So, at the risk of committing a social gaffe by asking here, I was wondering whether I might ask for a referral for Learned League. I've enjoyed reading your responses and seemed have done okay on season 72 questions. It sounds like a lot of fun, and my regular pub quiz team is going on hiatus for a while. Thanks in advance!

As soon as I saw the answer, I reread the question, and I realized that I didn't key in on the word "character".

Little by little, I'm getting better and paying closer attention to how the questions are worded.

I secured first in D Pacific 2 yesterday! I've been in C twice before, and been relegated back to D twice before. Hopefully third time is the charm staying in C. Congrats to everyone on a great season!

Thanks for giving me one of my four. My tie record was 6 in LL68.
I somehow finished ninth out of 34, not in the promotion zone but maybe Thorsten will give me a battlefield promotion anyway. He always sends up more than he says he does. I missed the cut by one position after LL70.
Hard to believe thethirdmoose got relegated, but some people down in the red zone had really tough schedules.
Hoping for a third lap

Wow, I just looked at my final stats and my DE was .828. On 6 of my last 7 wins I either answered the same or fewer correct questions than my opponents.

How exactly is this stat calculated?

From www.learnedleague.com/thorsten/statskey.php :
UfPA = Unforced Points Allowed
The total number of points allowed above that which would have been allowed with perfect defense (i.e. if one's opponent answered four correct and scored 7, he gave up 3 UfPA [7-4]).

DE = Defensive Efficiency
The total number of UfPA you could have but did not allow divided by the total number you could have allowed. This measures how stingy your defense is. The higher the number the better; 1.000 is perfect (means you did not give up any UfPA).

Congrats to dnbguy and Volante for their promotions!

I had my highest TCA ever with 89, but some bad defense and some bad luck left me with a record of 11-11-3. I find it interesting that I lost, tied, or split with all of the players that finished above me and won, tied, or split with all of the players that finished below me.

I have managed to wind up in first place in B Sierra despite my best efforts.

LL73 will be my first time in an A rundle. I await a swift and well-deserved defenestration.

Somehow, through many stokes of luck and decent defense, I ended up 2nd in C Prairie. Will trade spots with my brother, who's moving from B to C, so our first match against each other won't happen yet. I've gone R-D-C-D-C-B so far, so maybe I can stay put in one Rundle for more than a season. Most likely I'll be back in C where I belong, though. Looking forward to the MLs and 1Ds!

My second year in Continental D.

I finished tied for second in total correct answers (85), sole possession of second for total match points (116), and 5th in defensive efficiency (.708).

And I finish 16th out of 28! :evil:

At least I was vindicated by being named 23rd least lucky LLama.

Congrats to all of you who secured promotions (even if you didn't want them).

I'll get 'em next year!

The groups for the ML's went up yesterday. I'm in Group 88 of The Atlantic and 24 of Just Images Maps 4. I don't recognize any boardies or J! notables. I didn't get any of the sample questions for 20th Century Fiction so I didn't bother entering that.

Oh, shoot. I forgot to sign up for those. I guess I'll be watching from the sidelines.

I'm in Group 48 for 20th C fiction and Group 95 for JI Maps 2. Can't say that I recognize any names from here, but I didn't delve too deeply.

Group 144 in Maps here. Don't recognize any names, am I missing a name I should know of these gross* people?

I'm in 93 for Maps, 14 for Atlantic, and 94 for 20th Century Fiction. A brief overview only shows me a certain RandallB in the fiction group. Didn't see any other boardies (but I don't know a ton of names) and didn't look closely for any J! names yet besides the hopefully future multi-day champ I just mentioned ;) .

First, a belated thank you to all of the A Magnolia and Rundle in the Jundle members who made it a fun season! I wound up right in the middle of A Magnolia (13 of 26) with my best season of TCA, and better luck when facing my dear husband. I am sure karma will even out soon on that front. ;)

I somehow thought I had enough time to do three minileagues, despite coming close to forfeiting several times this season. I didn't recognize any names on a quick scan, but let me know if you are an opponent!

I'm in Atlantic group 32 and Maps group 137. It appears that in the Maps group, 9 of the members of our group have a career QPct in Geography over .700. This is like the College Football 2 minileague (where most of the people in my rundle got more than the ML median and I got 61 TCA and missed the finals) all over again.
