Victoria Agrinya, a 12-year-old from Woodbridge, Virginia
OPENING REMARKS
Alex: Thank you, Johnny Gilbert, and thank you, ladies and gentlemen. And welcome, folks, as we present a week of shows in which we feature young people--kids who in their own way are every bit as bright and as talented as the adults you're used to seeing in our regular shows. Now this is not a tournament. These are individual contests each day. The winner will receive whatever he or she accumulates with a minimum guarantee of $15,000, $2,000 for second place, $1,000 for third place. So there's a lot of cash at stake, but, Cerulean, Will, and Victoria, the best advice I can give you--have fun. Enjoy yourselves. Here we go--the Jeopardy! Round. Alex: Cerulean Ozarow is 11 years old, wants to be an author. But instead of talking about that, I wanna hear about a special Halloween in which you were involved. Tell me about it.
Cerulean: Um, well, a few years ago, I decided to be you for Halloween.
Alex: Really?
Cerulean: Yep.
Alex: Now how does one who is 9 or 10 years old be Alex Trebek? What--what's the different...
Cerulean: Well, we got, um--we dyed my hair gray.
Alex: Oh.
[Laughter]
Cerulean: We put a--[giggles]
Alex: Go ahead.
Cerulean: We put on--we put on a mustache just because it's classic Alex.
[Laughter]
Cerulean: And also that was the time when you had broken your foot, right?
Alex: Uh-huh.
Cerulean: Um, when you were chasing a burglar, so we put on a little cast.
[Laughter]
Alex: Way to go. All right. Did you get a lot of goodies?
Cerulean: Yeah, but no one could tell who I was.
[Laughter]
Alex: All righty.
Alex: Will Harter... wants to be a professional athlete. I knew you'd go to that sports category real fast. What's your favorite sport?
Will: Uh, baseball or football.
Alex: Now when my son was your age, he was a good baseball player also, and we--when he got a home run, I got very excited. Uh, you had a very special moment in a game. Tell everybody about that.
Will: Well, at our Cooperstown baseball tournament, it's--
Alex: Cooperstown? Hello.
Will: It's, like, one of the--it's a really big tournament, and about 40 teams go there from all over the country. And so I got to hit a grand slam in the game, which was... really nice--which was a really good moment for me.
Alex: I would think.
[Laughter]
Alex: And what about your dad? Did he have tears in his eyes when you did that?
Will: I'm pretty sure he did.
[Laughter]
Alex: Yeah. I would have been crying, too. Very proud of you. Way to go.
Alex: Victoria Agrinya from Virginia. You're a dancer. You've been taking ballet now for how long?
Victoria: Five years.
Alex: Five years. You obviously enjoy it, otherwise you wouldn't have continued. But you've branched out into... hip-hop?
Victoria: Hip-hop, yes.
Alex: What's the big difference in hip-hop? What... Do you use any muscles that you don't use in ballet?
Victoria: Well, you basically have to use your core in both of them, but, um, hip-hop is more freestyle.
Alex: Ah, and you enjoy that?
Victoria: Yes.
Alex: So ad-libbing is something that's important to you.
Victoria: Yes.
Alex: All right, nice.

Cerulean could be the Roger Craig of Kid's Week.
(And yet he still didn't get close to Styler Hornbach's pre or post FJ score)

That was pretty freaking epic. Aside from everyone's favorite "I'll bet it all" legend, you pretty much won't see that in regular Jeopardy play. Gotta love Kids Week!

Re: Monday, December 1, 2014 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]
Very nice game from all three, I thought, although Cerulean really wowed all of us with that gutsy DD wager. That's probably the biggest DD wager since his (maybe) protege Skyler Hornback (I think maybe even bigger than his!).
Surprisingly missed FJ (had actually thought for a second that it was the Final used for buzzer rehearsel). Came up with Ronald McDonald.
Even though it's Kids Week, I'll take my 50 right and $41,600 Coryat.

