I appear to have gotten 44/50, pretty much my usual. A couple I should have had and blanked, a couple no chance, and a couple I could have guessed right but didn't.

goongas wrote: Tue Mar 06, 2018 8:51 pm Is it distillation or fermentation? I think I might have gotten exactly 35 with distillation, I had a brain fart with Kelly Ann Conway. She was in the news today too...Also missed easy neuron and Arno (I have been there too...)
"boiling a liquid & then condensing the vapor" in the clue seems to point only to distillation.

Ditto. What's really frustrating is that there were several more I knew but just couldn't get out in time. Only a few i had no chance on whatsoever.

Thanks, Big Daddy!

One possible correction: "Our" in #26. Our/hour are homophones.

Also, the answer to #36 is "La Raza".

Isn't synapse the process and neuron the cell? I could be wrong. FTR I'm taking tomorrow's test.

Synapse is the gap between the neurons.

Seemed harder than usual, mainly because I started by missing 5 of 19 (and it felt a little worse) before 16 in a row put me back on track. A slow finish put me at 40. My last 7 or 8 tests have all been 39 to 42, so I guess that's what I end up with no matter what test.

In the context of having given her husband's first name, they should. Still, I put Barrett Browning.

What's the verdict on 'ours' instead of 'our'?

Argh...I thought I got 35, but that was when I thought Harrison was the right answer. Now I see I only scored 34. That is painfully disappointing.

26. Your

or 'Our'
I had to check back on the question to verify this, it says "homonym of a period of time". If it said "time period", then your/yore might be a perfectly cromulent response, but for "period of time" I think it needs to be our/hour. But who knows, they could be generous!

Ooh... the way I remember that question being phrased, I think either would be acceptable? But I may not remember it right.

Likely to be a BMS on the show, but I think the online test questions are scored somewhat generously.

I'm kicking myself for missing chalet given that there is a Chalet Street right down the street from my childhood home, and in a neighborhood with multiple Swiss-themed street names.

Doesn't technically match the clue as "a period of time" points to singular rather than plural but on the show they generally don't neg for a singular/plural disagreement unless the category is something like "4 letter words" or "ends with -ur", so you should be fine here.

I'd neg it for the exact reason you stated.
