What would upset you more?

A) Maire doing what she did today in FJ

B) Campbell betting $1 to prevent a tie by Maire and getting it wrong
I'd rather cuddle then have sex. If you're into grammar, you'll understand.

Somehow, a reasonably civil tone has been kept in here. So far.

Yeah, band name category was dreadful.

I used to live across the street from the Excorcist House. Had to get that one.

After seeing the FJ clue, I thought the final category may just as well have been word origins. It was basicly a know your Latin clue with the extra TOM about the Darwin book.

What was the category again? Science Literature?
Ironic that it was a work based on a theory, not settled science. Not surprising though, knowing which direction the J! writers consistantly lean.

Both are terrible. Probably b because game is already won. In scenario a, you still have to get FJ.

In scenario B, Maire has to get FJ and Campbell miss for it to matter. In Scenario A, only one is required.

A is by far the worse bet.

BTW, please don't hate me or take away my board membership, but just for a second after seeing Maire's wager, my mind said, "OMG mbclev... I totally see it! I do..."

I suspect you jest, but I suppose there must be a portion of J! fans that are completely oblivious to the glaring partisanship on this show.

Oh hey, it's everyone's favorite argument from the Sony boards. Can we not do this?

Not jesting, just wanted to be sure what you were saying. I thought maybe you meant they lean in the direction of truth.

37 out of 60.

Terms: 3/5 Politics: 3/5 Shakespeare: 3/5 Try: 5/5 Nickname: 2/5 Capitals: 2/5
Clergy: 3/5 (Thanks to the Disney movie for Frollo) "But": 3/5 Reality: 3/5 Time: 5/5 Hat: 1/5 Going: 4/5

Lach trash: "Tallahassee", "Frollo" (DD- Exorcist)

Easy FJ for me as I just thought Origin of Species= evolution. I was wondering if either evolve or evolution would be acceptable, but Alex answered the question for me.

AHHHH!!! Was my first reaction to that bid! When I saw Marie's answer, I was so looking forward to a co-championship. I really don't get it.
QUESTION: For longtime fans, where does this rank in terms of bad wagering, is this #1?

Also, On Good Try! I got 5/5, no surprise there for me as I'm pretty much a sports expert (passed Sports Jeopardy Audition).
I actually liked the state capitals category (it did provide a Lach Trash for me in Tallahassee.)
It reminded me of the British game show, Only Connect as they use the no vowels format in their final round:
(26:15 mark) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=im73K9NO6rE

Again, just baffled.

RKane wrote:"But" was easy. Should have been in the first half, if not kids week.
I ran the category but was disappointed that the contestants didn't call for it properly until the final clue. Then, at last, Campbell said, "I'll take BUTS for 2, Alex." AND ALEX STEPPED ON THE LINE AND TALKED OVER HIM! Aaaaaaaarrrrrrggghhh! Give me my juvenile giggles!

I also ran the state capitals category. I was surprised to find a number of complaints here about the difficulty. They all just clicked for me. Weird. Now ... for how many of you laggers was the $1000 clue in that category merely an instaget? And how many of you, like me, confidently called out Honolulu before the clue was revealed?

C) Campbell betting $1 to prevent a tie by Maire and winning by that $1 against Maire's all-in bet.

If I can't have that, I'll take A. Scenario B would just make me laugh. I'd point at the screen and yell, "If only you'd been willing to share! HA ha!!! Time for somebody to repeat Kindergarten!" That is TONS better than my Scenario C where the douchebag doesn't get his comeuppance and the person who did the smart thing suffers. Scenario A was bad, but there was no douchebaggery or injustice or thwarted savvy. There was just one perfectly likeable contestant who made the obvious smart bet and one perfectly likeable contestant who didn't. It was painful but it didn't make me hate the universe.

Oh, and Thwarted Savvy is the name of my new band. When they go on tour, they'll be opened for by Douchebag Comeuppance.

When Alex said 'we tried to trick you', I was kinda insulted. After going out of their way to mention Hawaii four times, I would've bet rent money that last one was gonna be Honolulu.

Both of those would've made better clues than the ones they used.

If there's an exception to the rule that mbclev dramatically overstates his case, this might well be it.

All scientific works are based on a theory. There is no such thing as settled science.
