Summer Hiatus Challenge 2015 - Medal Ceremony

Post by BoK »

And another SHC comes to an end. First let us award the Paucle Award for Outstanding writing, in memory of a great SHC player and writer and a great person.

With 53% of the vote, the award goes to SHC host-emeritus

DadOfTwins.

Congratulations!

Thanks again to everyone who submitted a category. We couldn't use them all, but we sincerely appreciate it.

And now for the medals podium.

Winning the bronze medal, with 393 points: DJDaveMick

Winning the silver, with 429 points: Lampy

And your gold medal winner, missing only a single question in the whole TOC, with a 440 points: Schliemann

These are outstanding scores. Congratulations to all.

Thanks again to everyone who played, wrote, judged. And of course, thanks to my cohost, rjaguar3.

Hip, hip, hooray for all three podiumites and especially for our winner Schliemann. And hearty congrats to DoT for his Paucle award - well deserved! And, once again, my most sincere thanks to BoK, rjaguar3 and all the others who made this edition of the SHC such a success.

Many people may deserve the Paucle, but we really wouldn't want to be like the Academy and have to give the "oops, here is the honorary Oscar because we goofed so many times" to Peter O'Toole in his 80s... or worse, never give any directing award to Hitchcock. So DoT is the only good choice in the first year, and I'd say the board has shown its collective wisdom.

In other news, Schliemann's cover has finally been blown. "He" is in fact Meryl Streep.

Both of them deserved it. Though I probably should have compared DoT to George Lucas, as he created the saga that continues.

Congrats to all. 2 questions:
1) Who is the Paucle named after?
2) What question did Schliemann miss???

Thanks everybody.

I'm glad the SHC is in good hands, and that we get to remember Paucle in this way.

And congrats to Schliemann. Again. I hope that when you get The Call, your buzzer hand isn't slowed down too terribly by all of those SHC Championship Rings.

Ditto to all of this.

When I saw that my category was up against DoT's, I knew I was toast. Well done!
