I was able to tease out that it was probably near Normandy so I knew my answer of the Faroe Islands would almost certainly be wrong, but I had nothing else.
Re: Thursday, March 1, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]
Ran the Food Franchises category, got all but coconut in the Mail category ("Meat" jammed my brain) and all but Pixies in Band.
14 Letter Words was tough. I had none of those.
Lach trash: mucus membrane
No guess on FJ! Didn't know where to even begin. Also so stunned by the first ever tiebreaker that I didn't even process that clue, either. Still stunned it took this long for one to finally happen.

Black Francis wasn't kidding in his quote. Their recent album, Indie Cindy, is terrible. No Kim, no Deal.

THEY'RE REAL!!! TIEBREAKERS REALLY EXIST!!!
...and now that I've seen one, it kinda sucked, and I wish they'd go back to co-champs
That Erin Moran clue confused the hell out of me: "nose-twitching....but there wasn't a daughter named....oooohhhhhh". Thankfully that moment of pause caused me to stay clam and grab the rebound. Brutal inadvertant negbait there; you will take those categories top to bottom, or else
FJ took a bit but 'Norman' made me think of France, and France + UK = Channel Isles. They're not part of the UK? OK, noted for future reference.
Guess I have to change my sig now.

The scores after DJ! did not seem conducive to a tie. Thought for sure the first tie would come from more tie-friendly scores. Can someone explain the rationale behind $4801, because I'm not getting it. It seems pretty random, as far as I can tell.

I can't see any reason to bet more (or less).BigDaddyMatty wrote: ↑Thu Mar 01, 2018 2:27 pm It seems to me that Sarah's optimal wager is anywhere in the $3401-3599 range. Anyone see it differently?

Easy: Sarah wanted to bet as much as she could w/o falling behind Laura if they both missed FJ, and forgot all about falling behind Scott's doubled score, or not adding the extra dollar to her wager.

I missed tonight's FJ to make myself 0/4 so far this week but I got the tiebreaker clue. If I miss tomorrow's clue, it will be an interesting scenario when the weekly poll arrives.

Tiebreaker!
I like to think I'd have gotten some laughs from "guessing" Ireland for FJ.

FJ was an instaget for me... probably because I'm a history geek.
Was this the first time the tiebreaker's been used? Interesting to see.

Yep. She totally blew it on the strategy. No reason to go anywhere near Laura's MSBIW.econgator wrote: ↑Thu Mar 01, 2018 7:40 pmI can't see any reason to bet more (or less).BigDaddyMatty wrote: ↑Thu Mar 01, 2018 2:27 pm It seems to me that Sarah's optimal wager is anywhere in the $3401-3599 range. The look of complete shock on her (Sarah's) face when the tie score was revealed says a lot too.

I really wish they would have let Sarah keep the $6,799 but not return, seems like a shame that she ends up with $2,000. I see some people are defending her wager choice, but I can see no logic behind betting anything over $3,599, or under $3,400 for that matter.

Explanation about TB process would have been great.
1) What would happen if the first person to ring 'negs' - does that make the other player winner?
2) What if it is a stumper? Will there be no champ?
Didn't like the new TB procedure.

A correct response is required to win the game on a tiebreaker. According to the Archive, the first of the seven previous tiebreakers went to three clues, but only the third and deciding one was aired.doihavetoreally wrote: ↑Thu Mar 01, 2018 9:12 pm Explanation about TB process would have been great.

It seems to go against the Jeopardy! way for there to be no penalty for getting the tiebreaker wrong.
