Does anybody keep or archive the CONTESTANT INTERVIEW segment of Jeopardy! shows?

I saw part of the December 6 (yesterday) interview go by, and my immediate thought is that "HOLY ****, I HAVE TO TELL .... ABOUT THIS!!!" But I wasn't recording the show, and as a result any hope of writing down the Q&A went by, and out of the "ether," and was forever lost.

Is there anyplace that is even possible to get a transcript of yesterday's interview? That would be adequate. An actual video clip isn't necessary.

Lefty Grove is a famous pitcher and that is the position with wins counted.

Elvin Hayes is a great basketball player and minutes played narrows the sports.

Northern Dancer was named as a horse. An important race run in two minutes is going to be the Kentucky Derby.

Mercury Morris was named as a Miami Dolphin so football. A key milestone for running yards is 1,000 yards as the list for 2,000 yds is very short and he's not one of them.

Rocket Richard's goals in 44-45 matching the number of games that season? Not matched until 1981? Anyone who got that one gets applause for knowing either part and especially for knowing both. In trying to run the category I guessed 82.

Knowing the name of the pitcher was not necessary to solve the clue.

Not knowing the Big E makes the next one more difficult.

The third one was in some ways the easiest of the five clues.

For a football fan there's nothing to think about for $800. For non-fans 1,000 yds has either hit the radar or not over the years. The player's name does not matter.

The last one was asking either for a clam or a miss while once again the player's name itself was not important.

Right, the category did not really have TOMs to it as some clues do and some don't.

I am quite confused by that clue. Esposito scored some 70+ goals in the 70-71 (I think) season. 50 goals in a season was old hat in 1981 when Gretzky scored 50 in 39 games.

What am I missing?

If I had 50 cents for every math question I got right, I'd have $6.30 by now.

The category was SPORTS ROUND NUMBERS (What we call pretty numbers around here).

Image

When Dennis Maruk of Washington had EXACTLY 50 goals on the nose in 1980-81 that was the first time since the Rocket that a player matched that goal total for a season.

Cool, thanks! I'd forgotten about the Derby clue which I understood how to get. I guess the takeaway here is basically that I should learn more about sports records and the sports themselves for the most part, rather than it being a category about particular participants.

Thank you, ladies and gentlemen.

11
00:01:01,763 --> 00:01:05,097
At the end of yesterday's
program, Tim admitted to me

12
00:01:05,099 --> 00:01:08,301
that he felt more nervous
as the defending champion

13
00:01:08,303 --> 00:01:12,939
on that program yesterday than
he did in his first appearance

14
00:01:12,941 --> 00:01:14,707
on our show last week.

15
00:01:14,709 --> 00:01:17,009
Alison and Anuj,
good to have you with us.

16
00:01:17,011 --> 00:01:18,878
Good luck, players.
Here we go.

17
00:01:21,315 --> 00:01:23,282
Now let's take a look
at the categories.

18
00:01:34,528 --> 00:01:36,262
Those three letters
are gonna come up

19
00:01:36,264 --> 00:01:37,430
in each correct response.

20
00:01:41,468 --> 00:01:43,903
...featuring
our on-air talent

21
00:01:43,905 --> 00:01:46,238
from our affiliate
stations.

22
00:01:46,240 --> 00:01:47,640
Tim, you start us.

23
00:01:47,642 --> 00:01:49,175
"ORE" for $200.

24
00:01:52,613 --> 00:01:53,713
Tim.

25
00:01:53,715 --> 00:01:55,214
-What is a snore?
-Right.

26
00:01:55,216 --> 00:01:56,115
"ORE" for $400.

27
00:02:04,191 --> 00:02:06,125
Anuj.

28
00:02:06,127 --> 00:02:07,593
-What is yore?
-Correct.

29
00:02:07,595 --> 00:02:09,795
I'll take Sports Round Numbers
for $200.

30
00:02:16,203 --> 00:02:17,269
Anuj.

31
00:02:17,271 --> 00:02:19,138
-What is pitcher?
-Right.

32
00:02:19,140 --> 00:02:20,940
Sports Round Numbers, $400.

33
00:02:26,780 --> 00:02:27,913
Tim.

34
00:02:27,915 --> 00:02:29,815
-What is basketball?
-Right.

35
00:02:29,817 --> 00:02:31,283
Round Numbers for $600.

36
00:02:38,492 --> 00:02:40,126
Anuj.

37
00:02:40,128 --> 00:02:42,294
-What is the Kentucky Derby?
-Good.

38
00:02:42,296 --> 00:02:43,396
Sports Round Numbers, $800.

39
00:02:50,003 --> 00:02:51,437
Tim.

40
00:02:51,439 --> 00:02:52,838
-What is 1,000?
-Yes.

41
00:02:52,840 --> 00:02:54,373
Mining for "ORE" for $600.

42
00:02:58,879 --> 00:03:00,413
Anuj.

43
00:03:00,415 --> 00:03:02,982
-What is lore?
-Lore or folklore, correct.

44
00:03:02,984 --> 00:03:05,418
And Sports Round Numbers,
$1,000.

45
00:03:16,730 --> 00:03:18,364
Anuj.

46
00:03:18,366 --> 00:03:19,365
What is 60?

47
00:03:19,367 --> 00:03:21,567
No.
Alison or Tim?

48
00:03:21,569 --> 00:03:25,905
Missed it by 10, Anuj --
50 games, 50 goals.

49
00:03:25,907 --> 00:03:27,306
Back to you, though.

50
00:03:27,308 --> 00:03:29,842
I'll take Clues Across America,
$200.

51
00:03:29,844 --> 00:03:33,546
<i> Hi, I'm Shannon Hegy,</i>
<i> from WPRI 12.</i>

52
00:03:41,822 --> 00:03:43,055
Tim.

53
00:03:43,057 --> 00:03:44,490
-What is Providence?
-You are right.

54
00:03:44,492 --> 00:03:45,658
"ORE" for $800.

55
00:03:49,963 --> 00:03:51,363
Tim.

56
00:03:51,365 --> 00:03:52,531
-What is commodore?
-That's right.

57
00:03:52,533 --> 00:03:53,666
"ORE" for $1,000.

58
00:04:01,942 --> 00:04:04,043
Anuj.

59
00:04:04,045 --> 00:04:06,112
-What are encores?
-Correct.

60
00:04:06,114 --> 00:04:07,913
Clues Across America, $400.

61
00:04:07,915 --> 00:04:12,351
<i> Hi, I'm Ben Bailey</i>
<i> from Local 4.</i>

62
00:04:23,864 --> 00:04:25,297
Tim.

63
00:04:25,299 --> 00:04:27,533
-Who is Joe Louis?
-Joe Louis, Detroit, yes.

64
00:04:27,535 --> 00:04:28,868
Clues Across America, $600.

65
00:04:28,870 --> 00:04:32,638
<i> Hi, I'm Cheryl Scott of ABC 7.</i>

66
00:04:43,150 --> 00:04:44,884
Anuj.

67
00:04:44,886 --> 00:04:46,385
-Who is Hancock?
-Yes.

68
00:04:46,387 --> 00:04:47,920
Clues Across America, $800.

69
00:04:47,922 --> 00:04:50,923
<i> Hi, I'm Rob Fowler from News 2.</i>

70
00:05:00,133 --> 00:05:01,634
Tim.

71
00:05:01,636 --> 00:05:03,202
-What is Rainbow Row?
-Yes.

72
00:05:03,204 --> 00:05:04,703
Clues Across America, $1,000.

73
00:05:04,705 --> 00:05:05,905
All right, here we go.

74
00:05:05,907 --> 00:05:09,642
<i> Hi, I'm Juliana Mazza</i>
<i> with 22 News.</i>

75
00:05:18,084 --> 00:05:19,819
Tim.

76
00:05:19,821 --> 00:05:22,121
-What is Geisel?
-Theodor Geisel, that's right.

77
00:05:22,123 --> 00:05:23,589
And you add to your lead.

78
00:05:23,591 --> 00:05:25,958
And we are going to
take our first break

79
00:05:25,960 --> 00:05:27,126
for these messages.

80
00:05:27,128 --> 00:05:28,727
So please stay with us.

81
00:07:32,953 --> 00:07:36,522
People often ask me is
there a way you can prepare

82
00:07:36,524 --> 00:07:39,158
for an appearance
on "Jeopardy!"

83
00:07:39,160 --> 00:07:42,461
Well, Anuj Patel,
you've come up with a way.

84
00:07:42,463 --> 00:07:46,532
Yeah, any big test or interview,
my preparation involves

85
00:07:46,534 --> 00:07:49,034
listening to "The Karate Kid"
theme song --

86
00:07:49,036 --> 00:07:50,936
"You're the Best Around."
-Aha.

87
00:07:50,938 --> 00:07:53,605
So a lot of -- it gets you
really pumped up,

88
00:07:53,607 --> 00:07:55,808
convinces you that
you're the best.

