Turd Ferguson wrote:I guess George Costanza was right about Salsa becoming more popular than Ketchup (a point a couple entrants noted).
Strange, therefore, that I was the only one to use it as an answer (I'm guessing its known popularity scared a few off?)

I do want to say right here, by the way, that Kraft Sandwich Spread is *the* best condiment ever made, as the lady in the Frank's Red Hot ad says, "I put that **** on everything!" Odd that I appear to be the only one who likes it, not only in my family, but in my neighbourhood, as it takes up an extremely small space on the shelf in both of our favourite grocery stores.

And I'm not surprised that salsa is #2 and mayo is #1. Both are due to the large Latin American population in the US. I know this because back in 1912, Hellmann's mayonnaise was manufactured in England and the Titanic was carrying 12,000 jars of the condiment scheduled for delivery in Vera Cruz, Mexico, where they are crazy about the stuff. Upon hearing of the Titanic's demise, the Mexican people were inconsolable. Their anguish was so great, that they declared a National Day of Mourning, which occurs each year on May 5th and is known, of course, as Sinko de Mayo.

Ah, okay, thanks. Q5 results updated... the others who said Heinz Ketchup, and the negs drop one each.

6. A PETIT DEJEUNER

Burt Reynolds: Yeah, while why don’t you give me, uh, Ape Tit for $200
Alex Trebek. It’s not Ape Tit. It’s a petit – nevermind… let’s just go to Animal Sounds for $600
Alex Trebek: This is the sound a doggy makes. Mr. Connery
Sean Connery: Moo
Alex Trebek: No
Sean Connery: Well, that’s the sound your Mother made last night. <evil laugh> .

7. FOREIGN FLICKS

Alex Trebek: Let’s just go with Foreign Flicks for 800
Sean Connery: Ursula Andress
Alex Trebed: What?!
Sean Connery: Ursula Andress, Catherine Deneuve, and Charo twice
Alex Trebek: That’s Foreign Flicks, Mr. Connery. Foreign Flicks.

Name one of the top 15 grossing foreign language films released since 1980

I was worried that there’d be a few American-made entries which would miss out on the “technicality”, since the bar to make the top 20 was so low, though that was not the case. One neg I wasn’t really sure about… is anybody here an Italian Translator? :) Two entrants seem to be opening up some space between themselves and the rest of the pack… can they keep it up?

"Life is Beautiful" would be the direct translation (and no alternates on IMDB).

But billy_pilgrim's literal translation should count if if he delivered it while pinching life's cheeks and forcing her to eat a third plate of lasagna.

8. AN ALBUM COVER

Alex Trebek: Sean Connery, why don’t you pick?
Sean Connery: Well, the game is afoot. I’ll take Anal Bum Cover for 7000 <evil laugh>
Alex Trebek: That’s An Album Cover, not Anal Bum Cover
Sean Connery: I can read, Trebek. That says Anal Bum Cover. I spent five years of my life trying to invent an anal bum cover. Failing to do so is my greatest regret.
Alex Trebek; You have lived a horrifying life.

Name the title of one of the album covers described below
I had originally planned on using pictures of famous album covers, but was too lazy to figure out how to make and include a collage, either having to obscure artist and title names, or exclusively use covers not containing either. I was really impressed with a couple of the singleton gets - I’d consider “classic rock” a wheelhouse for me, and a few of the covers were completely unfamiliar to me. A surprising singleton, though, causes a lead change...

Boy do I feel silly ....

I completely misread that question. I saw "Rolling Stones" and thought that they were all Rolling Stones album covers and not knowing the name of any Rolling Stones albums, I dropped the question. :?

Would've been really disappointed had I not soloed on that one. Having worked retail music from 1986-1992, there wasn't a single shipment where at least half a dozen of those titles weren't being restocked. I could've named any of them!

And here I thought I'd pick the sheep. Proving once again that I'll never understand this game if I live to be immortal. :shake:

(I think the trick here is that everyone is too busy showing off their big shiny brains and trying to outdo themselves with picking the most obscure answer that they leave the obvious ones for inferior minds like mine.)

9. RICHARD NIXON

Sean Connery: Lookie what I did! (category name changed to RICHARD NIXON)

Name a team that won one of the "big four" sports championships during Richard Nixon's Presidency

Hockey teams have sheeped in these sort of questions in past TDs as players try to go more “obscure”, so perhaps people avoided them this time because of it. I was surprised by the team that ended up sheeping, though it was a mild one.
