2014 Summer Hiatus Challenge -- Round 4, Day 5

Post by DadofTwins »

A few administrative things to do this afternoon, then Day 6 will go up.

Also, I'm planning to post R5D1 early because of the holiday weekend. Look for it sometime Sunday.

Proud Dad set today.

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

2: The schoty is a Russian version of this counting device with 10 beads on each wire.

4: The maximum length of a tweet, 140 characters, leaves 20 characters for the user name of the sender without going over the 160-character limit of this type of message.

6: SQL is a language invented to help manage these information storage and retrieval systems.

8: A boy's first name, an African country, or a piece of paper punched out when putting information on ticker tape.

10: First marketed as “MCA Discovision” in the late 1970's, this video format was a precursor to DVDs.

ARE WE THERE YET II – THE ERICA STRIKES BACK

This category made its debut last year, and it's written by my all-time favorite guest writer. Sorry, Paucle.

It's called “Are we there yet” because it is Erica's favorite game to play in the car. She makes up a “Before, During, and After”-type clue where she gives us the before and the after and we have to provide the “during.” Example: Mediterranean blank blank corral would be “sea horse.”

And, of course, when Erica starts making up clues, Katie's response is “Are we there yet?”

Erica will give you the first and last words, and you fill in the middle two. I'll add a crossword-style clue to help pin down the intended middle.

3: Cataract remover: Millennium blank blank Who

6: Monopoly corner: Caffeine blank blank Pass

9: It can be white or red: Blue blank blank phone

12: Shell, for instance: Neon blank blank wagon

15: Really, really big fish: Blue blank blank tank
