ichiro also transcends sports...jeopardy people are generally not that versed in sports and would think ichiro would be the only vivable answer for them...though i guess the jboard people do have a bit more sports knowledge than the average jeopardy contestant

Re: TD 374 - Cherry Blossom Festival (Q9-Q10 revealed)

Post by SenseiCAY »

9. JAPAN-US RELATIONS – celebrity name required. The title of this question was once a category on Saturday Night Live’s Celebrity Jeopardy sketch. Name any celebrity that has “appeared” as a contestant on SNL’s Celebrity Jeopardy sketch, hosted by Will Ferrell as Alex Trebek (actors appearing as themselves also count here; we are looking for the celebrities being parodied, and not the actors that played them, unless the actor is playing themselves).

As a bonus (use Q12), name as many possible answers to this question as you can (including your answer to Q9). You will receive a bonus of -1 point for every 3 correct answers (rounded down, regardless of how many wrong answers you put down). The player with the most correct answers without a miss will receive an additional bonus of -5 points. The player with the second most will receive an additional bonus of -3 points.

There were a lot of possibilities on this one. If you were marked wrong, feel free to appeal this one and show me where the celebrity was parodied - it's possible that I just didn't find the right episode(s).

Keep in mind that Maeda was in the most recent World Series with the Dodgers, as was Yu Darvish. Both will have a bit more name recognition because of that, particularly among those who don't follow baseball closely but might pay a little attention to the World Series games.

As a casual follower of both my local teams (Dodgers and Angels), I rolled the dice with the newcomer on the Angels (Ohtani) and it paid off.

I think that's what he was referring to - I definitely recognized that SXSW vs. ACL was a bit of negbait when I wrote this (since SXSW's picture still has the word "Austin" unredacted), and I thought maybe one or two people might bite on it.

Re: TD 374 - Cherry Blossom Festival (BONUSES AND FINAL RESULTS)

Post by SenseiCAY »

We had a couple of bonus opportunities here. On Q2, we asked for a Smithsonian museum or gallery on the National Mall, and for a bonus, to name as many as you could that were NOT on the Mall (risking a +1 penalty for each incorrect). The correct answers on this bonus are:
  • Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center (Chantilly, VA)
  • George Gustav Heye Center (NYC)
  • Cooper Hewitt Design Museum (NYC)
  • Anacostia Community Museum (Anacostia Neighborhood, DC)

On Q9, we asked you to name any celebrity who has been parodied as a contestant on SNL's Celebrity Jeopardy sketch. For a bonus, we asked you to name as many possible answers to this question as you can (including your answer to Q9). You will receive a bonus of -1 point for every 3 correct answers (rounded down, regardless of how many wrong answers you put down). The player with the most correct answers without a miss will receive an additional bonus of -5 points. The player with the second most will receive an additional bonus of -3 points.

If you put down a correct answer on Q9, your total number correct on this clue includes that answer, even if you didn't list it on the bonus. The following players received (or dropped, I guess...) at least one bonus point on this bonus:

Username (correct, incorrect = bonus)
---------------