Poor kids, I wonder if those two even smilled during that entire episode...
"Daily Double!"
cmon kid, bet it all!
"...true daily double"
oh s--- he actually went for it...
Nice game.
Instaget FJ (hope to say that 5 times this week), guess these kids didn't watch much Sesame Street

Wow, Cerulean made it a true DD by betting $11,000! Good thing he got it right! This was a great game by all three contestants. I got 50 clues correct including bamboo, Herod the Great, Yahoo, Tom Sawyer (DD) and FJ, which was instant. The only category I had trouble with was Songs On The Radio, where I only got one correct.

What a great game!
Gotta love Cerulean's style and joy of playing the game... and what... big ones that kid have when he made it a true Daily Double at $11,000! Wow!
Plus I liked his fashion style of a snappy bowtie, for obvious reasons.
When I first saw the clue, I first thought of Lurch from the Addams Family, but realized he's not going strong... and then got Big Bird.
Congrats again to Cerulean!

Can't say he didn't cross my mind either, though he's not a TV character. You weren't that far off though. http://www.j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=3690Lumosityfan wrote: Surprisingly missed FJ (had actually thought for a second that it was the Final used for buzzer rehearsel). Came up with Ronald McDonald.
I said Paul Bunyan as a last ditch effort.
Cerulean was so cool. The DD wager was awesome and so was the $42.
And, oh yeah, bow ties are cool.
Alex said "your parents just had a heart attack." Geez, Alex, I had a heart attack!

I started out the same as you did, but, unfortunately, even after making that realization, couldn't (could you tell me how to?) get to Sesame Street.BADuBois wrote:When I first saw the clue, I first thought of Lurch from the Addams Family, but realized he's not going strong... and then got Big Bird.

If I had 50 cents for every math question I got right, I'd have $6.30 by now.

So Cerulean is my new favorite. Anyone else notice he bet $42 for FJ? He either really loves Jackie Robinson or he has read The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Maybe I shouldn't jump to conclusions, but I'm guessing it's the latter

Cerulean... wow. Someone went to Roger Craig school.
My eventual goal is to get a 30/30 on a kids' week board. Still not even close, with 21 and 19. My hopes were dashed on the FIRST CLUE of DJ! when I couldn't get Greenland.
I thought Sri Lanka, Scout, and yahoo were particularly tough for kid's week.
Also didn't get FJ! I never left animation and put down Scooby-Doo just to say something. I have never seen a second of Sesame Street in my life, so it didn't even enter my radar.

I wonder if any of the kid contestants could have gotten that Final. For whose who know the show's history, 1969 was a bit of a giveaway, but Big Bird hasn't been the focus of Sesame Street since the "Snuffles is real" story arc of the '80s and Follow That Bird. Elmo took over the show rather quickly after his introduction. I do note that a feature documentary on the puppeteer is making the festival circuit. Still, I don't think Big Bird is as popular a children's character today as he was when the writers were growing up.

Cerulean is one clever kid. Betting big when he knew he would know the answer. Not many adults have that level of balls, even if it's a good risk. Three very smart kids, I hope they use the money well. Not a great game for me, not proud to admit--swung and missed on Final, slow on the imaginary buzzer, said daffodil instead of dandelion and that was how more than a few of the questions went. Just bad luck on the board, really.

Loved his DD bet. He seemed to struggle with it and I was worried he was going to get it wrong. It was really more of a science question and based on his clamming during the Nature category, I guess science isn't his strong suit.
I guess a sports fan wrote this board. One entire category devoted to sports plus a few other sports clues popping up.
I had no clue on the last nature clue, good get for Will. I said Aztecs for Mayans (I can never keep those straight) and missed the first map clue because I misunderstood the clue.
Skunked the whole music category. Other than Oliver Twist, I guess classic lit isn't their thing, but Mockingbird probably isn't something kids that age have read yet.
It took me a bit to get FJ, but it wasn't hard. The year was a big hint. The show was a staple of my childhood, I guess not so much now. My son is a senior in high school and he never got into it.
