2: Though best-known for his jazz, this trumpeter, nicknamed Satchmo, used blues elements in his music.
4: A blues stanza commonly consists of this many bars of music: three lines in the form AAB.
6: Blues songs often use this "s"-initialed technique of accenting weak beats.
8: One of this Chicago blues great's songs inspired the name of the Rolling Stones.
10: The 1941 autobiography of this composer of "St. Louis Blues" is titled Father of the Blues.

3: Robert Burns wrote this poem in 1788; it's now a New Year's tradition to sing it.
6: Rituals in this Passover meal include four standard questions and four cups of wine.
9: In Arkansas, Mississippi, and Alabama, this figure is commemorated on the same day as MLK.
12: Catholics celebrate the assumption of this Biblical figure on August 15.
15: Various gods are said to return on this Hindu holiday, whose name comes from the Sanskrit for "row of lights".
