I was also a $20.64 winner in my first try at Cash Show. Good thing I had an extra life, since I can't imagine how using a smaller font size wouldn't result in less ink usage.

Re: HQ Trivia
Likewise. It was a poorly written question (or at least poorly written choices). I knew of this story, but it seemed idiotic not to say that using smaller print would use less ink.plasticene wrote: ↑Fri Jan 26, 2018 7:34 pm I was also a $20.64 winner in my first try at Cash Show. Re: HQ Trivia
Whoops!
By the way, Scott wasn't hosting tonight. Sarah Pribis did the honors. [Thanks to seaborgium or the corrected spelling]
Scott returned for Saturday night's game, and I got an early exit because I did not know what "monotreme" meant. I wouldn't have gotten much further in any event, since I didn't know the video game question either.

Re: HQ Trivia
Guys. The novelty of this trivia app thing is wearing off, and skepticism is setting in. What kind of garment-rending anguish is in store down the line? As a red-blooded American, I'm highly susceptible to greed, self-satisfaction, and hype. These games feed all of that. Did I just hand Kim Jong Un the tools to hack my phone and access my personal finances? Oh, gotta go. . . The game is starting.

Re: HQ Trivia
Been playing CashShow (gesundheit) for the last few days.
While HQ feels like You Don't Know Jack at its best, this one seems to be replicating both the atmosphere and the dehumanization of a casino. It also seems a lot more obviously desperate for its users to share their personal information -- link your Facebook account! invite your friends! -- and their host seems to share that desperation.
I will say that they solved the lag problem by pre-recording everything, which I appreciate, but their question quality is iffy.

I'm also playing CashShow now, but I'm slightly leery of it because of the questionable English in their push notifications.

Aiieeeeeee!!!! I never noticed this, but I have been hesitant to cash out and give my Paypal info. Who or what is funding the prizes? Ransomware? If a super-specific nuclear physics question ever pops up, DON'T ANSWER!seaborgium wrote: ↑Sat Jan 27, 2018 10:10 pm I'm also playing CashShow now, but I'm slightly leery of it because of the questionable English in their push notifications.

For what it's worth, I've just looked through the Terms of Use, and came across this: "These terms of use shall be governed by Hong Kong Laws. Any disputes, will be referred to and finally resolved by arbitration administered by the Hong Kong International Arbitration Center (HKAIC) subject to the arbitration rules of the HKAIC in effect at the time of the artbitration, and the place of arbitration shall be in Hong Kong." (And yes, the typo in the penultimate "arbitration" is theirs.)squarekara wrote: ↑Sun Jan 28, 2018 2:44 pmAiieeeeeee!!!! Hmmmm. . . slightly reassured. . . ? At least it's not a network news expose about suckers like me who don't bother to read the fine print before they get tangled up in some racket! Thanks for the info.

Re: HQ Trivia
Played my first round of Cash Show, and while I agree with those who find the lack of some polish off putting, I appreciate a couple things it does that HQ Trivia doesn't. It actually gave me money for knowing grade school stuff like the capital of Texas, for one. (Something I suspect will change if the game gains in popularity, though.) And while the host is uninspiring, at least his intro and in between questions shtick is mercifully less than HQ Trivia's blather.

Re: HQ Trivia
Okay, I'm sure I'm not the only one fuming about CashShow this afternoon. They asked for the first African-American woman to win the Best Actress Oscar and gave options of Hattie McDaniel and Halle Berry. Of course, since Hattie won for Supporting Actress, we chose Halle. That was wrong, according to them. Later on, in their post-reveal "educational" blather about ketchup, they implied that the Aztec language originated in Peru. It ain't fittin'. Just ain't fittin'. It ain't fittin'.

Re: HQ Trivia
Did the Queen Elizabeth question put "II" at the end of her name? I didn't notice a problem with the question and got it right (then got out on the Halle Berry fiasco), but I saw someone in the chat complaining that the choices of George VI and Henry VIII were fathers of a Queen Elizabeth. Of course, this could just be a case of someone in the unwashed masses failing to RTFQ.

Re: HQ Trivia
No, it just read "Queen Elizabeth." My husband and I noted that and joked about it. I don't believe Henry VIII (or any Henry, for that matter) was a response option. I sent a complaint e-mail about the Hattie/Halle thing, by the way. Congrats on our one cent win.seaborgium wrote: ↑Mon Jan 29, 2018 4:02 pm Did the Queen Elizabeth question put "II" at the end of her name? Re: HQ Trivia
Henry VIII was not a choice. It was Edward VIII.seaborgium wrote: ↑Mon Jan 29, 2018 4:02 pm Did the Queen Elizabeth question put "II" at the end of her name? I was cursing at this one. It cost me 47 cents!!Okay, I'm sure I'm not the only one fuming about CashShow this afternoon. Re: HQ Trivia
I also went out on the Hattie/Halle question and was lightly steamed. There was a question during the 8:00 est game along the lines of "what was Frankenstein's first name" with answer options of Henry, William, and Nothing, and the correct answer being Nothing. At least Victor wasn't an option.
I would prefer not to.

Has anyone been able to cash out from Cash Show? I've been trying to transfer $26 to my PayPal account and it has been "in review" for 2 days.

Re: HQ Trivia
Please update here as your transaction progresses. I'm still too suspicious to cash out. The host repeats the term "cold, hard cash," and I see "cold, hard cash" pop up in the comment scroll. Is this a conditioning tactic?

Re: HQ Trivia
Oddly enough, I rushed and clicked on Hattie, then began cursing when I realized my "mistake". I almost backed out of the app to go do something else and was shocked to see I got it "right".squarekara wrote: ↑Mon Jan 29, 2018 3:55 pm Okay, I'm sure I'm not the only one fuming about CashShow this afternoon.
