Alex: Yeah. Well, Matt was a great champ. Uh, no need to feel sorry for him. He went home with over $411,000, qualified for this year's Tournament of Champions, which is coming up in a few weeks, in which he could wind up winning an additional $250,000. Alex: Who has a famous cat.

Dana: I do have a famous cat. I started posting pictures of my cat, Iggy, on social media, and I realized that I was doing it a bit too much, and my friends kindly suggested I make the cat its own social media page. And now the cat is much more popular than I am.

Alex: The cat has more hits on a daily basis than you do?

Dana: Yeah, she--she's very cute and she--in her own way. She's cross-eyed and snaggle-toothed, so... but we love her anyway.

Alex: You should love her because of that.

Dana: Yes. [Chuckles]

Alex: Josh Silverman, graduate student from Miami, Florida. Performing stand-up comedy for how long now? you look--

Josh: 12 years.

Alex: 12 years? My gosh. You don't look old enough to be performing--

Josh: Yeah, so does the person who takes the tickets for the rated "R" movies.

Alex: Uh-huh. Now what kind of material do you perform?

Josh: Uh, some of it's autobiographical. Some of it is stuff that happens in the news, that kind of stuff.

Alex: I mean, this is a presidential election year.

Josh: Well...

Alex: You're gonna have a lot of material before this is over.

Josh: I'm excited.

Alex: Yeah, I--you should be.




Michael: I did. I am a member of the New York City gay men's chorus. And Joan Rivers was a longtime supporter of the organization. And, uh, as, you know, part of her funeral, she wanted a very big celebration, so they asked us to come perform a few numbers at the beginning, and, uh, I got to stay for the whole thing.

Alex: All right, good for you.

Michael: Yes.

Polo shirts, fist pumps, wristbands, oh my! I must say I was tickled at the Joshua tree DD. I just hope he doesn't try to do stand-up during his subsequent interview segments.

FJ! was tough because I can visualize square miles about as well as I can visualize Kelly Miyahara with a goatee. It took me just a smidge over 30 seconds but I got it.

Surprisingly, I was 19/28 in DJ!, with three runs (Halloween Costumes, Starts with "D", and Noted Pairs), and all but Picasso in Bios. No way was I getting any of those obscure World Factbook pieces, though.

I just don't think commenting on the chorus is something we need here. Who cares how people act while under the lights? All that should matter, at least to true boardies, is how the game is played.

That might be it. I couldn't picture what could possibly be a "roof of the world", since the only thing I could picture being a literal roof of the world would be, well, the outer layers of the atmosphere. Over-literalism chokes me up again.

Josh played well. I had 36 correct responses. There were quite a few triple stumpers of which I got five: flappers, rubber plant, speaking in tongues, takes two to tango, and Adlai Stevenson. I got FJ after thinking about it for about 15 seconds.

Well, that was embarrassing. I was looking in the wrong part of the Middle East, and went with a random country (Oman) which turns out to be nearly 120,000 square miles. Qatar (4,468 square miles), which I also considered, would have been a better guess.

So is Lebanon's lack of a desert that well-known? Is it one of those YEKIOYD facts?

As for the game itself, it was bound to be a letdown after the excitement of last night. I was disappointed that Mike wasn't hunting for a DD until the very end, despite being in a trailing situation -- and then he underwagered when he found it. Not that it (or his FJ overwager) mattered in the end, with Josh's sole solve.

I thought that DD was neg-baity, by the way; Apollo 1 was only 2 years later, in 1967 (although tragically it never got off the ground, which I guess is the key thing to know there).
