Wow, last place! In the first 5 questions I had 3 sheeps and 2 answers that were 2 points off the sheep.

H. Jon Bon Jovi
jbeltz

WRONG ANSWER - 10
gamawire (Bon Jovi - song credited to Jon as solo artist, not to the group)
Yikes! I might have given credit for this answer, if only for the "Last name" rule.
I agree that gamawire shouldn't be penalized here. Of course, I may have given the same answer as part of my bonus question so I may be a bit biased.
Here was my thought process - I was originally giving credit under the "last name" rule, but then there were some people who chose this question for their bonus and had first/last name for all other artists besides Bon Jovi (which led me to think that they meant the group - and one person sent me a clarification to admit they meant the group) so I treated those as incorrect. However, upon further review I will say that my poor pinning meant that just last name should be accepted and will reverse this error as well as adjust the affected bonus answers as well. I want this to be fun and not create controversy and so apologize for not thinking this through better before revealing results.

Truthfully, I did debate about whether it was him or them, and I believed the response of Bon Jovi should cover either possibility. Thanks for being lenient.

My error (again) - I intended to lump those together by specifying "current" country, but obviously failed to do so and will correct the scores.

Yeah, I dithered over whether West Germany would be considered a different country and decided to play it safe by putting Germany, since that's how the country is known today.

Side note: FIFA treats Cold War-era West Germany and post re-unification Germany as the same entity. In their records, it doesn’t say West Germany has won three World Cups and Germany has one; they say Germany has won four World Cups. It wouldn’t be consistent in that context to rule West Germany as a separate response from Germany for that question.

Thanks for researching that for me - now I am making a final decision to go back to what I had originally and combining the two under "Germany".

From the FIFA website - it has FRG on 1974.

I'm not worried about it though, because in the grand scheme of things the results of this TD don't mean much, and it's not as if I'm in position to win anyway.

The 1974 tournament’s official name for historical purposes is the 1974 FIFA WORLD CUP GERMANY™️, and the event recap in FIFA archives goes out of its way to refer to the host nation as Germany, without the West distinction. Obviously, it’s a retroactive consideration, but it demonstrates FIFA’s assertion that West Germany and post-1990 Germany are one and the same.
