Bamaman wrote: Sat Apr 08, 2017 12:25 am The second game from Thursday was fun to watch. They got the first question right and then proceeded to get every other one wrong and ended with $23 going into the split. It started with 14/7/2 and ended with 11/5/2 after they agreed on the split.

The sad thing was, there really weren't any moments where I thought they were stupid, they just picked the wrong answer.
I watched it before bedtime last night, was going to post when I did the Friday J! game this afternoon and forgot until seeing your post. At least they got something.

Both games were 4-players ones, so I wonder if the 3-player one from last week was a early one before changing the format.

A gem from yesterday...

Which two of these have won a Nobel Prize?

A. Eleanor Roosevelt
B. Al Gore
C. Toni Morrison

Had I been on the show...

I would have hit
Spoiler
B and C and then the takeover button before anybody can even catch their breath. I had no idea if Morrison had won one, but I know for a fact no First Lady has won.
But this is Divided, so it gets complicated. They all knew Gore had won. One person had never heard of Morrison and another was fairly sure Roosevelt had won the Peace Prize. A woman who said she had done a book report on Roosevelt in fourth grade and thought she had won. So they went with Roosevelt and Gore and quickly regretted it.

After they locked it in the dude on the right groaned as he realized they forgot Alaska. It was funnier when the host revealed they had also forgotten Hawaii.

Credit to the team though for working through errors to leave with 13K+ divided among themselves after voting the woman on the right out and hitting the last Q for decent bank.

I'm guessing you haven't had to update any player pages on the archive yet from watching this show.

Ha! That's funny. I'm sure this new show will be the go-to place for former J! players, right?

Dear God, make it stop. Just seeing the host almost made me click off before they explained the show.

I liked seeing the older lady on the first episode, too bad she got both her takeovers wrong. I thought the guy who took home the biggest share played the game right. He jumped in quickly with an answer, even though everyone probably agreed to begin with.

Good job by the second team rebounding and earning a decent check. They probably voted the right person off as she'd have probably been too argumentative in the slit and cost them more money. I'd have used a takeover on France/Germany. I can't believe more people would try to resolve the dispute on the plane than stay out. I'd have listed butt out first, then take a video and try to resolve it last.

it's baaaaack!

The first show (aring August 15) was well-played with the contestants agreeing right away on the split. Even the 10% came away with over $3K. The second show was ruined by a jackhole who wanted the top or nothing. :x Nothing's what he got.

Yes, that was a nice premiere with such a large pot divided quickly and I figured that will be the best show of season after I saw it. The second episode was a polar opposite with that guy holding firm on the A spilt. He said he gets the most or nothing and he meant it. I still like watching it for these kind of knowledge questions:

Which of these video game consoles were released by Nintendo?
GameCube
Wii
Switch

Put these justices in the order they joined the Supreme Court from earliest to most recent:
Sotomayor
Kagan
Ginsburg

If Earth was hollow, which of these planets could fit inside it?

I answered BCA on the last one as well, that's wrong? I figured 18 has been the age for a very long time. And didn't African Americans get the right to vote with emancipation? (Doesn't mean people *let* them vote, but they got the right then, right?). And then women in 1920? Where am I wrong?

Did I at least get the other two correct?

Yes spell CAB for the correct order on the voting rights.

One question in Game 2 was to put in order earliest to latest the A-Bomb, K-Cups, and i-Pad.
Spoiler
The contestants went AiK, but it was AKi

That one I didn't know. I thought K-cups were a recent thing after the I-Pad.

My parents were both born in the 1940's and they could not vote until they were 21. For most Americans, I would hope this would be a softball question, but since you're a Canadian I shall refrain from mocking you. :-)

Sometimes you just need to watch for the pure schadenfreude. Got my weekly dose with this one:

Which two presidents owned slaves?
A. The 1st President
B. The 2nd President
C. The 3rd President
Spoiler
They correctly got Washington & Jefferson, but wrongly thought Jefferson was the 2nd President

I had seen that DBear had made a post before watching the game (did not open the thread though) and when I got to the slave question I just knew that was going to be the origin of the post. It was hilarious, but this part of the same game was better:
Spoiler

Image

Their final bank started at $3,246 (A = $1,1948 & B = $974 & C = $325)

This was a special edition with all of the contestants poker players. I guess they better stick to cards rather than trivia.

Image

Samantha had B and knew it was B, but allowed the other three to sway the team wrong.

At the final divide :
Spoiler
They let the clock run out and all left with nothing as the player who was deserving of the C amount stuck by A and would not budge.

I watched a game earlier where they went into the divide the money round with only $250. But they didn’t get that because they couldn’t come to an agreement. One guy said he deserved the big share because the other two had used the takeover and gotten it wrong. (Which I agreed with).
