Re: TD 358 - Random Trivia - Scores through Q5 and bonus
In my defense, I never made it all the way through To Kill a Mockingbird. Wait... never having read an American classic isn't much of a defense, is it. I should be ashamed of myself.
Teems with quiet fun.

10. E, I, O, U, AND SOMETIMES Y. BUT NOT A.
Identify a country whose name in English begins with E, I, O, U, or Y. Bonus of -1 point if you name the capital of the same country you pick. No penalty for a wrong guess on the bonus.
In retrospect, I should have pinned this one a little better, but I decided that If a country's English name in common use or the translation of its official name started with any of those letters, the answer should be accepted. That's why Ivory Coast, officially Republique de Cote D'Ivoire since 1986 but still often referred to as Ivory Coast; El Salvador (its name on English-language maps, not The Saviour); and United Mexican States (official name Estados Unidos de Mexicanos) were correct.
Only a few countries were not selected, and most of you got the bonus by naming the capital (noted with a B next to name, with -1 taken off final score).

Re: TD 358 - Random Trivia - Final Scores
Aaaaaargh... I specifically chose not to use "stovepipe hat" because it was first in the list and seemed like the obvious choice. So of course it was a singleton. I think I should start going directly against all my strategy instincts.
Thanks for putting this together!

I will echo your thanks to Peachbox; it was a fun TD.zerobandwidth wrote: ↑Sat Nov 11, 2017 8:16 am Aaaaaargh... Thanks for putting this together!
I'll also wish you better luck with your strategy change than mine! When I go with my instincts, I usually finish in the bottom quartile. When I go AGAINST my instincts, however, I usually finish in the bottom quartile.
I guess that means my instincts are so bad I can neither follow them nor go directly against them. I suppose my next step is to determine which questions to answer instinctively, and which questions not. Maybe odds and evens. Or better yet, evens and odds. Yeesh.
I'm not the defending Jeopardy! champion. But I have played one on TV.

Yep, forgot to use the drop. Also named the wrong Dave on the SCTV question. I was thinking Thomas, but wrote Foley instead.
Hopefully I do better at my audition tomorrow!
