Looks like i got 37 right, the first time i was able to get over the threshold, i am pretty pleased! I know its on the low side of the threshold so its not likely, but I will continue the studying and try to do better for the next test that comes around. There were a few I should have gotten, i put GMC instead of GM, and i was thinking Iran, but settled on Iraq instead.

From everything we know, a 37 is as likely to get an audition as a 47.

davey wrote: Thu Mar 08, 2018 11:51 am I'm surprised that "clam" isn't in the J-archive glossary, and of course jeff can speak for himself, but I assume he meant "clam" in a strict sense - not just to stay silent. When you have some idea of the correct response (or even when a WAG comes readily to mind), but decide you're not sure enough to risk the points. That's a classic clam, and something nobody should do on these tests.
I think we've expanded the definition of staying clam and modify it based on the ruleset in play.

If, during the online test, I have something come to mind, I'll put it down. On a question by question basis, yes, It's like an FJ or DD: blank's as good as a wrong. BUT if it's taking me more than 5 seconds to even think up a WAG, I leave it blank and psych up for the next clue. You -do- get penalized if your wrong answer spills into the next clue and you can't correct it in time.
The best thing that Neil Armstrong ever did, was to let us all imagine we were him.

I don't know about Daytime, but there were also a number of questions from the last two nights that overlapped with a few episodes from the first quarter of the season in the archive.

I think I came in with about 43.

Doh! I lived in Paris for a year and have been there at least 10 times, but I never made it to the top of the Eiffel Tower. Anyway, right bank is all you needed to get that one right.

I got 42 on this one, not that it matters. I got 42 or 43 for real on Tuesday. I had one wild guess that turned out to be right (Pringles). I missed Gershwin. I typed Gershwin, erased it, typed Berlin, erased that, and was in the process of typing Gershwin again when time ran out.

Thanks to sherder and Ontario Quizzer for posting the video and answers!

I got 46, same as last night.

Taking this for practice from the video, I would've scored several points higher than I did on the Eastern time zone test, which I took for real. That might be just the result of being more relaxed though.

I was mostly kidding about David clamming four times. Certainly it can happen that you don’t even have a guess to throw down in 15 seconds. In cases where you know the answer but are struggling to pull it it’s probably logical to use every ounce of brain power toward that purpose rather than devote a few neurons to typing Smith or Johnson or whatever.

Would have gotten 37/50 had I taken it, so I definitely consider it harder than the one on Tuesday.

Plus, this particular example was a practice test, I took the real one on Thursday, so my standards were a little more relaxed.

On Thursday, I was tempted to throw in a "lucky Johnson" a couple of times when i couldn't think of anyone, but I spent 12 seconds trying to think of the right answer that there was no way I could make a semblance of a name other than maybe "Joh" in 3 seconds.

Just realized that there are actually two Taliesins after watching a rerun episode.

Taliesin is in Wisconsin, WEST Taliesin is in Arizona. :o

42 on this one, got 44 on my real test Thursday night, which overall seemed a lot easier than this one. (I wonder if they curve the tests such that a 42 on this one would be better than a 44 on Thursday's.) Good luck everyone!

I took the test live on Tuesday. Not happy with that score.
I took the Wednesday test later on and I got a 40. Now I wish I had taken it live on Wednesday.

Just found out that Trocadero is a Paris Metro station as well.

It's a big world out there. So much to learn and explore.