89
00:07:55,810 --> 00:07:58,077
And if you've got enough space,
you can do some crane kicks.

90
00:07:58,079 --> 00:07:59,812
And so far, in your career,
that has worked.

91
00:07:59,814 --> 00:08:01,680
It's worked so far.
It's gotten me here, so...

92
00:08:01,682 --> 00:08:02,948
We'll see
what happens today.

93
00:08:02,950 --> 00:08:06,018
Alison Carey is from
Cleveland Heights, Ohio.

94
00:08:06,020 --> 00:08:07,586
A few years ago, I used

95
00:08:07,588 --> 00:08:10,022
to watch a show
called "Deadwood."

96
00:08:10,024 --> 00:08:12,424
And one of the characters
on that

97
00:08:12,426 --> 00:08:14,793
was Al Swearengen,
is that right?

98
00:08:14,795 --> 00:08:17,563
And you have managed
to trace your family tree

99
00:08:17,565 --> 00:08:19,598
back to someone
with that name?

100
00:08:19,600 --> 00:08:23,035
Yeah, I was -- I saw the name
Swearengen in my family tree,

101
00:08:23,037 --> 00:08:25,637
and I found a website that had
Al Swearengen's family tree,

102
00:08:25,639 --> 00:08:27,606
and I -- well, I'm not
descendant from him,

103
00:08:27,608 --> 00:08:29,908
but we have the same
great-great-great-great-great-

104
00:08:29,910 --> 00:08:31,243
great-great-great-grandfather.

105
00:08:31,245 --> 00:08:32,444
He was a nasty character!

106
00:08:32,446 --> 00:08:33,512
Yeah.

107
00:08:33,514 --> 00:08:35,981
But good for you,
tracking it down.

108
00:08:35,983 --> 00:08:38,183
Tim Aten
from Vermilion, Ohio.

109
00:08:38,185 --> 00:08:40,019
Won a penmanship award --

110
00:08:40,021 --> 00:08:42,654
not at a school,
not at a college.

111
00:08:42,656 --> 00:08:45,257
But at a bar
in a trivia game?

112
00:08:45,259 --> 00:08:46,658
Yeah.
A couple years ago.

113
00:08:46,660 --> 00:08:48,027
I became the de facto captain

114
00:08:48,029 --> 00:08:49,862
of our trivia team
just because I...

115
00:08:49,864 --> 00:08:51,663
-Had good penmanship?
-Yeah.

116
00:08:51,665 --> 00:08:53,866
No, because I'm kind of
a control freak and then...

117
00:08:53,868 --> 00:08:54,933
Oh.

118
00:08:54,935 --> 00:08:56,602
Since I was writing
the answers down,

119
00:08:56,604 --> 00:08:58,604
I was really, really careful
when I wrote them.

120
00:08:58,606 --> 00:09:00,773
And then one night,
the woman running it decided

121
00:09:00,775 --> 00:09:02,841
she was sick of seeing
all the chicken scratch

122
00:09:02,843 --> 00:09:04,109
all the other teams had down

123
00:09:04,111 --> 00:09:06,011
and wanted people to write
their answers clearly,

124
00:09:06,013 --> 00:09:07,012
so I got a free appetizer.

125
00:09:07,014 --> 00:09:09,882
Oh.
Oh, a free appetizer!

126
00:09:09,884 --> 00:09:12,251
Big bucks in those bar
trivia games.

127
00:09:12,253 --> 00:09:14,653
All right,
let's get back into this.

128
00:09:14,655 --> 00:09:15,821
You command the board.

129
00:09:15,823 --> 00:09:17,189
Nuts for $200.

130
00:09:24,731 --> 00:09:26,331
Anuj.

131
00:09:26,333 --> 00:09:27,499
-What are chestnuts?
-Yes.

132
00:09:27,501 --> 00:09:28,534
Nuts, $400.

133
00:09:36,509 --> 00:09:37,743
Alison.

134
00:09:37,745 --> 00:09:40,379
-What is pecan?
-Yes, you're on the board.

135
00:09:40,381 --> 00:09:41,547
Structured, $200.

136
00:09:45,852 --> 00:09:46,919
Tim.

137
00:09:46,921 --> 00:09:48,120
-What is a kennel?
-That's it.

138
00:09:48,122 --> 00:09:49,254
Nuts for $600.

139
00:09:57,330 --> 00:09:58,864
Anuj.

140
00:09:58,866 --> 00:09:59,998
What are macadamias?

141
00:10:00,000 --> 00:10:01,800
Yeah, but you got
to love them anyway. Go.

142
00:10:01,802 --> 00:10:03,235
That's Just Nuts! $800.

143
00:10:08,775 --> 00:10:10,075
Alison.

144
00:10:10,077 --> 00:10:11,543
-What's cashew?
-Yeah.

145
00:10:11,545 --> 00:10:12,444
Nuts, $1,000.

146
00:10:20,353 --> 00:10:21,854
Anuj.

147
00:10:21,856 --> 00:10:23,889
-What are pistachios?
-That's it.

148
00:10:23,891 --> 00:10:25,290
Barrage of Books, $200.

149
00:10:33,399 --> 00:10:34,867
Alison.

150
00:10:34,869 --> 00:10:36,368
-What is "Goodnight Moon"?
-Right.

151
00:10:36,370 --> 00:10:37,469
Books, $400.

152
00:10:43,810 --> 00:10:45,344
Tim.

153
00:10:45,346 --> 00:10:47,412
-Who was Madame Bovary?
-Correct.

154
00:10:47,414 --> 00:10:48,413
Books for $600.

155
00:10:54,187 --> 00:10:55,654
Alison.

156
00:10:55,656 --> 00:10:58,824
-Who is Scott?
-Scott -- Sir Walter Scott, yes.

157
00:10:58,826 --> 00:11:00,726
Less than a minute
to go now.

158
00:11:00,728 --> 00:11:01,593
Books, $800.

159
00:11:01,595 --> 00:11:03,996
Answer...

160
00:11:03,998 --> 00:11:06,632
And just like that,
you can get yourself

161
00:11:06,634 --> 00:11:08,967
right back
into the thick of this.

162
00:11:08,969 --> 00:11:10,536
Let's make it a true
Daily Double.

163
00:11:10,538 --> 00:11:11,970
All right.
Here is your clue.

164
00:11:27,086 --> 00:11:30,222
Alison?
Say something.

165
00:11:30,224 --> 00:11:31,523
[ Beep ]

166
00:11:31,525 --> 00:11:34,126
"Schindler's Ark."
Ark.

167
00:11:34,128 --> 00:11:36,328
All right, pick again.

168
00:11:36,330 --> 00:11:37,863
Books, $1,000.

169
00:11:37,865 --> 00:11:40,299
This Frenchman's novel,
"Nausea,"

170
00:11:40,301 --> 00:11:42,568
is about a man
coming to terms

171
00:11:42,570 --> 00:11:45,938
with the meaning or
meaninglessness of existence.

172
00:11:45,940 --> 00:11:47,206
Alison.

173
00:11:47,208 --> 00:11:48,473
Who is Camus?

174
00:11:48,475 --> 00:11:49,541
No.

175
00:11:49,543 --> 00:11:51,910
Anuj or Tim?

176
00:11:51,912 --> 00:11:54,146
Who is Jean-Paul Sartre?
Go again, Alison.

177
00:11:54,148 --> 00:11:55,113
Structure, $400.

178
00:12:01,087 --> 00:12:02,387
Anuj.

179
00:12:02,389 --> 00:12:03,355
-What is a warehouse?
-That's it.

180
00:12:03,357 --> 00:12:04,423
[ Beep beep beep ]

181
00:12:04,425 --> 00:12:05,657
And with that,
you go to $4,600.

182
00:12:05,659 --> 00:12:06,825
You're still
in second place.

183
00:12:06,827 --> 00:12:08,160
Alison faltering a little,

184
00:12:08,162 --> 00:12:10,629
but a lot of cash available
in Double Jeopardy!

185
00:12:10,631 --> 00:12:12,965
And that's the round
in which she goes first,

186
00:12:12,967 --> 00:12:14,466
when we come back.

187
00:14:48,020 --> 00:14:49,788
<i> Closed captioning</i>
<i> sponsored in part by...</i>

188
00:15:11,344 --> 00:15:12,577
Alex: Alison was doing well,

189
00:15:12,579 --> 00:15:14,246
faltered a little
on a Daily Double,

190
00:15:14,248 --> 00:15:16,948
but now gets to go first
in Double Jeopardy!,

191
00:15:16,950 --> 00:15:18,617
with these categories in play.

192
00:15:31,764 --> 00:15:33,198
[ Laughter ]

193
00:15:33,200 --> 00:15:35,967
All right,
Alison, off you go.

194
00:15:35,969 --> 00:15:38,103
Out of Africa for $400.

195
00:15:44,710 --> 00:15:45,911
Tim.

196
00:15:45,913 --> 00:15:47,579
-What is an ostrich?
-That's it.

