37. Blah. I am already in the pool so wasn't actually taking it, but still a weak and irritating showing. I'm embarrassed to have been unable to pull Grafton or Kellyanne Conway, which I clearly knew, and had no hope of being able to get Wheel of Fortune Cookie typed in time after figuring it out with about 1 second left. Not sure how I couldn't come up with neuron either. I think I was making it way more complicated than it needed to be and somehow ended up at dendrite. Our/hour left me scratching my head in complete confusion, and I couldn't even come up with anything remotely plausible.

I agree with those who said it felt like a tough test, though I think my score was nearly as high as usual. After a slow start, I got 36 or 37 (depending on whether they accept "Elizabeth Browning").
Glad that their music focus was on a classic like Prince, rather than Cardi B or Lil Pump.

I can't imagine them not accepting that. I'm less sure about "Madonna". I agree it ought to be credited, but must they have anticipated it? Perhaps they go through a selection of completed tests by hand in order to see what acceptable but unexpected answers were given, and then tinker with their electronic scorer.
Glad for the assurance about neurons. Of course, they were at the forefront of my mind, and more and more so as the years go by.

Going by Jeff's answers in the first few comments, I got 38.
Not bad. WE'll see if this holds up on Thursday when I take it for realsies.

I did the same and it really messed with my rhythm. There are a couple that I didn't pull instantly that I think I would have come around to, but it's impossible for me to tell exactly what my score would have been. I felt it was more difficult than usual, though.doihavetoreally wrote: ↑Tue Mar 06, 2018 10:04 pm I played off youtube video posted by J! and it had repeated question on Sue Grafton. I'm surprised to see that it is not even in the test based on input here. Also, the clues went by very quickly (not the 8 seconds or whatever time on normal exam), so not a good idea to use as a practice test for next two days. Would have passed today's exam.

I can't see how they could get away with not accepting it. Mary = the Madonna = Mary, unless they think people would guess Ms. Ciccone is depicted in the Pietà.
I got 42 playing off YouTube. Went with synapses over neurons, FTD instead of Hallmark, and A-frame for chalet. Blanked on Arno, adverbs, our, la Raza, and rhea. Hope to do better taking it for real Thursday.
I would prefer not to.

Would Burma have been acceptable for 21? Would simply saying Giants instead of San Francisco Giants or SF Giants have been ok for 32? Lastly, would just Zelda have been fine for 50? Thanks.

43/50
The ones I missed were Treason Reason, John the Baptist, Zappos, Kellyanne Conway, La Raza, Class Action, and Arby's.
Had I watched this video BEFORE today's episode. The TV category wouldn't have been a goose egg for me.

41/50 off the Youtube video.
Not bad; I would be fine with such a performance on Thursday.

39/50 for me, one of my lowest scores. It was very tough - "Alice Walker" for "Toni Morrison", "Taylor" for "Tyler", "axons" for "neurons", "A frame" for "chalet", didn't know the blind tenor or the author, nor the Prince lyrics. I didn't see the word "shoe" in the question about Zappos until it was too late to change my answer (I put "eBay"). I can't remember which others I missed.

Thanks for the video, sherder.
45, but I didn't take it for realsies last night as I completely forgot. Now for the impossible game of which will be more difficult: central or pacific.
Misses (only for Jones and chalet did I not ponder the correct answer -- should've gotten chalet, as "The Swiss Chalet" is/was? a restaurant chain in the Buffalo area.)
synapses
Hope Hicks
FTD
Rogue
Lodge
Guessed Jobs. Score!

I'm sorry if I missed this upthread -- but for number 3 I believe the correct answer is cranial nerves.
This was one three answers I realized right as time was expiring. I end up at 37 if "ours" is OK and my mispellings of "al denti" and "Rontgen" are taken. I was surprised they would ask Wilhelm Röntgen -- a very valid question but harder than the science I'm used to seeing.

That's so similar to my experience that it's eerie.Lefty wrote: ↑Tue Mar 06, 2018 9:18 pm 42 if neurons is wrong, 43 if it isn't. I believe it was two years ago that I made a personal best of 49, but then last year I just just just scraped by. Anyway, I wasn't looking to set the world on fire, just to light a flame in a few hearts.
So, "neurons" on 3, NHO Zappos as far as I recall, did not know The Alchemist, am very good at forgetting Trump's people (and overall, I'm happy about it), said "fermentation" certain I was forgetting something (I did think of "zymurgy" but I think that's the same as fermentation), didn't remember Jessica Jones, though she sort of works the same area I do, blanked on Goosebumps (though I was totally ready for A Series of Unfortunate Events), and assumed "Labor Relations" was right until I came here.
My score is also 42 or 43 depending on whether neurons is right.
I've heard of Zappos, but couldn't pull it out of my brain. Blanked on The Alchemist, had no chance on Jessica Jones (guessed "Daredevil" knowing it to be wrong -- I know Daredevil is male but he's the only relevant character whose name I know) and I also assumed "Labor Relations" was right -- I didn't have time to really process the clue fully and just thought "Well, 'Labor Relations' obviously starts with L.R."
The others I missed: blanked on "chalet" (put "A-frame" while feeling I was missing something more obvious, "chalet" came to me a question or two later. I'm Canadian and "Swiss Chalet" is a common restaurant there) put "emu" instead of "rhea" (was pretty sure emus are Australian but wasn't sure which flightless bird is South American) and put "League of Legends" for the last one instead of "Legend of Zelda" (didn't know it, so randomly guessed a video game with "legend" in its name).

Inventor of the x-ray seems a pretty common thing to ask for, I would guess it would be around third row in most science categories, Didn’t seem out of place here in my opinion. Neurons seems in hindsight much harder as a science clue given we’re not even fully settled yet on what answer they wanted.

Blanked on Wheel of Fortune Cookie
Blanked on Rhea
Went Latino Rights instead of Labor Relations
Went Fermentation instead of Distillation
Now for that audition invitation...

I got 46/49 playing off the questions posted on the Jeopardy facebook page.
Same old problems with current events and pop culture as I missed 8, 19, & 27.
I said only out of 49 questions because on the facebook page instead of the video games q at 50, they just repeated the Y is for Yesterday clue.

Would have had 49. I knew exactly who they were talking about but I could not drag Andrea Boccelli's name out of my brain.
It seems to me if you paid attention to the show and play Learned League, that was good for at least 3 questions (Otis, Browning, Channel Islands) on this test based on questions within the last week or so.

Can someone explain #36 to me?
I said Labor Relations, is that correct?
This was not one of my better results. Oh well, wait until next time.
