Let me just say that Americana is my Achilles heel on Jeopardy! and I really don't know how to improve in this area - by reading USA Today??

White Settlement is in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex (barely). I wouldn't expect anyone outside DFW to have heard of it, unless they ran across the name at some point and were intrigued by it.

That is exactly how I know it, and the only place I've been in the Metroplex is DFW airport.

Bowling Green, Kentucky, is the subject of a catchy Everly Brothers song (their last Top 40 hit of the 1960s).

My results are identical to the majority, except I seem to be one of the few that's NHO Silver Spring, but got to MD from Greenbelt. And of course this NYer has heard of Red Hook.

I only got the $200 right but i'm still checking off "never heard of any" too, because it was such a shot in the dark.

I live near Yellow Springs, OH, which at least at one time had some level of fame as a hippie town, but I don't think it has the level of national fame it once did as a way to differentiate between the two major Bowling Greens.

Got all but Arkansas, knowing neither of its two towns. "Knew" both New York places (that is, White Plains and Red Hook, Brooklyn), and knew just the better-known in the other three cases.

I realized there were a number of Bowling Greens, including the park in lower Manhattan, but had a feeling Kentucky's was the most famous.

I knew White Plains and Bowling Green.

There is a commercial that always ends with "White Plains, New York". I can't find the commercial but I think it's for Heineken. I also worked with some people that had their headquarters in White Plains.

For Bowling Green it's a famous city because it's home to a large university (Jeopardy! canon) and also because of the "Bowling Green Massacre" that was mocked earlier this year.

I'm super confused as to how Silver Springs, Maryland is at 84%. I don't recognize it and I can't figure out why it's so well known. It's one of the biggest cities in Maryland so I'll remember it now but I feel like something is just going over my head here.
I had a dream that I was asleep and then I woke up and Jeopardy! was on.

As I previously mentioned, for me it was hearing the city all the time for the home place of game show contestants. Tomorrow's J! game will give the place another notch.

I've been asking the same thing: how did anyone know Silver Spring?

Bowling Green trips me up because there's one in KY and one in OH, both are about the same size, and both have a college.

For me it was a compulsive fascination with highway maps as a kid. (And, occasionally, with Google Maps / Google Earth as an adult. )

They were my first concert (when I was 13), so that's why I got it.

But Western Kentucky University (Go Hilltoppers!) is.

Which turns out to be a larger university that BGSU. I didn't realize WKU was there. Good piece of trivia to know!
