B. This singer/actress from Utah got her big break as a professional dancer on Dancing with the Stars.

D. I could have put this actress in Question 7 because of her Academy Award for La La Land.
E. He was on the “losing” end of The Money Fight against Floyd Mayweather in 2017, but earning $100 million for the fight doesn’t sound much like losing to me.
F. We watched him grow up before our eyes as Ron Weasley.
G. She is easily the biggest selling artist from Barbados.
H. Before breaking Green Bay Packers’ hearts (twice) as a QB for the Seahawks, he took his talents to Wisconsin for his final year of college.
I. Before becoming a “Supergirl,” this actress sang in the New Direction on Glee and dated an aspiring jazz drummer in Whiplash.
J. “Soon we’ll be thirty years old, our songs have been sold…” sings this man whose last name is not Graham.

Oh. Room has Brie Larson. The Room has Tommy Wiseau and I guess it has Mark. That's cool, I've heard about the pair of novels Invisible Man and The Invisible Man as the example of clues where the article makes a difference. This pair of movies makes another special case that's nice to know about.

TD 367 - 30 - Q8 and Q9 Results Posted

Post by badgerfellow »

Before I go into the results for Questions 8 and 9, I will say that these 2 questions were easily the most difficult for entrants. As the smith, I will tell you I struggled on whether these should be included for this Think Different or not. In the end, I kept them in as they worked well with the overall theme. One of many lessons learned.

Now to the results.

I loved the elements question and major props to the players that divined Se, Sr, and Ga! I previewed the TD but knew it would be a few days before I could fill it out. That meant avoiding Periodic Tables around the office or looking at analytical results in case of spoilers. I picked Kr as a safety pick and chickened out on using As or Se.

It was about the cheapest sheep, and therefore the cheapest wrong answer I've noticed in the few TD's I've been in.

Thanks for the TD, badgerfellow. These are fun and we don't have to listen to HQ Trivia flapdoodle to participate.

For added suspense, I'm splitting the Question 10 results and the results from the bonus. Fortunately, this question was a little better for entrants. One small correction on Item B to note below; fortunately, it didn't impact results.

10. Hello, Wisconsin! I think it would behoove me as “badgerfellow” to include one question on Wisconsin, which was before mentioned as the 30th State of the Union. Answer one of these questions, providing both the answer and the letter.

A. The phrase “Hello, Wisconsin!” can be heard at the end of the theme song for this retro TV show where Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis first met.
B. The name of this band, whose lead singer is from Eau Claire, is French for “good winter.” (Smith’s Note: The name of this band does not directly translate to “good winter.” Rather, it is derived from the French phrase for “Good winter.” Thanks to econgator for the heads up.)
C. Governor Gaylord Nelson, who served in that office between 1959 and 1963, founded this holiday celebrated every year on April 22.
D. The slogan for this beer was that it was “the beer that made Milwaukee famous.”
E. Before becoming guv-nah of a different state, he attended the University of Wisconsin-Superior…via correspondence courses.
F. This French Jesuit missionary represents Wisconsin in National Statuary Hall.
G. The other statue representing Wisconsin belongs to this man, who ran for US President in 1924 under the Progressive Party.
H. While there’s also a “West” version in Arizona, Frank Lloyd Wright also owned a house with this name in Spring Green.
I. This Netflix documentary features the Wisconsin justice system (and more specifically, Manitowoc County) in a not-so-positive light.
J. This sparkling water brand that is loved/hated by many originated in a city in Wisconsin with a similar sounding name.

Thanks for hosting! I know how much blood sweat and tears go into writing and scoring TDs

Would've finished in the Top 3 if I had gone with Modern Family over Transparent!! Them's the brakes

Incidentally, whatever happened to TD 368 Games?

Wow - wasn't expecting this! Thanks for hosting, and you are more than welcome to host another (of course, I may be prejudiced on that after my finish in this one!).
