A couple of years ago I'd have had no chance on Shawn Mendes (or the earlier Taylor Swift question this season) but having 2 daughters in the tween age group who only want to listen to Hits1 on sirius who posts artist name/song titles....well that makes questions like that a lot easier. I read yesterdays question to my 9 yo and by the time I had 19 yo from Ontario out of my mouth she blurted out Shawn Mendes!

Pop music hasn't been my strongest category historically, so having "Sean Mendes" in my fantasy football league has been more than helpful in terms of pop culture trivia.

I'd like to thank Georgette Heyer for helping me get a 9(6) yesterday against reddpen. I'm currently rereading one of her best novels, Frederica, in which Frederica and the hero rescue her mongrel dog from a dire scrape when the hero declares it to be a rare Baluchistan hound.

Woof wrote: Thu Dec 14, 2017 8:58 am Oof! Welp, yesterday the whole edifice came crashing to the ground. Too many Kosman Koins, almost Rosencrantz and Guildenstern-esque. Pakistan/Afghanistan, Ford/Coolidge, Invasion of the Body Snatchers/The Day the Earth Stood Still. Argh. Thank goodness for Shawn Mendes, an answer that I had absolutely no shot at
I hope the Ford you went for over Coolidge was Henry, because no way is Gerald writing an autobiography in 1929 (at age 16)!

I'm having what may end up being my best season ever, but barring a five-game losing streak (preferably including a forfeit or two) to end the season for WehrmanM, I can't finish better than second place. (WehrmanM has missed 14 questions all season, and has a rundle-low CAA of 76; next lowest is 81, and I have 90 correct answers against me.)

Is there a stat for 3 pointers given up? Because I think outside of A rundlers (who always get 6 questions right), I think I might be giving up the most of those.

For the first time in LL75, I skunked and lost 0(0)-3(3); the closest I came to a correct answer was the mountain question, to which my response was NAMED AFTER PEOPLE but that obviously wasn't specific enough. This was the first match since LL74 Day 8 that I did not get at least one correct...which, for me, is a long run.

Despite the cold hard truth of relegation staring at me, I beat Buzzy in my private rundle, so I'm a happy camper today.

Even though I won my match yesterday I'm disappointed because my opponent missed my zero point defensive question which was the one about the Presidential Range. I would have thought that even if the range wasn't well known most people could suss it out by extrapolating off of Mt. Washington.

I'm now in second place in the Sandra standings.

(MD21) :( :( :( :( 1(2)-1(1) T 10-8-3 (10th/22)

Joining the trend of "bringing out the best in others", I faced another opponent who defended me perfectly, and I feel like I escaped with a tie. With 22 players I'm now facing the opponents against whom I went 4-0 at the start of the season, but one of those is now ahead of me in the standings and a very good player.

The top two players in R Summit Div 2 have all but clinched spots in the B transfer, both being four wins up on third place with four MDs to go. They are serious business.

Thanks and same to you. I've been in 1st most of the season so I feel like it's my rightful position. :)

That assumes people know one of them is named Mt. Washington (which is not in the question).
Not many people can say they've lost four times on Jeopardy!.

I dropped from .862 to .807 in DE, and from #2 to #8 in Laguna's Sandra standings, by giving up an 8(4). The highest I could get my DE back up to now is .854, and that would require all four of my remaining opponents to score 2(3).

I haven't written anything lately out of superstition, but I just had a 4-0-1 streak end yesterday. Despite this, I am still only two points ahead of relegation in my C League rundle. I think that the secret to my recent success is that I've finally gotten the feel of playing defense again.
I used to be AWSOP but wanted to be more theatrical.

I know next to nothing about computer games, but put World of Warcraft.

Then I flipped the Kosman Koin and changed my answer to Magic: The Gathering.

Congrats to Woof on the win!

If I do the math correctly, I need a win or tie to stay in A Midland.

I was lucky yesterday with a 7(5)-6(5) victory. My opponent defended Warcraft with a 3 instead of Gimme Shelter. (I'm guessing that they researched me a bit a figured that a middle-aged professor of Mennonite history would be unlikely to have purchased every single one of those expansions.)

For the Alliance!

If nothing else, we seem to have a number of defensive specialists posting here! I gave up my first two points in a while to ElendilPickle, lowering my DE from .873 to .842, still good enough for #1 in the Sandra standings, but bringing me closer to FuchsJ.

I was kicking myself after the reveal. I know virtually everything else about the incident, including the movie title, except what Thorsten gave us, the name of the victim. FFS, a HS friend of mine was even there at the show (with his younger brother and his mom -- I bet that was fun). That kind of made up for my WAGs of Pearl S. Buck and the Presidents Range, though.

So I'm in a weird spot right now. I was in Central/MurderDeathKill for many seasons and bouncing between C and D, and after winning D one season, getting transferred to Summit, and winning C Summit my first time, I'm now in the promotion zone (2nd in B Summit) and threatening to win my rundle three seasons in a row. And there's an exciting finish planned -- MD23 and MD 24 are against players in 1st and 4th. Guess I'd better be sure to drink my Ovaltine.

Any idea if this has happened before (legitimately)? I know that ElendilPickle had 3 straight promotions from D to A after her rookie season.

What kind of luck do I have this season? Virtually the same statistics as Cyndi (except her opponents stink when they play her), yet she is in first and I'm the cutoff before relegation (for now):
