I'm pretty sure I'm 2/2 on Dos Equis. Like, 98% sure.

I did not -actively- recall the LLq regarding Island Records, though that's probably where I learned it from. Nevertheless, no checkbox.

Five gymnastics gold medals? Name isn't obviously English or Chinese? Top row? Russia.
The best thing that Neil Armstrong ever did, was to let us all imagine we were him.

Had to look up the other Dos Equis clue, which I did get. So I'm two for two.

For anyone else wondering, the other Dos Equis FJ was in this game. I don't remember whether I got it. Probably not.

In recent times I only knew the Chinese city as Guangzhou, I could have gotten Canton at a different time, same goes with Shirley Jackson.
Monday FJ: Got American Gothic just by looking at 1930 painting.
Tuesday FJ: Assumed the volcano was mount Siribachi, and got Iwo Jima right.
Wednesday FJ: Immediately knew Wilhemina, Julianna, and Beatrix and got Netherlands right.
Thursday FJ: No clue. Said Goldfish knowing it was wrong.
Friday FJ: No clue. Assumed the clue was pound sterling and said Parlaphone.

Clammed on all the extra questions.
2/2 on Dos Equis.
Monday and Friday were all in categories for me.
Guessed Midway for Tuesday.
The Netherlands was an educated guess.
Read an article Goldsmith wrote about landing the role.
Not a member of Learned League (anyone want to give me a referral for Christmas?)
Clammed on the Russian gymnast question but should have got it based on my familiarity with the work of Russian constructivist artist El Lissitsky.
I would prefer not to.

I might have guessed Iwo Jima on Tuesday, but I hadn't really settled on anything. Sometimes I give myself the benefit of the doubt, but I don't think my thought process at the time merits that.
On Thursday I got stuck thinking about manly men more than worldy, manly men, so I went with Brawny after some consideration of Mr. Clean.

I got Dos Equis (the FJ response, not the beer) earlier this year, guessed USSR, and had no clue on Shirley Jackson. I got Calvert just in time; I knew Baltimore wasn't the answer but really had to struggle to get away from it.

Kingston to say something. Am not in LL. Ended a correct FJ streak at 11.
Got the other Dos Equis clue.
No guess on Lisitsky's country.
Oh, what has science wrought? I sought only to turn a man into a metal-encased juggernaut of destruction powered by the unknown properties of a mysterious living crystal. How could this have all gone wrong?

I'm a fan of both U2 and Bob Marley so that question was easy for me both in LL and on Jeopardy! Bob Marley's Jamaican label is Tuff Gong, by the way, which was one of Bob's nicknames.

On Thursday, I thought of Dos Equis and immediately knew it was right. Unfortunately, that was about a half hour after seeing the clue. My immediate reaction was Marlboro man, but come to think, he was mainly a print ad figure, at least in my memory. I guess "I don't always drink beer" is an acknowledgment of Hemingway's eclectic tastes (there is a book out there called "To Have and Have Another: A Hemingway Cocktail Companion"). I did get the previous Dos Equis FJ, but if I'd remembered at the time I might have thought it was too soon to come up again (but probably not, I have learned better).

I didn't watch, but I guess that if I saw "Viktor Lisitsky" in the $200 box, I'd have said Russia. Since it comes up as a question here, I'm guessing the answer was not Russia. Poland, then? I'm guessing it's a country that has never won gymnastic gold, so that would rule out Ukraine.

I answered "Canton" in a Transatlantic quiz question a couple of years ago and was not given credited (they wanted Guangzhou). I'm still bitter. Btw, if there is anyone out there who could forward me the 2017 quiz, I would be very grateful.

ETA-- Ok, I see Russia was right after all. Wondering now what was interesting about the clue.

I'm in the SoCal area and the Dos Equis commercials are everywhere. I'm probably exposed to the ads 5 times a day. Commercials, billboards, radio spots, etc... The Gorton's fisherman is not present at all unless I go to the frozen section of a grocery store.

How much of a disparity is there in other advertising markets? From where I'm sitting the clue isn't negbait at all but if you're in a market where they show Gorton's as much as Dos Equis it would be a lot harder.
I had a dream that I was asleep and then I woke up and Jeopardy! was on.
