Form of a Question

Post by countyguy »

I suddenly got curious about something:
When you all are playing the J! and DJ! rounds at home, do you typically answer in the form of a question?

I know you probably clam sometimes unless you are a complete genius, you guess way too much, or you don't care about negs. However, I am referring to when you DO guess.

My choice isn't there in that I do both. But I stuck with "no" because I don't more often than I do.

That being said, I know I really have to get in the habit of doing it, and I hope I'm the only one who says "no" in this poll.

Nope!

I simply think the answer, unphrased.

I try to keep up the habit when I am in the pool. When I am kicked out of the pool this summer, I may get lazy again.

I sometimes say the answer out loud, sometimes not, rarely in the form of a question.

I usually don't, mostly because I usually am trying to blurt it out in the couple seconds between Alex finishing the clue and a contestant responding.

I still play along with the show out loud using proper phrasing, ad libs, yelling etc.

I didn't realize that not everybody answers in the form of a question. It would be interesting to run the numbers with people who have been on the show vs. not.

No, because the way I score, I need to beat the contestants if I 'buzz in'.

When I was in the pool, I was very carefully to use FOAQ. After I was on, I said "Oh, screw that!"

I used to not; after getting into the pool, answering in the form of a question and waiting for Alex to finish reading the clue were added as house rules.

I even call out the next clue value and sometimes make DD wagers based on the player's score.

I usually do the DD wager based on the player's score too.

I answer out loud if I am sure of the answer. In this way I get a small number wrong. I pass on any that I have no idea for. I do not want to get into the habit of guessing since I will not guess when I get on the show.

I still play along, though the only yelling I do is when I know the correct response to a TS.

I always use FOAQ even though I'm not currently in the pool. I consider it an exercise to "keep in shape" should I ever get the call.

Total reflex at this point. Pretty much always have and probably always will.

Not something I ever felt like I had to practice / work on 'making myself' do. Just kind of always been How You Play the Game to me.
