My first thought for Grinderman's year was 2008, but I knew it was older than that. Then I went too far back.

Of course everyone knows Peter Gabriel's first four albums were all called Peter Gabriel, so I should avoid that.

Of Grinderman and The Lumineers, Grinderman was more likely to be a singleton, and I was 100% sure it was right.
Spoiler
There's also a song on it called Grinderman, so sometimes my iPod will say:

Grinderman
Grinderman
Grinderman
So I went with that.

The Lumineers came out in 2012, so I was going to miss the bonus either way, but Peter Gabriel's first album came out in 1977. And nobody said it.
i came up with 3 initially...wilson philipps, garth brooks, and metallica...went with wilson philipps and 1 other person put that...had i gone with either of the latter, i would have been singleton

my mistake...metallica would not have fit here...since it was debut self titled albums...good thing i didn't go with that

I didn't manage to enter this, but I would've given an answer to #7 that I haven't seen yet: "Weird Al" Yankovic.

Three Dog Night, Emerson, Lake & Palmer, The Doobie Brothers, Foghat, Queen, Aerosmith

Others that performed at Woodstock: Canned Heat, Crosby Stills & Nash, Greatful Dead, Santana

A few from the late 70s early 80s: The Cars, The B-52s, Christopher Cross, Huey Lewis and the News ....

Yah, this question had Singleton written all over it. I can't believe there were people that took the SHEEP or DROP on it.

Taking the Sheep is understandable if you're not much of a music fan and playing conservatively. Because this would be the question with the lowest Sheep score. And Drop would make sense for the same reasons as above for people who are reluctant to use a Sheep (such as myself).

Usually, when forced to play a TD album question, I'll use the tried-and-true "pray the band in question released a self-titled album so I don't take a neg" trick. So I remembered the White Stripes from a previous TD. I've certainly heard of a lot of the answers, but could I have told you that they put out self-titled albums before this TD, let alone that they were debut albums? !@^*# no. I'm really bad at music trivia though.

9. AUDITION – Name any film (non-documentary, feature length, domestic or foreign) that has an audition scene, i.e., a performer trying out for a role in film, theater, dance, etc.

I've got a lot of movies to get through before I can score this question ;)

I'll be reaching out to some of you to verify the audition scene, so please check your messages

I shot myself in the foot with this question. Too many movies to look at! Is there an audition scene in The Goodbye Girl?

I watched the first hour of A Star is Born (1954) last night. No audition scene. Esther Blodgett goes for a screen test, but we don't see it. Not sure if this was part of the missing footage; interesting how they put film stills in the movie to replace the lost scenes, but I digress. We only see Esther in the make-up chair then stumbling around the lot after she's signed a contract with the studio. Great film, though - thanks for making me see it. And no, I've never seen A Star is Born and many other classic films! ;)

If I might offer a suggestion, ask the group here. I'm sure between all of us, we can fill in the blanks. Perhaps put up a list of the movies (sans the name of the entrants) and any of us who are sure there is an audition scene can give specifics on it. At the very minimum, it will pare down your list.

Thanks,

I've gone through most and I'm being generous by including model and cheerleader tryouts. Kind of left the door open with 'etc.'

The Goodbye Girl
Dance with Me - dance competition does not qualify, so I'm thinking no

Well, The Goodbye Girl was my answer. Early in the movie, Marsha Mason is auditioning for a dancing role. Here's a photo https://www.amazon.com/Goodbye-Marsha-M ... B01N6NFXSQ

My answer was "The Star", with Bette Davis. I had just watched that in recent weeks on one of the cable movie channels. In that film, she plays a fallen star who attempts a comeback and against her agent's advice, changes the way she plays an audition scene.
