I'm wondering what are the odds that was not a randomly selected clue for this game with three women contestants.Dr. J wrote:Could there be a better FJ question for a Rift Outchange game?
Focusing on anthemic, my first thought was Na Na, Hey Hey, Kiss 'em Goodbye. Nope, the artist was a group, it has to be an individual.
Then I thought it must be Rock & Roll Part 2 by Gary Glitter, but I was never aware of him being born in Australia. And although that song is somewhat iconic, the title is pretty obscure. Too obscure for J!
Alone Again, Naturally? No, that's not an anthem, and also a little too obscure.
ONJ was not born in Australia, and time is up so I got nothin'.
On reveal it was quite obvious. Good FJ clue.

Yeah, really. I mean, if you don't know, you don't know, but that's gotta be Top 5 most "American" songs or so.mungar wrote:Little ditty about Jack and Diane

I'm not usually good at providing odds, but this one's easy: ZERO. That's why they have a lawyer pick the clue sets for the week, before the contestants for the games are chosen.Category 13 wrote:I'm wondering what are the odds that was not a randomly selected clue for this game with three women contestants.Dr. J wrote:Could there be a better FJ question for a Rift Outchange game?

DId very poorly in "J"eography. Like the contestants I also had Jalisco instead of Juarez and Jodhpur instead of Jammu. Picked up some Lach Trash in Tony-Winning Play Titles. (Is it just me or did Trebek seem disgusted that no one got The Rose Tattoo?)
Instaget FJ because of the word "anthemic".

I got hung up on 1972 and anthem, wrote American Pie, and spent 27 seconds trying to think of an Australian that would've had a hit at that time.

I'm not always good at distinguishing real irony from Alanis Morissette irony. Would it be the case that it's an odd coincidence that today's FJ! appeared in a game with three women, but ironic that none of them got it?

Geography is one of my wheelhouses; "J"eography, definitely not. I took the Jalisco neg because Juarez is usually known as "Ciudad Juarez." I hadn't lost over $4000 in an episode in a long time.
Ironic outchangey Final, but it didn't surprise me that it stumped all of them. It'll poll under 20% here, I'm sure. I knew the song, but not who sang it or what country she was from.

Although Therese should have bet at least $7201, her wager still would have won the game if she got "I Am Woman". It would have been the perfect wager if Rachel had less than $1800 at the end of DJ.Golf wrote:Both Rachel and Therese butchered the FJ wagers.
And what was wrong with Rachel's wager? She couldn't win as long as Natasha has three brain cells.

It does not matter one iota if her wager would have won the game the way this one trial plays out. Why do normally intelligent people think this matters when it comes to discussing the proper GTO wager?Category 13 wrote:Although Therese should have bet at least $7201, her wager still would have won the game if she got "I Am Woman". If Therese cares in the least about actually winning the game she wagers everything. Classic case of the only logical way to win is RW, so might as well wager everything. This also has the added bonus of winning the occasional game when a contestant knows zero about the lockout wager.
Rachel has zero chance to win, only way to finish 2nd is for Therese to miss. Therefore stand pat, only way to screw it up is to wager nearly everything and miss.

OMG, go see Zootopia if you haven't already.
Wow, our champ has boring stories. That was the shortest interview ever.
Daredevil was my only miss in Compound Word. I noodled this one hard but I just couldn't come up with a single compound word ending in -devil.
Baby Names was an easy run.
I thought the Brad Pitt clue at $400 was undervalued, at least relative to "blah blah animated Griffin family" at $1,600.
The Beatles clue at $400 was tough to wade through. "Ooh, what Beatles song has yes/no/or/may/be in it? Did they have a song beginning with the word Yes, No, or May, or Be? Nope, can't think of anyth.... OH, duh."
Those gypsum things are really just called crystals? I thought a crystal was something else entirely.
I could've stared at Caves for $400 for a year and never come up with "glowworms". Didn't know that was a cave thing at all, either.
I hit a dead-end after letting Olivia Newton-John be there in my morning and in my night, and couldn't come up with any other valid Australian artist. NHO the correct response, and I can't say I recognize the name Helen Reddy either.

I'm a HUGE Beatles aficianado and I couldn't come up with it in time.TenPoundHammer wrote: The Beatles clue at $400 was tough to wade through. "Ooh, what Beatles song has yes/no/or/may/be in it? Not having the category in front of me (there are four words to remember) caused me to be flustered at that clue because there are at least four Beatles songs that were number 1 in 1965.
Yesterday's game had a clue for a Beatles song that begain with the word Dear.

Ironcially, I guessed "It's Raining Men" for the FJ clue. I loved the "J"eography category. It was a little more challenging than usual.

Count me as another person who had never heard that Helen Reddy was Australian.
Not many people can say they've lost four times on Jeopardy!.
