I dithered between All That Jazz, Fame, and Waiting for Guffman for a minute or so. Discarded Fame thinking it had a good chance of sheeping, went with Jazz simply because it was a few years older than Guffman and might not be remembered as much. Lots of calculation for naught -- all three would have been singletons.

Doesn't come close to making up for the innumerable times I've thought I had an obscure answer and wound up in the sheep pen, though.
I'm not the defending Jeopardy! champion. But I have played one on TV.

Ahh, I was hoping someone would go with Waiting for Guffman! I'm glad Mulholland Drive got picked though

No one mentioned the Japanese horror film Audition!?!

I posted this question on my FB page and got a gazillion replies: Whiplash, Annie Hall, White Christmas, Girls Just Want to Have Fun and many more!

White Christmas could have started some interesting discussion -- as I recall, there was no specifically purposeful audition scene; Bob Hope and Danny Kaye simply attended a nightclub performance of Rosemary Clooney and Vera Ellen to "check out a sister act." Would it be considered an audition if they were performing for an audience anyway? I could see people arguing either way.

I thought of it, but I haven't seen it, so I wasn't sure how literal the title was.

The other answers I had written down were Pitch Perfect (seemed too obvious) and Hamlet 2 (but I wasn't sure I had the title right, and I'm still not sure there's an audition scene). I only thought of Fame and A Chorus Line after I submitted. Thanks for including an "etc." I could read a lot into.

I forgot to mention earlier that I was seconds away from submitting when I realized my answer of Tuvalu could just as easily be Vanuatu and changed to something else. So at least I avoided one wrong answer.

I doubt it - it seems more like scouting than an audition. At the least, I'd think an auditioner would have to be intentionally seeking a role or job.

I actually almost went with that one, but decided that if someone blanked on another movie that they'd just write in "Audition" and hope for the best haha. Fantastic movie!

Pretty surprised at my singleton with Fujisan though!

I was tempted to drop the audition question and go to the UNESCO one, but I figured that it would be wide open, and the odds of a bone-shattering sheep were low. I'll take my singletons how ever I can get them, even with awful movies!

I've never seen it!! Need to see that and GET OUT before anything else

I just watched Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore - I guess I would have accepted that for the scene where she tries to get a singing job in a bar

I've never seen Gypsy but that would count, too, right? The opening "May We Entertain You" is an audition of sorts

Final results tomorrow morning. Sorry for the hiccup with Q9

Thanks for the fun game Morbeedo! I almost went with one of the three biggest sheep on question 11, but then I decided to pay homage to a fellow boardie because I knew the atomic number (once or twice, I have referred to him as element number 106). Kind of kept me out of the bottom 5?

Oh, yeah, congratulations McSheffrey!

I cheered aloud after seeing the Q11 standings and then abruptly cut myself off when I realized that there was still the bonus. I knew that I had no chance of getting the bonus (and couldn't even hazard a guess with my DROP) but I had no idea how many other people might have encyclopedic knowledge of the periodic table.

Thanks for a fun TD Morbeedo!

Woo! Top 30!

Thanks for a fun TD, and congrats to mcsheffrey!

I'm curious about one of my potential answers for question 11: would livermorium have been accepted? I just looked it up, and it seems to be named after a place that's named after a person, so it's not direct, but it's still a person's name. (Also, I've now memorized the atomic number of roentgenium, in case it ever comes up again.)

Congrats, Grant! We occasionally hover around the middle of the pack together (and I finished in the middle third again, forsooth).

You give me hope!
