If I don't know and can't even hazard a guess, I leave it blank. Trying for BWA is just a waste of time for me.

Baba for me too, from Ram Das. Thought that was a slum dunk and never considered anything else, especially since I didn't recognize any of the other names.ElendilPickle wrote:Same for me; guru never even entered my mind.Woof wrote:MD2 resulted in a 7(5) - 7(5) tie, a definite improvement over MD1 (mainly because I didn't have to face Lampy ). Q3 was a major boo-boo on my part. Saw Ram Das and said "Aha! It's Baba Ram Das" ergo Baba must be the honorific sought for, right? Bah! Knowing of Meher Baba and of course "Baba O'Riley" just added fuel to my misguided fire.
A helpful hint for rookies: if you come up with an answer, even if it's a wild guess, go ahead and submit if you can't think of anything better. I thought of vitamin for question 6, but didn't think it was right, so I left the space blank.
Ammonia (NH3) led me to amino acids, but that didn't feel right in the context of food packaging. Then.... aha!.... vit(amin)! The naming and chemical connection between them had never occurred to me before.

My general rule of thumb is if it takes me as long to come up with a BWA as I spent pondering the question...I'm not coming up with a BWA either.Bamaman wrote:If I don't know and can't even hazard a guess, I leave it blank. Trying for BWA is just a waste of time for me.
The best thing that Neil Armstrong ever did, was to let us all imagine we were him.

I had heard of it, but couldn't quite remember all of the elements. I knew it was puppymonkey*something*, but I couldn't quite pull it out. (I typed "puppymonkeykitten", which of course doesn't count.)ihavejeoprosy wrote:Im shocked that puppymnkeybaby had a less than 50% get rate. Its recent and was talked about a lot. In Horizon Rundle A did well first two rounds taking a tie with 7(5) and another 7(5) to win
Pretty good gets with guru and 'vital amines' which I've seen somewhere before... probably some pub quiz. Instaget on terracotta, didn't realize the army was so recently discovered in 1974!
Could see the names of hurricanes, but could not figure out the pattern, is it highest wind force, earliest date, most damage? Guessing the latter I WAG'd Katrina, o joy!

I had a similar epiphany, half a second after submitting. Luckily I won on defense by a point.mpahu wrote:MD2: won 7(5)-1(2).
I had the questions open in my kitchen, eating lunch. My roommate was making a sandwich. Something finally clicked and I shouted out, "TERRA COTTA!" He asked me what that was about, and I just said "trivia." I'm glad my outbursts can be understood.

Re: LL68: For the LLamas
This was exactly my thought process. I felt really proud about coming up with both vitamin and William Tell, but it was all for naught as jjwaymee outdefended me 8(5)-6(5).RandyG wrote:Ammonia (NH3) led me to amino acids, but that didn't feel right in the context of food packaging. Two days, 10 TCA, and an 0-1-1 record. I no like this B rundle thingy.

Re: LL68: For the LLamas
I initially thought I got 4 correct on day 3, since wavelength was listed as an alternative correct answer for period, but that was later amended, and I ended up losing with a 3(3) score.
Unfortunately, I also lost my coin flip of pretzel v. spaghetti.

Re: LL68: For the LLamas
Bad defense caught up with me on MD3 with a 6(5)-6(3) tie, and some very lucky guesses are all that separated me from the loss. Such are the perils of a rookie rundle. This is the hellbound fury with which I knew I'd be humbled.

Of course the one time I actually know the answers to more than two questions I face the guy who always forfeits. Ah well, I'll take the W.
Also, Smile rules, so seeing it on LL put a big smile on my face this morning.

I seem to have a bad start to every season. I started last season 0-5-1 but survived. I'm currently 0-2-1 with 13 TCA and 12 CAA, which is kind of a drag. I'm not sure if my defense has been unlucky or merely bad. For example, I lost 4(4)-6(3) by giving 3 points on the Beach Boys question and 2 points on the Falklands question, and 0 points on the reciprocal of frequency question, to an opponent who's stronger in math and science and weaker in pop music and world history.
Today I play my esteemed referrer.

Wait, what? I had wavelength and it was marked wrong. I did some looking up, and I guess it was wrong, but I was sure it was right when I submitted. No mind; I ended up with a 9(5)-6(4) win over Colby. My head is temporarily swollen.OSXpert wrote:I initially thought I got 4 correct on day 3, since wavelength was listed as an alternative correct answer for period, but that was later amended, and I ended up losing with a 3(3) score.

It seems that Thorsten made an error this morning. I had assumed that, much like the popes, Mr. Integrity was infallible.alietr wrote:Wait, what? I had wavelength and it was marked wrong. Re: LL68: For the LLamas
I remain winless after three days but rank #4 in Defensive Efficiency in our division and am tied for first in CAA. Today, my opp is the only other winless player who has played all three days (we have two players with either 2 forfeits or 3) so this might be my best chance at a win. Has anyone ever gone winless in a league season?

I feel like I played defence against the whole league today: I saw the alternate answer of wavelength, knew it was wrong, and quickly wrote to Thorsten. Yeah, I was that guy. To be fair, I get paid to do this, particularly during the 2 weeks I taught a unit on waves during January.
This A rundle thing is surprisingly doable so far:5 right each of the 3 days.
There - now the karma is sure to even out. I expect to not answer another question this whole season.

Re: LL68: For the LLamas
My dream of matching the 1972 Dolphins comes to an end as I lose 2(1)-0(1). I got Aramis and they got spaghetti. I had no idea on frequency, tried to remember what the A stood for in AM radio but that wasn't it anyway. Amplitude was the MCWA so I wasn't alone. For once, I liked his choice for BWA.
No idea on the movie. Never seen it and had no idea it was all guys. I guessed Platoon. Never seen it, either, but figured it was worth a shot since it was a war movie.
I have heard the term "spaghetti junction" before but not necessarily specifically for 85/285. I travel to Atlanta a lot for work and what I call that interchange is something I can't say here.

As someone who answered wavelength, I wouldn't want to get credit for an answer I got wrong, so alls well. I could have gotten period if I had thought about it a little longer, and I've only got myself to blame.boson wrote:I feel like I played defence against the whole league today: I saw the alternate answer of wavelength, knew it was wrong, and quickly wrote to Thorsten. Re: LL68: For the LLamas
I agree with you, I went down the wrong mental path as well and picked wavelength, which obviously doesn't match the question 100%. I also went down the wrong mental path on the Film question and answered Ben Hur confidently, knowing that it was around 3 and a half hours as well, and that it won Best Picture. Then I asked myself what else could it be, and when Lawrence of Arabia didn't come to me, I thought I was definitely right when I submitted Seemed so obvious in retrospect. Despite all this, I tied a boardie 5(2)-5(4), so at least my defense has been on point so far.OSXpert wrote:As someone who answered wavelength, I wouldn't want to get credit for an answer I got wrong, so alls well. P.S. I also guessed pretzel for the Interstate question. My girlfriend is from one of the cities mentioned in the question, so after I submitted I asked her if she has heard about the Spaghetti Junction. She texted me "Many times, why?" If only LL rundles for couples were a thing...