197
00:15:47,581 --> 00:15:48,447
Africa for $800.

198
00:15:48,449 --> 00:15:50,148
Here's Kelly.

199
00:15:50,150 --> 00:15:53,018
<i> A stress-reliever</i>
<i> that strengthens the spine</i>

200
00:15:53,020 --> 00:15:56,655
<i> and even stretches the lungs,</i>
<i> this yoga pose gets its name</i>

201
00:15:56,657 --> 00:15:58,857
<i> from a great</i>
<i> Egyptian landmark.</i>

202
00:15:58,859 --> 00:16:00,492
Tim.

203
00:16:00,494 --> 00:16:02,093
-What is the sphinx?
-Sphinx, yes.

204
00:16:02,095 --> 00:16:03,261
Out of Africa for $1,200.

205
00:16:10,937 --> 00:16:11,837
Tim again.

206
00:16:11,839 --> 00:16:13,738
-What is Timbuktu?
-Right.

207
00:16:13,740 --> 00:16:15,474
Out of Africa for $1,600.

208
00:16:22,682 --> 00:16:24,115
Alison.

209
00:16:24,117 --> 00:16:26,184
-What is Rastafarianism?
-That's it.

210
00:16:26,186 --> 00:16:27,486
You're out of the hole.

211
00:16:27,488 --> 00:16:28,920
Out of Africa for $2,000.

212
00:16:37,296 --> 00:16:39,097
Anuj.

213
00:16:39,099 --> 00:16:41,733
-What is Bantu?
-Bantu, right you are.

214
00:16:41,735 --> 00:16:43,001
Scientists, $400.

215
00:16:51,944 --> 00:16:53,144
Tim.

216
00:16:53,146 --> 00:16:55,347
-Who is Newton?
-Isaac Newton is right.

217
00:16:55,349 --> 00:16:56,214
"U" for $400.

218
00:17:03,322 --> 00:17:04,389
Tim.

219
00:17:04,391 --> 00:17:07,125
-What is "Ugly Betty"?
-You got it.

220
00:17:07,127 --> 00:17:08,260
"U" for $800.

221
00:17:17,336 --> 00:17:18,303
Alison.

222
00:17:18,305 --> 00:17:20,705
-Who is Uncle Buck?
-Right.

223
00:17:20,707 --> 00:17:21,940
"U," $1,200.

224
00:17:30,283 --> 00:17:31,983
Alison.

225
00:17:31,985 --> 00:17:33,952
-What is "Unreal"?
-You got it again.

226
00:17:33,954 --> 00:17:35,253
Colorful Language, $400.

227
00:17:40,126 --> 00:17:41,593
Tim.

228
00:17:41,595 --> 00:17:43,695
-What is purple prose?
-That's it.

229
00:17:43,697 --> 00:17:44,696
"U" for $1,600.

230
00:17:51,504 --> 00:17:52,704
Alison.

231
00:17:52,706 --> 00:17:54,272
-What is "Upstairs Downstairs"?
-Yes.

232
00:17:54,274 --> 00:17:55,340
"U," $2,000.

233
00:18:02,515 --> 00:18:03,415
Alison.

234
00:18:03,417 --> 00:18:06,017
-What is "U-571"?
-You got it!

235
00:18:06,019 --> 00:18:08,153
Every Claim You Stake, $400.

236
00:18:17,363 --> 00:18:18,697
Tim.

237
00:18:18,699 --> 00:18:20,398
-Who is Alexander the Great?
-He's the one.

238
00:18:20,400 --> 00:18:21,566
Colorful, $800.

239
00:18:25,304 --> 00:18:27,005
Anuj.

240
00:18:27,007 --> 00:18:29,140
-What is a blue blood?
-That's it.

241
00:18:29,142 --> 00:18:30,742
Colorful language, $1,200.

242
00:18:35,615 --> 00:18:37,015
Tim.

243
00:18:37,017 --> 00:18:38,783
-What is a yellow jacket?
-Right.

244
00:18:38,785 --> 00:18:39,751
Colorful, $1,600.

245
00:18:42,521 --> 00:18:43,555
Alison.

246
00:18:43,557 --> 00:18:46,424
-What is the green monster?
-Nope.

247
00:18:46,426 --> 00:18:48,093
Oh.

248
00:18:48,095 --> 00:18:49,194
Tim or Anuj.

249
00:18:49,196 --> 00:18:50,128
[ Beep ]

250
00:18:50,130 --> 00:18:51,963
"What is
the green-eyed monster?"

251
00:18:51,965 --> 00:18:54,132
You were close, Alison.
Tim, back to you.

252
00:18:54,134 --> 00:18:55,266
Colorful for $2,000.

253
00:19:02,875 --> 00:19:04,175
[ Beep ]

254
00:19:04,177 --> 00:19:06,511
The word
this time is whitewash.

255
00:19:06,513 --> 00:19:07,679
Tim, back to you.

256
00:19:07,681 --> 00:19:09,347
Every Move You Make, $400.

257
00:19:16,722 --> 00:19:18,289
Anuj.

258
00:19:18,291 --> 00:19:19,691
-What is chess?
-That's it.

259
00:19:19,693 --> 00:19:21,259
Scientists, $800.

260
00:19:28,300 --> 00:19:29,801
Anuj.

261
00:19:29,803 --> 00:19:31,469
-Who is Goodall?
-Jane Goodall, yes.

262
00:19:31,471 --> 00:19:32,404
Scientists, $1,200.

263
00:19:41,647 --> 00:19:43,148
Anuj.

264
00:19:43,150 --> 00:19:45,283
-Who is Volta?
-Alessandro Volta, good.

265
00:19:45,285 --> 00:19:46,384
Scientists, $1,600.

266
00:19:52,925 --> 00:19:54,526
Anuj.

267
00:19:54,528 --> 00:19:55,760
Who is Leahy?

268
00:19:55,762 --> 00:19:57,162
No.
Alison.

269
00:19:57,164 --> 00:19:59,397
-Who is Mead?
-Margaret Mead, you got her.

270
00:19:59,399 --> 00:20:00,465
Scientists, $2,000.

271
00:20:10,409 --> 00:20:11,876
[ Beep ]

272
00:20:11,878 --> 00:20:13,078
That was Lord Kelvin.

273
00:20:13,080 --> 00:20:15,447
Two categories still
in play there, Alison.

274
00:20:15,449 --> 00:20:17,282
Every Move You Make, $800.

275
00:20:24,023 --> 00:20:25,590
Anuj.

276
00:20:25,592 --> 00:20:27,592
-What is a blitz?
-Blitz, right you are.

277
00:20:27,594 --> 00:20:28,960
Every Move You Make, $1,200.

278
00:20:37,503 --> 00:20:38,870
Anuj.

279
00:20:38,872 --> 00:20:41,439
-What is sword fighting?
-Sword fighting, yes.

280
00:20:41,441 --> 00:20:42,974
Every Move You Make, $1,600.

281
00:20:42,976 --> 00:20:44,109
Answer there...

282
00:20:45,911 --> 00:20:48,613
And at the moment, you are
just $200 off the lead.

283
00:20:48,615 --> 00:20:52,717
Uh...I'll do $2,000.

284
00:20:52,719 --> 00:20:54,352
Okay, here's the clue.

285
00:21:04,730 --> 00:21:05,864
What is "Risk"?

286
00:21:05,866 --> 00:21:09,033
No. What is
"Rock, Paper, Scissors"?

287
00:21:09,035 --> 00:21:11,836
You are now at $8,200.
Go again.

288
00:21:11,838 --> 00:21:15,240
Every Claim You Stake, $1,600.

289
00:21:22,848 --> 00:21:24,115
Tim.

290
00:21:24,117 --> 00:21:25,150
What is Australia?

291
00:21:25,152 --> 00:21:27,452
No.
Alison or Anuj?

292
00:21:27,454 --> 00:21:28,453
[ Beep ]

293
00:21:28,455 --> 00:21:29,654
"What is Antarctica?"

294
00:21:29,656 --> 00:21:31,689
And we have less than a minute
to go now, Anuj.

295
00:21:31,691 --> 00:21:33,057
Every Claim You Stake, $1,200.

296
00:21:33,059 --> 00:21:35,860
Answer...
the other Daily Double.

297
00:21:35,862 --> 00:21:40,598
And at the moment,
you trail Tim by $600.

298
00:21:40,600 --> 00:21:42,901
I'll do $2,000 again.

299
00:21:42,903 --> 00:21:44,702
$2,000 again, all right.
Here's the clue.

300
00:21:55,548 --> 00:21:56,748
What are Sooners?

301
00:21:56,750 --> 00:21:58,750
Sooners, right.
Pick again.

302
00:21:59,919 --> 00:22:02,520
Every Claim You Stake, $600 --
or $800.

303
00:22:08,127 --> 00:22:09,594
Anuj.

304
00:22:09,596 --> 00:22:11,029
-What is Jordan?
-Yes.

305
00:22:11,031 --> 00:22:12,697
Every Claim You Stake, $2,000.

