Metamorphoses (which I knew was Ovid, but I managed to convince myself was worth a try), Georgia Tech
Have not read nor seen The Right Stuff and had to convince myself it was the right title.
* I said "bigmouth bass," which Wikipedia lists as a regional variant name, so I'm giving myself credit.
Oh, what has science wrought? I sought only to turn a man into a metal-encased juggernaut of destruction powered by the unknown properties of a mysterious living crystal. How could this have all gone wrong?

Couldn’t come up with a reasonable guess on Tuesday.
Have lived most of my life within 30 miles of NYC and been to many Mets games, so Wednesday an instaget.
Initially flummoxed on Friday, but then made the flight/spaceflight connection to a non fiction book and came up with the answer. Not sure I would have gotten it under podium pressure.
Have read The Right Stuff and seen the movie several times (one of my favorites)

blue, white, orange--easy peasy. 8-)

Monday: CBS
Tuesday: The Republic
Thursday: Baylor
Friday: A Clockwork Orange

Philip Jose Farmer does sound familiar. Might have known that one at one time.

I don't know where I pulled Apology or Rappahannock from - wish I'd pulled all 3 Mets colors from the same place...
I could identify Farmer as sci-fi but that's about it.

I'm 62/100 in regular games this season. In LL75, I went 93-150, also 62%, so I would say there's a strong correlation between FJ and LL percentages....
Hoping for a third lap

Played the FJ's from here, and if I was a bit deliberate on a couple, I will invoke Parkinson's Law.

I read the Apology in school. As others have commented, "apology" then did not mean "I'm sorry". On the other hand, neither does it today.

Had I missed the NYC question, I'd have had to turn in my non-driver's license.

:(

Said Rapidan for the river. Its name apparently is from the English for "Rapid Anne". Who'd have guessed?

I was actually spoiled on Riverworld, but am confident I'd have got it because I had at that point seen it extremely recently at Triviahalloffame.
I'm smart and I want respect.

Johns Hopkins on Thursday. Even if I'd remembered that the CDC HQ is in Atlanta (from various board games and works of fiction), I never knew that Emory has a famous medical school... or what state it's in.

Johns Hopkins is a fine guess given that I didn't know where CDC was, but I should have known where CDC was. I'd like to think I could have pulled Emory with that info.

Instaget on the Apologia, although I've never read it - I know of it from my favorite Robert Heinlein novel, Have Space-Suit, Will Travel.
On the flag color question, the TOM for me went like this: obviously one of them had to be orange; I'm neither a baseball nor basketball fan, but figured blue and white were good team colors.
Knew that the CDC was in Atlanta, figured that U of Ga was too obvious but had no other guess ready.
The Right Stuff is one of my favorite books by one of my favorite authors, so instaget. I hate the movie though.

IMHO, The Right Stuff is an outstanding film and would certainly have been a far better choice for Best Picture in 1983 than the wretchedly insincere and manipulative Terms of Endearment.
