. He will have little trouble with the hosting duties as fas as handling the pace of the game and the many many many words that a Jeopardy! host says during a telecast.

However this sports Jeopardy! show works out, he could be absolutely terrific as the new host of the standard Jeopardy! whenever Alex finally decides to step down (not that he's slowing down or anything, he's still great but he's not a spring chicken).

More details May 15... OMGGGGGGGGGGGGG

I just can't explain how amazing this is. It was always a joke for me to tell people, "sadly, I'll never make it on Jeopardy... but if they ever had an all-sports version, I'd own it." And now, it's a reality... I CAN'T EVEN HANDLE THIS, YOU GUYS!!!

So did you ever stump Howie Schwab? Have you competed in sports trivia competitions with and against guys that have? Think you can hang with them?

There's a page on Jeopardy.com where you can sign up for a mailing list for details about the auditions.

Does this mean we can finally dispense with the sports categories on regular Jeopardy!? ;)

Without sports categories, we would have never had the majesty of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar guessing himself as a response, so no.

I never said I'd beat everybody...? I'm just saying, this is my best chance to do well at anything trivia-related. I'm beyond excited.

It's not like they come up often anyway. :(

Often enough for me. Sports are my Achilles' heel. (that's pronounced AY-chi-luss for you WoF fans!)