306
00:22:21,674 --> 00:22:23,007
Alison.

307
00:22:23,009 --> 00:22:24,075
What is the North Sea?

308
00:22:24,077 --> 00:22:25,910
No.
Anuj or Tim?

309
00:22:25,912 --> 00:22:26,945
[ Beep ]

310
00:22:26,947 --> 00:22:28,613
"What is
the South China Sea?"

311
00:22:28,615 --> 00:22:29,614
Now the last clue --

312
00:22:29,616 --> 00:22:30,715
[ Beep beep beep ]

313
00:22:30,717 --> 00:22:32,650
Well, we won't get to make
that last move.

314
00:22:32,652 --> 00:22:34,953
All three of you still alive
for Final Jeopardy!

315
00:22:34,955 --> 00:22:37,689
And here it comes.
The category is Authors.

316
00:22:37,691 --> 00:22:39,591
Think about it.
I hope you're well read.

317
00:22:39,593 --> 00:22:41,459
We'll reveal the clue
when we come back.

318
00:22:42,795 --> 00:22:42,894
Think about it.
I hope you're well read.

319
00:22:43,028 --> 00:22:44,195
As soon as I left the hospital

320
00:22:44,230 --> 00:22:45,830
after a DVT blood clot,

321
00:22:45,865 --> 00:22:47,532
I sure had a lot
to think about.

322
00:22:47,566 --> 00:22:49,467
What about the
people I care about?

323
00:22:49,501 --> 00:22:51,269
...including this little girl.

324
00:22:51,303 --> 00:22:53,538
And what if this
happened again?

325
00:22:53,572 --> 00:22:55,340
I was given warfarin
in the hospital,

326
00:22:55,374 --> 00:22:57,976
but wondered, was this the
best treatment for me?

327
00:22:58,010 --> 00:22:59,310
So I asked my doctor.

328
00:22:59,345 --> 00:23:01,079
And he recommended ELIQUIS.

329
00:23:01,113 --> 00:23:03,815
ELIQUIS treats DVT
and PE blood clots

330
00:23:03,849 --> 00:23:06,384
and reduces the risk of
them happening again.

331
00:23:06,418 --> 00:23:09,420
Yes, ELIQUIS treats DVT
and PE blood clots.

332
00:23:09,455 --> 00:23:10,722
ELIQUIS also had

333
00:23:10,756 --> 00:23:12,624
significantly
less major
bleeding

334
00:23:12,658 --> 00:23:14,192
than the
standard
treatment.

335
00:23:14,226 --> 00:23:16,661
Both made me
turn around my
thinking.

336
00:23:16,695 --> 00:23:18,730
Don't stop ELIQUIS
unless your doctor tells you to.

337
00:23:18,764 --> 00:23:21,933
ELIQUIS can cause serious and
in rare cases fatal bleeding.

338
00:23:21,967 --> 00:23:24,135
Don't take ELIQUIS if you have
an artificial heart valve

339
00:23:24,169 --> 00:23:25,603
or abnormal bleeding.

340
00:23:25,638 --> 00:23:27,672
If you had a spinal injection
while on ELIQUIS

341
00:23:27,706 --> 00:23:28,873
call your doctor right away

342
00:23:28,908 --> 00:23:30,975
if you have tingling,
numbness, or muscle weakness.

343
00:23:31,010 --> 00:23:33,511
While taking ELIQUIS,
you may bruise more easily

344
00:23:33,545 --> 00:23:35,880
...and it may take longer
than usual for bleeding to stop.

345
00:23:35,915 --> 00:23:38,216
Seek immediate medical care
for sudden signs of bleeding,

346
00:23:38,250 --> 00:23:39,550
like unusual bruising.

347
00:23:39,585 --> 00:23:41,519
ELIQUIS may increase
your bleeding risk

348
00:23:41,553 --> 00:23:42,754
if you take
certain medicines.

349
00:23:42,788 --> 00:23:44,756
Tell your doctor
about all planned

350
00:23:44,790 --> 00:23:46,224
medical or dental
procedures.

351
00:23:46,258 --> 00:23:49,160
ELIQUIS treats
DVT and PE
blood clots.

352
00:23:49,194 --> 00:23:51,229
Plus had
less major
bleeding.

353
00:23:51,263 --> 00:23:53,831
Both made ELIQUIS
the right treatment for me.

354
00:23:53,866 --> 00:23:56,868
Ask your doctor if switching
to ELIQUIS is right for you.

355
00:23:58,470 --> 00:24:00,004
With Advil, you'll ask

356
00:24:00,039 --> 00:24:02,006
What bad knee?

357
00:24:02,041 --> 00:24:04,008
What throbbing head?

358
00:24:04,043 --> 00:24:06,344
Advil makes pain a distant
memory

359
00:24:06,378 --> 00:24:07,512
Nothing works faster

360
00:24:07,546 --> 00:24:08,179

361
00:24:08,213 --> 00:24:09,013

00:24:09,048 --> 00:24:10,348

Pain?

364
00:24:11,216 --> 00:24:12,550

381
00:25:01,700 --> 00:25:04,936
If you have COPD, you know
that feeling

382
00:25:04,970 --> 00:25:08,072
when you just can't catch your
breath.

383
00:25:08,107 --> 00:25:11,776
When it feels so close but just
out of reach.

384
00:25:11,810 --> 00:25:14,846
And the more you worry, the
worse it seems to get.

385
00:25:14,880 --> 00:25:16,647
Now's the time to help put
better breathing

386
00:25:16,682 --> 00:25:18,082
back within reach.

387
00:25:18,117 --> 00:25:20,018
Now's the time for STIOLTO.

388
00:25:20,052 --> 00:25:22,253
Once-daily, steroid-free
STIOLTO

389
00:25:22,287 --> 00:25:24,322
opens airways in just
5 minutes

390
00:25:24,356 --> 00:25:27,558
to improve your breathing for a
full 24 hours.

391
00:25:27,593 --> 00:25:29,360
<i>STIOLTO is not for asthma.</i>

392
00:25:29,395 --> 00:25:31,696
<i>It contains a medicine that</i>
<i>increases the risk of death</i>

393
00:25:31,730 --> 00:25:32,930
<i>in people with asthma.</i>

394
00:25:32,965 --> 00:25:34,932
<i>This risk is unknown in COPD.</i>

395
00:25:34,967 --> 00:25:37,769
<i>STIOLTO doesn't replace rescue</i>
<i>inhalers for sudden symptoms</i>

396
00:25:37,803 --> 00:25:39,637
<i>and should not be used more than</i>
<i>once a day,</i>

397
00:25:39,671 --> 00:25:40,805
<i>or with similar medicines.</i>

398
00:25:40,839 --> 00:25:42,573
<i>Tell your doctor is you have a</i>
<i>heart condition,</i>

399
00:25:42,608 --> 00:25:44,976
<i>high blood pressure, glaucoma,</i>
<i>prostate, bladder,</i>

400
00:25:45,010 --> 00:25:46,244
<i>or urinary problems.</i>

401
00:25:46,278 --> 00:25:47,812
<i>These may worsen with STIOLTO.</i>

402
00:25:47,846 --> 00:25:49,847
<i>Call your doctor if your</i>
<i>breathing problems worsen,</i>

403
00:25:49,882 --> 00:25:52,183
<i>or if you have chest pain, mouth</i>
<i>or tongue swelling,</i>

404
00:25:52,217 --> 00:25:55,019
<i>problems urinating, hives,</i>
<i>vision changes or eye pain.</i>

405
00:25:55,054 --> 00:25:57,722
<i>Discuss all medicines you take,</i>
<i>even eye drops.</i>

406
00:25:57,756 --> 00:25:59,991
<i>Common side effects include</i>
<i>runny nose, cough,</i>

407
00:26:00,025 --> 00:26:00,992
<i>and back pain.</i>

408
00:26:01,026 --> 00:26:03,461
Nothing can reverse COPD.

409
00:26:03,495 --> 00:26:06,564
But STIOLTO can significantly
improve your breathing.

410
00:26:06,598 --> 00:26:08,733
Can't catch your breath?

411
00:26:08,767 --> 00:26:11,302
With STIOLTO, better breathing
is within reach.

412
00:26:11,336 --> 00:26:12,336
Ask your doctor today.

413
00:26:53,312 --> 00:26:55,413
The category has to do
with authors,

414
00:26:55,415 --> 00:26:57,348
and here is your clue, players.

415
00:27:10,095 --> 00:27:12,163
30 seconds.
Good luck.

[ Theme music plays ]

417
00:27:42,828 --> 00:27:45,029
Alex: Alison,
we come to you first.

418
00:27:45,031 --> 00:27:46,230
You had $4,200.

419
00:27:46,232 --> 00:27:48,766
A little bit of misfortune
on a Daily Double earlier.

420
00:27:48,768 --> 00:27:49,934
And you wrote down...

