I saw the retirement/skipping over Charles thing announced on the front page of several supermarket celeb magazines, so apparently they were taken in too. At least nobody announced that Batboy was the new heir apparent.dhkendall wrote: ↑Thu Aug 10, 2017 7:31 pmAs has (the somewhat more reliable than gossipcop.com) Snopes (see the second half of the article)hbomb1947 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 10, 2017 1:03 pmOn the other hand, this site appears to have debunked the story:boson wrote: ↑Thu Aug 10, 2017 12:58 pmDo you have an official source? The skipping over Charles thing seems to pop up from time to time. Assuming he outlives his mother, I believe he will be the next king.

Okay...I think the UK royal line of succession has been firmly established...it wasn't even something that happened!
In other news, Steve Bannon is out as "chief strategist" and the cast of Comedy Central's The President Show gets shuffled yet again. (Mario Cantone was an awesome Scaramucci)

That first song was a cover of "I'm Too Sexy" and a Kanye diss track to boot. Ugh.

And speaking of the White House, Trump has pardoned (Former) Sheriff Joe (Arpaio) of Maricopa County
Sheriff Joe is also the only reason I know of Maricopa County (Phoenix) in the first place...

that is not a cover song, a cover song is a remake. Not sure what this would be called, as it doesn't seem like sampling either, but definitely not a cover song.arjavrawal wrote: ↑Fri Aug 25, 2017 9:27 pmThat first song was a cover of "I'm Too Sexy" and a Kanye diss track to boot. Ugh.

My son considered going to college there and went out for a visit. A few days in Phoenix in June convinced him it wasn't a place he wanted to spend the next four years of his life.arjavrawal wrote: ↑Sat Aug 26, 2017 6:07 pmMaricopa is also one of the hottest places in the country I believe.

Surprisingly absolutely no one who thought logically about the thing, Floyd Mayweather Jr beats Conor McGregor with a TKO in the 10th. Mayweather now has a 50-0 record, passing Rocky Marciano's 49-0.

My dad's brother recently visited the US with his family for the first time ever. Part of their trip was a visit to the good ol' Grand Canyon. As we were descending onto the runway at Sky Harbor my cousin began complaining about how it was getting hotter and hotter.Bamaman wrote: ↑Sun Aug 27, 2017 1:46 pmMy son considered going to college there and went out for a visit. Luckily for Pythagoras, there's no new name we can say discovered "a^2+b^2=c^2" so math books are safe...*dramatic sting*...for now.Australian scientists have managed to crack the code of a mysterious 3,700-year-old Babylonian clay tablet, revealing a level of mathematical sophistication that pre-dates the ancient Greeks by a whopping 1,500 years.
This Babylonian tablet, known as Plimpton 322, is the world’s oldest—and most accurate—trigonometric table...

Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee's "Despacito," (featuring Justin Bieber) will mark its 16th week at Number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 on the chart released tomorrow (I think), tying the record set by Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men's "One Sweet Day" in 1995-6. However, it will most likely be knocked from the Number 1 spot next week by Taylor Swift's new single, "Look What You Made Me Do", depriving it of a record-breaking 17th week at the top spot.
Every time I click back to Billboard.com, it plays a little snippet of Despacito, which until today I had head exactly none of.

Re: 2017 Current Events Study Guide
Interesting story: At the global leadership conference I was at this summer, every night we had a thing called "scholar networking" basically where we all gathered in the dining hall/ballroom to use the hotel wifi and just do stuff. They played music, and EVERY NIGHT we were greeted to Despacito on repeat, with all 350 of us singing along. Fun times.MinnesotaMyron wrote: ↑Tue Aug 29, 2017 12:34 amEvery time I click back to Billboard.com, it plays a little snippet of Despacito, which until today I had head exactly none of.
