Mon: Brillo was instant.
Tue: I got Daniel Webster after a few seconds.
Wed: Golden Gate Bridge was instant; I remembered reading the quote in the clue before.
Thu: Zola was instant.
Fri: I guessed Lizzie Borden instead.
I had 168 clues right and 9 clues wrong for the week.

Lux on Monday

Borden on Friday, although I was pretty sure the date was too early. Never knew Anthony was tried for voting, and couldn't think of any other famous late 19th century trial of a woman.

Knee jerk answer of My Antonia instead of O Pioneers.

Yes, I have seen Rush in concert, though I am not really a fan (sorry, Jennifer, but you are still awesome!)

I am sad to say that I had a complete shutout this week.

Also, minor correction, but the Historic Nicknames clue in the poll was a J! round clue for $800, according to the archive, anyway.

Okay, I changed it, thanks. 4th box, just wrong round.

Listerene, Panama Canal, Verne, Borden. Borden is the only one I thought had any chance of being right. (I was shocked to learn she was 32 when she allegedly killed her parents. That's like twice as old as I'd always pictured.)

Oh, and I have no idea who Rush is.
Oh, what has science wrought? I sought only to turn a man into a metal-encased juggernaut of destruction powered by the unknown properties of a mysterious living crystal. How could this have all gone wrong?

Had to play Friday's off the archive because stupid KABC didn't air Friday's game on Saturday.
Likely messed up my Coryat too cause the pacing was all thrown off. *sigh*

I waited for it to appear on YouTube, which was a long enough wait for Jennifer to post about that FJ in a Pavlovs thread and for me to see it. But I'm giving myself credit, which means I denied myself a 5/5 (and an 8/8) by taking Henry Clay over Daniel Webster on Tuesday.

You don't have to wait for a table at Perkins family restaurants?

I said Sojourner Truth for Friday's clue. ("Ain't I a Woman?") No guess on Willa Cather. Every other question was more or less an instaget.

I've never seen Rush. One of the worst bands I've ever heard. I'd sooner pay to see Iggy Azalea or that donut licker.

Monday: Only thought of Day-Glo.
Tuesday: Instant.
Wednesday: Brief thought of Mount Rushmore, but went to Golden Gate Bridge after focusing on "engineer" as opposed to "sculptor".
Thursday: Quickly after remembering "J'accuse".
Friday: Case of overthinking; thinking of the woman who ran for president in 1872 (Victoria Woodhull), but I only got to "Victoria Hull", so wrong anyway. Lizzie Borden is a pretty popular incorrect answer for this one, but I knew it wasn't her because it was 20 years before.

I wrote in Tojo in the New York Times syndicated crossword about 15 seconds before the clue showed up. ("Japanese P.M. executed in 1948")