421
00:27:50,969 --> 00:27:52,403
...the name of the woman

422
00:27:52,405 --> 00:27:54,639
who wrote six novels --
Jane Austen.

423
00:27:54,641 --> 00:27:55,740
You're right.

424
00:27:55,742 --> 00:27:57,975
And your wager?
Everything.

425
00:27:57,977 --> 00:28:01,012
So you're at $8,400 as we go
to our champion, Tim.

426
00:28:01,014 --> 00:28:03,347
He had $8,800.

427
00:28:03,349 --> 00:28:04,982
Did he come up
with Jane Austen?

428
00:28:04,984 --> 00:28:06,083
He did not.

429
00:28:06,085 --> 00:28:08,019
Picked Charles Dickens
instead.

430
00:28:08,021 --> 00:28:10,154
How much did
he wager and lose?

431
00:28:10,156 --> 00:28:12,657
$300.
Oh.

432
00:28:12,659 --> 00:28:17,094
So he leads you, Alison,
by $100 as we go to Anuj,

433
00:28:17,096 --> 00:28:19,730
who could become
the new champion.

434
00:28:19,732 --> 00:28:23,067
But, no, he won't, unless
he didn't risk much.

435
00:28:23,069 --> 00:28:25,069
And he risked much.

436
00:28:25,071 --> 00:28:27,071
So he'll finish
in third place,

437
00:28:27,073 --> 00:28:30,441
and, Tim, you remain
"Jeopardy" champion

438
00:28:30,443 --> 00:28:34,245
with now a three-day
total of $56,300.

439
00:28:34,247 --> 00:28:36,113
And, Alison, so close!
So close!

440
00:28:36,115 --> 00:28:37,348
What a game.
I loved it.

441
00:28:37,350 --> 00:28:39,350
I hope you did, too.

I thought the Maurice Richard "50 goals in 50 games" was more famous than that. In the "original 6" era of the NHL, each team played the five other teams ten times. In addition to the 50 in 50, he also was in the hockey fight that started the Quebec independence movement.

Here's the closed-caption transcript:

that he felt more nervous
as the defending champion

13
00:01:08,303 --> 00:01:12,939
on that program yesterday than
he did in his first appearance

"ORE" for $1,000.

58
00:04:01,942 --> 00:04:04,043
Anuj.

59
00:04:04,045 --> 00:04:06,112
-What are encores?
-Correct.

60
00:04:06,114 --> 00:04:07,913
Clues Across America, $400.

61
00:04:07,915 --> 00:04:12,351
<i> Hi, I'm Ben Bailey</i>
<i> from Local 4.</i>

62
00:04:23,864 --> 00:04:25,297
Tim.

63
00:04:25,299 --> 00:04:27,533
-Who is Joe Louis?
-Joe Louis, Detroit, yes.

64
00:04:27,535 --> 00:04:28,868
Clues Across America, $600.

65
00:04:28,870 --> 00:04:32,638
<i> Hi, I'm Cheryl Scott of ABC 7.</i>

66
00:04:43,150 --> 00:04:44,884
Anuj.

67
00:04:44,886 --> 00:04:46,385
-Who is Hancock?
-Yes.

68
00:04:46,387 --> 00:04:47,920
Clues Across America, $800.

69
00:04:47,922 --> 00:04:50,923
<i> Hi, I'm Rob Fowler from News 2.</i>

70
00:05:00,133 --> 00:05:01,634
Tim.

71
00:05:01,636 --> 00:05:03,202
-What is Rainbow Row?
-Yes.

72
00:05:03,204 --> 00:05:04,703
Clues Across America, $1,000.

73
00:05:04,705 --> 00:05:05,905
All right, here we go.

74
00:05:05,907 --> 00:05:09,642
<i> Hi, I'm Juliana Mazza</i>
<i> with 22 News.</i>

75
00:05:18,084 --> 00:05:19,819
Tim.

76
00:05:19,821 --> 00:05:22,121
-What is Geisel?
-Theodor Geisel, that's right.

77
00:05:22,123 --> 00:05:23,589
And you add to your lead.

78
00:05:23,591 --> 00:05:25,958
And we are going to
take our first break

79
00:05:25,960 --> 00:05:27,126
for these messages.

80
00:05:27,128 --> 00:05:28,727
So please stay with us.

81
00:07:32,953 --> 00:07:36,522
People often ask me is
there a way you can prepare

82
00:07:36,524 --> 00:07:39,158
for an appearance
on "Jeopardy!"

83
00:07:39,160 --> 00:07:42,461
Well, Anuj Patel,
you've come up with a way.

84
00:07:42,463 --> 00:07:46,532
Yeah, any big test or interview,
my preparation involves

85
00:07:46,534 --> 00:07:49,034
listening to "The Karate Kid"
theme song --

86
00:07:49,036 --> 00:07:50,936
"You're the Best Around."
-Aha.

87
00:07:50,938 --> 00:07:53,605
So a lot of -- it gets you
really pumped up,

88
00:07:53,607 --> 00:07:55,808
convinces you that
you're the best.

89
00:07:55,810 --> 00:07:58,077
And if you've got enough space,
you can do some crane kicks.

90
00:07:58,079 --> 00:07:59,812
And so far, in your career,
that has worked.

91
00:07:59,814 --> 00:08:01,680
It's worked so far.
It's gotten me here, so...

92
00:08:01,682 --> 00:08:02,948
We'll see
what happens today.

93
00:08:02,950 --> 00:08:06,018
Alison Carey is from
Cleveland Heights, Ohio.

94
00:08:06,020 --> 00:08:07,586
A few years ago, I used

95
00:08:07,588 --> 00:08:10,022
to watch a show
called "Deadwood."

96
00:08:10,024 --> 00:08:12,424
And one of the characters
on that

97
00:08:12,426 --> 00:08:14,793
was Al Swearengen,
is that right?

98
00:08:14,795 --> 00:08:17,563
And you have managed
to trace your family tree

99
00:08:17,565 --> 00:08:19,598
back to someone
with that name?

100
00:08:19,600 --> 00:08:23,035
Yeah, I was -- I saw the name
Swearengen in my family tree,

101
00:08:23,037 --> 00:08:25,637
and I found a website that had
Al Swearengen's family tree,

102
00:08:25,639 --> 00:08:27,606
and I -- well, I'm not
descendant from him,

103
00:08:27,608 --> 00:08:29,908
but we have the same
great-great-great-great-great-

104
00:08:29,910 --> 00:08:31,243
great-great-great-grandfather.

105
00:08:31,245 --> 00:08:32,444
He was a nasty character!

106
00:08:32,446 --> 00:08:33,512
Yeah.

107
00:08:33,514 --> 00:08:35,981
But good for you,
tracking it down.

108
00:08:35,983 --> 00:08:38,183
Tim Aten
from Vermilion, Ohio.

109
00:08:38,185 --> 00:08:40,019
Won a penmanship award --

110
00:08:40,021 --> 00:08:42,654
not at a school,
not at a college.

111
00:08:42,656 --> 00:08:45,257
But at a bar
in a trivia game?

112
00:08:45,259 --> 00:08:46,658
Yeah.
A couple years ago.

113
00:08:46,660 --> 00:08:48,027
I became the de facto captain

114
00:08:48,029 --> 00:08:49,862
of our trivia team
just because I...

115
00:08:49,864 --> 00:08:51,663
-Had good penmanship?
-Yeah.

116
00:08:51,665 --> 00:08:53,866
No, because I'm kind of
a control freak and then...

117
00:08:53,868 --> 00:08:54,933
Oh.

118
00:08:54,935 --> 00:08:56,602
Since I was writing
the answers down,

119
00:08:56,604 --> 00:08:58,604
I was really, really careful
when I wrote them.

120
00:08:58,606 --> 00:09:00,773
And then one night,
the woman running it decided

121
00:09:00,775 --> 00:09:02,841
she was sick of seeing
all the chicken scratch

122
00:09:02,843 --> 00:09:04,109
all the other teams had down

123
00:09:04,111 --> 00:09:06,011
and wanted people to write
their answers clearly,

124
00:09:06,013 --> 00:09:07,012
so I got a free appetizer.

125
00:09:07,014 --> 00:09:09,882
Oh.
Oh, a free appetizer!

126
00:09:09,884 --> 00:09:12,251
Big bucks in those bar
trivia games.

127
00:09:12,253 --> 00:09:14,653
All right,
let's get back into this.

128
00:09:14,655 --> 00:09:15,821
You command the board.

129
00:09:15,823 --> 00:09:17,189
Nuts for $200.

130
00:09:24,731 --> 00:09:26,331
Anuj.

131
00:09:26,333 --> 00:09:27,499
-What are chestnuts?
-Yes.

132
00:09:27,501 --> 00:09:28,534
Nuts, $400.

133
00:09:36,509 --> 00:09:37,743
Alison.

134
00:09:37,745 --> 00:09:40,379
-What is pecan?
-Yes, you're on the board.

135
00:09:40,381 --> 00:09:41,547
Structured, $200.

