Re: Thursday, April 20 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]
That is the kind of FJ! clue that is advantage to the second place player especially with third place well back.
Emmett’s two DD hits plus the Alien off Aliens rebound set him up for the lead entering the FJ! round. Not a good place to be today.
I tried different categories to work out a guess. For money-making actresses I had Julia Roberts & ScarJo. For recent Oscar winners I had Emma Stone and Brie Larson. For alliterative Amy Adams was the only guess I could work out to write. For running through the alphabet either A to Z or in reverse it would have taken some time to get to the middle.
The path of thinking of the remake of Ghostbusters or Bridesmaids just to recall a group of working women in one shot was not happening.
Would it have been the crime of the century for the clue to hint at her comedic background, TV stardom, or something else to spice it up?

Agreed. "Alliterative funnywoman" doesn't give it away too hard, I don't think. And I think another clue is called for, especially with Amy Adams as a very tempting wrong guess.MarkBarrett wrote: ↑Thu Apr 20, 2017 2:24 pmWould it have been the crime of the century for the clue to hint at her comedic background, TV stardom, or something else to spice it up?
Going to TV as a clue wouldn't have helped me. I hit on Kaley Kuoco (misspelled), and would have stayed there on a TV hint.

Went with Amy Adams in studio. Found irony when the correct answer was revealed, and I had just finished the Sony tour with plenty of Ghostbusters memorabilia and images everywhere on the lot.

I feel a lot less tired. Took advantage of my two days off.
That Bible category was really tough. DD was at best a coinflip on Ruth/Esther, because who's to say they don't throw in Judith or one of the other female-titled apocrypha?
Florence + the Machine (NHOI) = Dog Days Are Over was my only miss in Rock.
NHO "flagrant" so I was 4/5 in Differ by 1 Letter.
So that's where Bohemia is.
Ran Logos.
Ebony is a wood?!?!
NHO any of those books.
WLT Star Trek, opium, or butterfly at $400?
Who the hell is Melissa McCarthy?

I couldn't come up with anything for Final. Lindsay Lohan popped into my head but that was obviously very wrong.

That was my guess, too (She's #7 on the list). If you had told me it was Melissa McCarthy, I still probably would have ignored it and went with Amy Adams.MinnesotaMyron wrote: ↑Thu Apr 20, 2017 3:41 pm Agreed. No clue on FJ. Went with Amy Adams.
Surprised that MBarrett didn't catch the hint. In the game Alex made the comment "whatcha gonna do", I guess that is the hint for Ghostbusters remake. If you get this far, you will probably get the right answer.

I don't do well on Pop culture. So I have to check here to see if it is a easy clue. Looks not so far.MarkBarrett wrote: ↑Thu Apr 20, 2017 8:14 pmWhatcha gonna do? to Who you gonna call? This game is a win for the Intermediate Form of Shore's Conjecture. The second-place player bet "small." --Bob

I played FJ off website. So when I watched the game, I guess I was influenced by knowing FJ. It felt like Alex was hinting at Ghostbusters. Yeah..Not working well.econgator wrote: ↑Thu Apr 20, 2017 8:05 pmWhat does that have to do with Ghostbusters?doihavetoreally wrote: ↑Thu Apr 20, 2017 8:04 pm In the game Alex made the comment "whatcha gonna do", I guess that is the hint for Ghostbusters remake.

Came up with Melissa McCarthy at around the 27-second mark. No way I could've written it down in time

I was proud of myself for thinking of Amy Adams. Ooops.
Teems with quiet fun.

I was expecting a pedantic user to have already said something along the lines of, "it obviously wasn't going to be Amy Adams, because alliteration doesn't count with vowel sounds."

Re: Thursday, April 20, 2017 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]
I would have been, too. Total brain freeze on both Amy Adams and Melissa McCarthy. The only alliterative actress name I could think of was Susan Sarandon, while knowing it was incorrect.
I'm not the defending Jeopardy! champion. But I have played one on TV.
