conflict on taping date - help!
hi - long time lurker, first time poster.
just got the call (pre-call maybe is the better term?) and am suitably freaked out. mostly in a good way! almost entirely!! with the exception being - the date they asked me about falls within a trip I have booked outside of the country. have not fully looked into cancelling, but doesn't seem too seamless. is this a deal breaker? has anyone ever had to push back their tape date for similar reasons??
the kind person on the phone listening to my freakout mentioned that I would still be "in the file" for 8 months but obviously have no interest in taking THAT particular gamble without a sizable precedent.

The money you'll win makes up for the cost to change your plans, right?

I think the general consensus is if they want you on the show, they'll call back, but I can understand not wanting to chance it.

Seriously, though, tell them about your conflict. They've been doing this for 30 years. They've dealt with it before. They want you on the show. They'll be nice to you. Just let them know what's going on and ask whether they can schedule you for a different week.

I'm assuming that at this point they are casting for early next season, so it should not be a problem to reschedule you.

Re: conflict on taping date - help!
On one of my tape days, one of the scheduled contestants didn't show up... Frantic phone calls revealed that she had gotten the wrong date in her mind, and was doing something outside of LA that day with a friend. Maggie said they would not only book her for a later date, but also pay for her ticket to come back to LA. My point: they seem pretty happy to do whatever it takes to get you on the show once they pick you.

As mentioned, there have been instances where they have rescheduled. Don't be surprised if you have to wait a few months.

I have no experience with this situation. I've never gotten the Call. That said, if a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush then a bird in the hand is worth more than one in the bush.

despite all of the encouraging responses here, have decided to re-schedule my trip and go for the date they offered - after all, I already have the time off from work in case I need to stay a while

thanks - can't actually believe it! I get excited every time an unknown california number calls me, but previously it has always ended with me making a contribution to the human rights campaign.totebags wrote:Good choice--and congrats! When/where did you audition?
I auditioned in Boston in October 2015 - first time auditioning for the main event, after previously coming in for the Teen and College Tournaments.

Glad you got it to work out and congrats on getting the call. Cancelling your trip will make for a good interview story.

Tell the "kind person on the phone" that I would be happy to stand in for you on the show, leaving you free to travel the entire world unworried.whysinclair wrote:hi - long time lurker, first time poster.

Hey, congrats! I auditioned in Boston too in October. Would be funny if we also had the same tape date (early August).whysinclair wrote:thanks - can't actually believe it!