136
00:09:45,852 --> 00:09:46,919
Tim.

137
00:09:46,921 --> 00:09:48,120
-What is a kennel?
-That's it.

138
00:09:48,122 --> 00:09:49,254
Nuts for $600.

139
00:09:57,330 --> 00:09:58,864
Anuj.

140
00:09:58,866 --> 00:09:59,998
What are macadamias?

141
00:10:00,000 --> 00:10:01,800
Yeah, but you got
to love them anyway. Go.

142
00:10:01,802 --> 00:10:03,235
That's Just Nuts! $800.

143
00:10:08,775 --> 00:10:10,075
Alison.

144
00:10:10,077 --> 00:10:11,543
-What's cashew?
-Yeah.

145
00:10:11,545 --> 00:10:12,444
Nuts, $1,000.

146
00:10:20,353 --> 00:10:21,854
Anuj.

147
00:10:21,856 --> 00:10:23,889
-What are pistachios?
-That's it.

148
00:10:23,891 --> 00:10:25,290
Barrage of Books, $200.

149
00:10:33,399 --> 00:10:34,867
Alison.

150
00:10:34,869 --> 00:10:36,368
-What is "Goodnight Moon"?
-Right.

151
00:10:36,370 --> 00:10:37,469
Books, $400.

152
00:10:43,810 --> 00:10:45,344
Tim.

153
00:10:45,346 --> 00:10:47,412
-Who was Madame Bovary?
-Correct.

154
00:10:47,414 --> 00:10:48,413
Books for $600.

155
00:10:54,187 --> 00:10:55,654
Alison.

156
00:10:55,656 --> 00:10:58,824
-Who is Scott?
-Scott -- Sir Walter Scott, yes.

157
00:10:58,826 --> 00:11:00,726
Less than a minute
to go now.

158
00:11:00,728 --> 00:11:01,593
Books, $800.

159
00:11:01,595 --> 00:11:03,996
Answer...

160
00:11:03,998 --> 00:11:06,632
And just like that,
you can get yourself

161
00:11:06,634 --> 00:11:08,967
right back
into the thick of this.

162
00:11:08,969 --> 00:11:10,536
Let's make it a true
Daily Double.

163
00:11:10,538 --> 00:11:11,970
All right.
Here is your clue.

164
00:11:27,086 --> 00:11:30,222
Alison?
Say something.

165
00:11:30,224 --> 00:11:31,523
[ Beep ]

166
00:11:31,525 --> 00:11:34,126
"Schindler's Ark."
Ark.

167
00:11:34,128 --> 00:11:36,328
All right, pick again.

168
00:11:36,330 --> 00:11:37,863
Books, $1,000.

169
00:11:37,865 --> 00:11:40,299
This Frenchman's novel,
"Nausea,"

170
00:11:40,301 --> 00:11:42,568
is about a man
coming to terms

171
00:11:42,570 --> 00:11:45,938
with the meaning or
meaninglessness of existence.

172
00:11:45,940 --> 00:11:47,206
Alison.

173
00:11:47,208 --> 00:11:48,473
Who is Camus?

174
00:11:48,475 --> 00:11:49,541
No.

175
00:11:49,543 --> 00:11:51,910
Anuj or Tim?

176
00:11:51,912 --> 00:11:54,146
Who is Jean-Paul Sartre?
Go again, Alison.

177
00:11:54,148 --> 00:11:55,113
Structure, $400.

178
00:12:01,087 --> 00:12:02,387
Anuj.

179
00:12:02,389 --> 00:12:03,355
-What is a warehouse?
-That's it.

180
00:12:03,357 --> 00:12:04,423
[ Beep beep beep ]

181
00:12:04,425 --> 00:12:05,657
And with that,
you go to $4,600.

182
00:12:05,659 --> 00:12:06,825
You're still
in second place.

183
00:12:06,827 --> 00:12:08,160
Alison faltering a little,

184
00:12:08,162 --> 00:12:10,629
but a lot of cash available
in Double Jeopardy!

185
00:12:10,631 --> 00:12:12,965
And that's the round
in which she goes first,

186
00:12:12,967 --> 00:12:14,466
when we come back.

187
00:14:48,020 --> 00:14:49,788
<i> Closed captioning</i>
<i> sponsored in part by...</i>

188
00:15:11,344 --> 00:15:12,577
Alex: Alison was doing well,

189
00:15:12,579 --> 00:15:14,246
faltered a little
on a Daily Double,

190
00:15:14,248 --> 00:15:16,948
but now gets to go first
in Double Jeopardy!,

191
00:15:16,950 --> 00:15:18,617
with these categories in play.

192
00:15:31,764 --> 00:15:33,198
[ Laughter ]

193
00:15:33,200 --> 00:15:35,967
All right,
Alison, off you go.

194
00:15:35,969 --> 00:15:38,103
Out of Africa for $400.

195
00:15:44,710 --> 00:15:45,911
Tim.

196
00:15:45,913 --> 00:15:47,579
-What is an ostrich?
-That's it.

197
00:15:47,581 --> 00:15:48,447
Africa for $800.

198
00:15:48,449 --> 00:15:50,148
Here's Kelly.

199
00:15:50,150 --> 00:15:53,018
<i> A stress-reliever</i>
<i> that strengthens the spine</i>

200
00:15:53,020 --> 00:15:56,655
<i> and even stretches the lungs,</i>
<i> this yoga pose gets its name</i>

201
00:15:56,657 --> 00:15:58,857
<i> from a great</i>
<i> Egyptian landmark.</i>

202
00:15:58,859 --> 00:16:00,492
Tim.

203
00:16:00,494 --> 00:16:02,093
-What is the sphinx?
-Sphinx, yes.

204
00:16:02,095 --> 00:16:03,261
Out of Africa for $1,200.

205
00:16:10,937 --> 00:16:11,837
Tim again.

206
00:16:11,839 --> 00:16:13,738
-What is Timbuktu?
-Right.

207
00:16:13,740 --> 00:16:15,474
Out of Africa for $1,600.

208
00:16:22,682 --> 00:16:24,115
Alison.

209
00:16:24,117 --> 00:16:26,184
-What is Rastafarianism?
-That's it.

210
00:16:26,186 --> 00:16:27,486
You're out of the hole.

211
00:16:27,488 --> 00:16:28,920
Out of Africa for $2,000.

212
00:16:37,296 --> 00:16:39,097
Anuj.

213
00:16:39,099 --> 00:16:41,733
-What is Bantu?
-Bantu, right you are.

214
00:16:41,735 --> 00:16:43,001
Scientists, $400.

215
00:16:51,944 --> 00:16:53,144
Tim.

216
00:16:53,146 --> 00:16:55,347
-Who is Newton?
-Isaac Newton is right.

217
00:16:55,349 --> 00:16:56,214
"U" for $400.

218
00:17:03,322 --> 00:17:04,389
Tim.

219
00:17:04,391 --> 00:17:07,125
-What is "Ugly Betty"?
-You got it.

220
00:17:07,127 --> 00:17:08,260
"U" for $800.

221
00:17:17,336 --> 00:17:18,303
Alison.

222
00:17:18,305 --> 00:17:20,705
-Who is Uncle Buck?
-Right.

223
00:17:20,707 --> 00:17:21,940
"U," $1,200.

224
00:17:30,283 --> 00:17:31,983
Alison.

225
00:17:31,985 --> 00:17:33,952
-What is "Unreal"?
-You got it again.

226
00:17:33,954 --> 00:17:35,253
Colorful Language, $400.

227
00:17:40,126 --> 00:17:41,593
Tim.

228
00:17:41,595 --> 00:17:43,695
-What is purple prose?
-That's it.

229
00:17:43,697 --> 00:17:44,696
"U" for $1,600.

230
00:17:51,504 --> 00:17:52,704
Alison.

231
00:17:52,706 --> 00:17:54,272
-What is "Upstairs Downstairs"?
-Yes.

232
00:17:54,274 --> 00:17:55,340
"U," $2,000.

233
00:18:02,515 --> 00:18:03,415
Alison.

234
00:18:03,417 --> 00:18:06,017
-What is "U-571"?
-You got it!

235
00:18:06,019 --> 00:18:08,153
Every Claim You Stake, $400.

236
00:18:17,363 --> 00:18:18,697
Tim.

237
00:18:18,699 --> 00:18:20,398
-Who is Alexander the Great?
-He's the one.

238
00:18:20,400 --> 00:18:21,566
Colorful, $800.

239
00:18:25,304 --> 00:18:27,005
Anuj.

240
00:18:27,007 --> 00:18:29,140
-What is a blue blood?
-That's it.

241
00:18:29,142 --> 00:18:30,742
Colorful language, $1,200.

242
00:18:35,615 --> 00:18:37,015
Tim.

243
00:18:37,017 --> 00:18:38,783
-What is a yellow jacket?
-Right.

244
00:18:38,785 --> 00:18:39,751
Colorful, $1,600.

245
00:18:42,521 --> 00:18:43,555
Alison.

