I put down curse word and after seeing the answer was card game, I wondered if I would get a BWA even though I was serious about my answer.

Today I saw 22% had curse word--did not expect that.
I was tempted to write "dad joke" but instead guessed Protestantism. <sigh>

My guess was "loan word", thinking that English borrowed "carnival" from the German. Uh, no.

I saw "naughty cardinal" in the question and put "liturgical porn", which I'm not sure what that would even be.

Whatever it is, it seems like it could become… 8-) …a bad habit.

Voting is open for Best BWA. I didn't bother voting since I didn't find any of them to be remotely funny.

The late offering of Purple Drank was mildly amusing.

I'll confess to having not understood that one at all.

It helps to be Memphis adjacent.

I'd like to thank Oscar winners Three 6 Mafia for knowledging me about the sizzurp, AKA Purple Drank.

Numberwang made me think of our dear TPH. Besides that and Beyonc-eh, I didn't think there was much to choose from in the voting.

I think adding a crowd-sourced voting to best wrong answer attempts would be fun. I laughed at none of these this time (though some previous ones selected by Thorsten were funny to me). Abstain.

Way back on MD3, I kinda liked my response as a BWA candidate:

Q4. AMER HIST - When the resolution that eventually became the U.S. Constitution's 19th Amendment (prohibiting citizens from being denied voting rights on the basis of sex) was brought before the House of Representatives in 1919, there was only one woman in Congress able to vote on it. Name that Republican from Montana, who was the first woman to hold federal office in the United States. (She voted Yes to the resolution.)

Representative Hannah from Montana

No, the choices were terrible. It seems like the BWA entries tend to be some riff on an internet meme. Where's the creativity in that?

Like TPH can't find the humor in Seinfeld (which is one of my all-time favorite shows), I don't get why "numberwang" is funny.

It also seems there are a lot of inside jokes in relation to BWAs. The second place vote receiver, 2 Panama 2 Papers, is a reference to 2 Fast 2 Furious, which seems to have a lore of its own on the website.

My only attempt at a BWA was Season 74 Match Day 9 with the question
  • What thing severed Dr. Robert "Rocket" Romano's arm in a season 9 episode of the medical drama ER? Another one crushed him to death a season later, remarkably.
My response of "A bear that looked like Sarah Palin" was not chosen but "Crushing student debt fidget spinner" was. Since then I have given nothing but serious answers.

I don't think Thorsten is going through all the answers to find the good ones. He has an algorithm to check answers as correct/incorrect or flags them if they have a partial response and need to be checked. In order to find best wrong answers he is probably checking through specific accounts of people he is familiar with.
I had a dream that I was asleep and then I woke up and Jeopardy! was on.