246
00:18:43,557 --> 00:18:46,424
-What is the green monster?
-Nope.

247
00:18:46,426 --> 00:18:48,093
Oh.

248
00:18:48,095 --> 00:18:49,194
Tim or Anuj.

249
00:18:49,196 --> 00:18:50,128
[ Beep ]

250
00:18:50,130 --> 00:18:51,963
"What is
the green-eyed monster?"

251
00:18:51,965 --> 00:18:54,132
You were close, Alison.
Tim, back to you.

252
00:18:54,134 --> 00:18:55,266
Colorful for $2,000.

253
00:19:02,875 --> 00:19:04,175
[ Beep ]

254
00:19:04,177 --> 00:19:06,511
The word
this time is whitewash.

255
00:19:06,513 --> 00:19:07,679
Tim, back to you.

256
00:19:07,681 --> 00:19:09,347
Every Move You Make, $400.

257
00:19:16,722 --> 00:19:18,289
Anuj.

258
00:19:18,291 --> 00:19:19,691
-What is chess?
-That's it.

259
00:19:19,693 --> 00:19:21,259
Scientists, $800.

260
00:19:28,300 --> 00:19:29,801
Anuj.

261
00:19:29,803 --> 00:19:31,469
-Who is Goodall?
-Jane Goodall, yes.

262
00:19:31,471 --> 00:19:32,404
Scientists, $1,200.

263
00:19:41,647 --> 00:19:43,148
Anuj.

264
00:19:43,150 --> 00:19:45,283
-Who is Volta?
-Alessandro Volta, good.

265
00:19:45,285 --> 00:19:46,384
Scientists, $1,600.

266
00:19:52,925 --> 00:19:54,526
Anuj.

267
00:19:54,528 --> 00:19:55,760
Who is Leahy?

268
00:19:55,762 --> 00:19:57,162
No.
Alison.

269
00:19:57,164 --> 00:19:59,397
-Who is Mead?
-Margaret Mead, you got her.

270
00:19:59,399 --> 00:20:00,465
Scientists, $2,000.

271
00:20:10,409 --> 00:20:11,876
[ Beep ]

272
00:20:11,878 --> 00:20:13,078
That was Lord Kelvin.

273
00:20:13,080 --> 00:20:15,447
Two categories still
in play there, Alison.

274
00:20:15,449 --> 00:20:17,282
Every Move You Make, $800.

275
00:20:24,023 --> 00:20:25,590
Anuj.

276
00:20:25,592 --> 00:20:27,592
-What is a blitz?
-Blitz, right you are.

277
00:20:27,594 --> 00:20:28,960
Every Move You Make, $1,200.

278
00:20:37,503 --> 00:20:38,870
Anuj.

279
00:20:38,872 --> 00:20:41,439
-What is sword fighting?
-Sword fighting, yes.

280
00:20:41,441 --> 00:20:42,974
Every Move You Make, $1,600.

281
00:20:42,976 --> 00:20:44,109
Answer there...

282
00:20:45,911 --> 00:20:48,613
And at the moment, you are
just $200 off the lead.

283
00:20:48,615 --> 00:20:52,717
Uh...I'll do $2,000.

284
00:20:52,719 --> 00:20:54,352
Okay, here's the clue.

285
00:21:04,730 --> 00:21:05,864
What is "Risk"?

286
00:21:05,866 --> 00:21:09,033
No. What is
"Rock, Paper, Scissors"?

287
00:21:09,035 --> 00:21:11,836
You are now at $8,200.
Go again.

288
00:21:11,838 --> 00:21:15,240
Every Claim You Stake, $1,600.

289
00:21:22,848 --> 00:21:24,115
Tim.

290
00:21:24,117 --> 00:21:25,150
What is Australia?

291
00:21:25,152 --> 00:21:27,452
No.
Alison or Anuj?

292
00:21:27,454 --> 00:21:28,453
[ Beep ]

293
00:21:28,455 --> 00:21:29,654
"What is Antarctica?"

294
00:21:29,656 --> 00:21:31,689
And we have less than a minute
to go now, Anuj.

295
00:21:31,691 --> 00:21:33,057
Every Claim You Stake, $1,200.

296
00:21:33,059 --> 00:21:35,860
Answer...
the other Daily Double.

297
00:21:35,862 --> 00:21:40,598
And at the moment,
you trail Tim by $600.

298
00:21:40,600 --> 00:21:42,901
I'll do $2,000 again.

299
00:21:42,903 --> 00:21:44,702
$2,000 again, all right.
Here's the clue.

300
00:21:55,548 --> 00:21:56,748
What are Sooners?

301
00:21:56,750 --> 00:21:58,750
Sooners, right.
Pick again.

302
00:21:59,919 --> 00:22:02,520
Every Claim You Stake, $600 --
or $800.

303
00:22:08,127 --> 00:22:09,594
Anuj.

304
00:22:09,596 --> 00:22:11,029
-What is Jordan?
-Yes.

305
00:22:11,031 --> 00:22:12,697
Every Claim You Stake, $2,000.

306
00:22:21,674 --> 00:22:23,007
Alison.

307
00:22:23,009 --> 00:22:24,075
What is the North Sea?

308
00:22:24,077 --> 00:22:25,910
No.
Anuj or Tim?

309
00:22:25,912 --> 00:22:26,945
[ Beep ]

310
00:22:26,947 --> 00:22:28,613
"What is
the South China Sea?"

311
00:22:28,615 --> 00:22:29,614
Now the last clue --

312
00:22:29,616 --> 00:22:30,715
[ Beep beep beep ]

313
00:22:30,717 --> 00:22:32,650
Well, we won't get to make
that last move.

314
00:22:32,652 --> 00:22:34,953
All three of you still alive
for Final Jeopardy!

315
00:22:34,955 --> 00:22:37,689
And here it comes.
The category is Authors.

316
00:22:37,691 --> 00:22:39,591
Think about it.
I hope you're well read.

317
00:22:39,593 --> 00:22:41,459
We'll reveal the clue
when we come back.

318
00:22:42,795 --> 00:22:42,894
Think about it.
I hope you're well read.

319
00:22:43,028 --> 00:22:44,195
As soon as I left the hospital

320
00:22:44,230 --> 00:22:45,830
after a DVT blood clot,

321
00:22:45,865 --> 00:22:47,532
I sure had a lot
to think about.

322
00:22:47,566 --> 00:22:49,467
What about the
people I care about?

323
00:22:49,501 --> 00:22:51,269
...including this little girl.

324
00:22:51,303 --> 00:22:53,538
And what if this
happened again?

325
00:22:53,572 --> 00:22:55,340
I was given warfarin
in the hospital,

326
00:22:55,374 --> 00:22:57,976
but wondered, was this the
best treatment for me?

327
00:22:58,010 --> 00:22:59,310
So I asked my doctor.

328
00:22:59,345 --> 00:23:01,079
And he recommended ELIQUIS.

329
00:23:01,113 --> 00:23:03,815
ELIQUIS treats DVT
and PE blood clots

330
00:23:03,849 --> 00:23:06,384
and reduces the risk of
them happening again.

331
00:23:06,418 --> 00:23:09,420
Yes, ELIQUIS treats DVT
and PE blood clots.

332
00:23:09,455 --> 00:23:10,722
ELIQUIS also had

333
00:23:10,756 --> 00:23:12,624
significantly
less major
bleeding

334
00:23:12,658 --> 00:23:14,192
than the
standard
treatment.

335
00:23:14,226 --> 00:23:16,661
Both made me
turn around my
thinking.

336
00:23:16,695 --> 00:23:18,730
Don't stop ELIQUIS
unless your doctor tells you to.

337
00:23:18,764 --> 00:23:21,933
ELIQUIS can cause serious and
in rare cases fatal bleeding.

338
00:23:21,967 --> 00:23:24,135
Don't take ELIQUIS if you have
an artificial heart valve

339
00:23:24,169 --> 00:23:25,603
or abnormal bleeding.

340
00:23:25,638 --> 00:23:27,672
If you had a spinal injection
while on ELIQUIS

341
00:23:27,706 --> 00:23:28,873
call your doctor right away

342
00:23:28,908 --> 00:23:30,975
if you have tingling,
numbness, or muscle weakness.

343
00:23:31,010 --> 00:23:33,511
While taking ELIQUIS,
you may bruise more easily

344
00:23:33,545 --> 00:23:35,880
...and it may take longer
than usual for bleeding to stop.

345
00:23:35,915 --> 00:23:38,216
Seek immediate medical care
for sudden signs of bleeding,

346
00:23:38,250 --> 00:23:39,550
like unusual bruising.

347
00:23:39,585 --> 00:23:41,519
ELIQUIS may increase
your bleeding risk

348
00:23:41,553 --> 00:23:42,754
if you take
certain medicines.

349
00:23:42,788 --> 00:23:44,756
Tell your doctor
about all planned

350
00:23:44,790 --> 00:23:46,224
medical or dental
procedures.

351
00:23:46,258 --> 00:23:49,160
ELIQUIS treats
DVT and PE
blood clots.

352
00:23:49,194 --> 00:23:51,229
Plus had
less major
bleeding.

353
00:23:51,263 --> 00:23:53,831
Both made ELIQUIS
the right treatment for me.

354
00:23:53,866 --> 00:23:56,868
Ask your doctor if switching
to ELIQUIS is right for you.

355
00:23:58,470 --> 00:24:00,004
With Advil, you'll ask

356
00:24:00,039 --> 00:24:02,006
What bad knee?

357
00:24:02,041 --> 00:24:04,008
What throbbing head?

358
00:24:04,043 --> 00:24:06,344
Advil makes pain a distant
memory

359
00:24:06,378 --> 00:24:07,512
Nothing works faster

360
00:24:07,546 --> 00:24:08,179
Stronger

361
00:24:08,213 --> 00:24:09,013
Or Longer

362
00:24:09,048 --> 00:24:10,348
What

363
00:24:10,382 --> 00:24:11,182
Pain?

364
00:24:11,216 --> 00:24:12,550
Advil.

00:24:57,763 --> 00:25:01,666

381
00:25:01,700 --> 00:25:04,936
If you have COPD, you know
that feeling

382
00:25:04,970 --> 00:25:08,072
when you just can't catch your
breath.

383
00:25:08,107 --> 00:25:11,776
When it feels so close but just
out of reach.

384
00:25:11,810 --> 00:25:14,846
And the more you worry, the
worse it seems to get.

385
00:25:14,880 --> 00:25:16,647
Now's the time to help put
better breathing

386
00:25:16,682 --> 00:25:18,082
back within reach.

387
00:25:18,117 --> 00:25:20,018
Now's the time for STIOLTO.

388
00:25:20,052 --> 00:25:22,253
Once-daily, steroid-free
STIOLTO

389
00:25:22,287 --> 00:25:24,322
opens airways in just
5 minutes

390
00:25:24,356 --> 00:25:27,558
to improve your breathing for a
full 24 hours.

391
00:25:27,593 --> 00:25:29,360
<i>STIOLTO is not for asthma.</i>

392
00:25:29,395 --> 00:25:31,696
<i>It contains a medicine that</i>
<i>increases the risk of death</i>

393
00:25:31,730 --> 00:25:32,930
<i>in people with asthma.</i>

394
00:25:32,965 --> 00:25:34,932
<i>This risk is unknown in COPD.</i>

395
00:25:34,967 --> 00:25:37,769
<i>STIOLTO doesn't replace rescue</i>
<i>inhalers for sudden symptoms</i>

396
00:25:37,803 --> 00:25:39,637
<i>and should not be used more than</i>
<i>once a day,</i>

397
00:25:39,671 --> 00:25:40,805
<i>or with similar medicines.</i>

398
00:25:40,839 --> 00:25:42,573
<i>Tell your doctor is you have a</i>
<i>heart condition,</i>

399
00:25:42,608 --> 00:25:44,976
<i>high blood pressure, glaucoma,</i>
<i>prostate, bladder,</i>

400
00:25:45,010 --> 00:25:46,244
<i>or urinary problems.</i>

401
00:25:46,278 --> 00:25:47,812
<i>These may worsen with STIOLTO.</i>

402
00:25:47,846 --> 00:25:49,847
<i>Call your doctor if your</i>
<i>breathing problems worsen,</i>

403
00:25:49,882 --> 00:25:52,183
<i>or if you have chest pain, mouth</i>
<i>or tongue swelling,</i>

404
00:25:52,217 --> 00:25:55,019
<i>problems urinating, hives,</i>
<i>vision changes or eye pain.</i>

405

But STIOLTO can significantly
improve your breathing.

Can't catch your breath?

With STIOLTO, better breathing
is within reach.

The category has to do
with authors,

414
00:26:55,415 --> 00:26:57,348
and here is your clue, players.

415
00:27:10,095 --> 00:27:12,163
30 seconds.
Good luck.

[ Theme music plays ]

417
00:27:42,828 --> 00:27:45,029
Alex: Alison,
we come to you first.

418
00:27:45,031 --> 00:27:46,230
You had $4,200.

419
00:27:46,232 --> 00:27:48,766
A little bit of misfortune
on a Daily Double earlier.

420
00:27:48,768 --> 00:27:49,934
And you wrote down...

421
00:27:50,969 --> 00:27:52,403
...the name of the woman

422
00:27:52,405 --> 00:27:54,639
who wrote six novels --
Jane Austen.

423
00:27:54,641 --> 00:27:55,740
You're right.

424
00:27:55,742 --> 00:27:57,975
And your wager?
Everything.

425
00:27:57,977 --> 00:28:01,012
So you're at $8,400 as we go
to our champion, Tim.

426
00:28:01,014 --> 00:28:03,347
He had $8,800.

427
00:28:03,349 --> 00:28:04,982
Did he come up
with Jane Austen?

428
00:28:04,984 --> 00:28:06,083
He did not.

429
00:28:06,085 --> 00:28:08,019
Picked Charles Dickens
instead.

430
00:28:08,021 --> 00:28:10,154
How much did
he wager and lose?

431
00:28:10,156 --> 00:28:12,657
$300.
Oh.

432
00:28:12,659 --> 00:28:17,094
So he leads you, Alison,
by $100 as we go to Anuj,

433
00:28:17,096 --> 00:28:19,730
who could become
the new champion.

434
00:28:19,732 --> 00:28:23,067
But, no, he won't, unless
he didn't risk much.

435
00:28:23,069 --> 00:28:25,069
And he risked much.

436
00:28:25,071 --> 00:28:27,071
So he'll finish
in third place,

437
00:28:27,073 --> 00:28:30,441
and, Tim, you remain
"Jeopardy" champion

438
00:28:30,443 --> 00:28:34,245
with now a three-day
total of $56,300.

439
00:28:34,247 --> 00:28:36,113
And, Alison, so close!
So close!

440
00:28:36,115 --> 00:28:37,348
What a game.
I loved it.

441
00:28:37,350 --> 00:28:39,350
I hope you did, too.

I am quite confused by that clue. Esposito scored some 70+ goals in the 70-71 (I think) season. 50 goals in a season was old hat in 1981 when Gretzky scored 50 in 39 games.

What am I missing?

The category was SPORTS ROUND NUMBERS (What we call pretty numbers around here).

When Dennis Maruk of Washington had EXACTLY 50 goals on the nose in 1980-81 that was the first time since the Rocket that a player matched that goal total for a season.
I think the clue is referring to the feat of scoring 50 goals in 50 games, specifically the first 50 games of the season. The next player to accomplish the feat after Richard was Mike Bossy of the Islanders, in 1981. 50 Goals in 50 Games

Your explanation and research is far superior to mine. Thank you. I should stay out of hockey history posts since I had a late start following the sport, as before the Sharks and Sega Genesis I paid little attention.

Since I did not know about the "50 in 50" stat being famous in NHL lore, my alternate explanation for the clue was that they were referring to Wayne Gretzky in 1981-82, becoming the first player to average at least 1.00 goals per game, as he scored 92 goals in 80 games that season, obviously topping Richard's feat of 50 in 50. Of course the clue didn't actually say this, but I thought maybe some words got edited out for space or something. Clearly Matty's explanation is the correct one now that I see it, as the year on Gretzky would have been off by one anyway. (Although Gretzky did actually join Bossy with 50 in 50 in 1981, as he got such a fast start on the 81-82 season that he scored his 50th goal in the Oilers' 39th game, on December 30th.

I'm not a big hockey fan, but I do know an NHL season is 82 games long. I also know seasons were shorter back then and 50 goals in 50 games sounded like a better round number than 60 in 60 or 70 in 70.

I had the right idea but went with 40. I probably get that right in LL but in the short time frame I just spat out a number that was a multiple of 5 since I knew it was a 6-team league then.

THANK YOU OPUSTHEPENGUIN!!

Not only was the transcript otherwise lost to "the ether," but I couldn't even remember *WHO* I had to show it to, but I knew it was important!

Turns out it was the second contestant, who traced down the Swearengen family name. I KNOW somebody very well who has a variant spelling of that name, and who has worked massively on researching all of the people who are related, and I think he even has a PUBLISHED HARD COVER BOOK with early research! Therefore, very possible that they may actually be able to help each other with this. My friend, who is in Kansas, told me that he has come up with 27 spelling variations in his research - and I'm not sure if he's managed to get back research dating to as many "great-"s as she mentioned...

I appreciate this greatly! Is there a website for these transcripts? There have been a handful of other times I've wished I could find a transcript, though those other times are now entirely lost to me.

I notice that I THOUGHT there would be automatic daily notifications of replies, but I didn't get anything in my email, so I checked manually and...there it was!

Hoping everybody has great holidays and such! (And, yes, I said "holidays" here - because virtually EVERYBODY observes at least two holidays between now and New Year's Day.)
