According to Baseball Reference, neither had an appearance as a pitcher.

T-Mobile and Sprint have agreed to merge. If the Trump administration approves the transaction, the merged company will be worth about $26.5 billion; and it would have more than 100 million subscribers, which would put it in the same league as AT&T and Verizon:

Gibson Brands, the parent company of Gibson Guitars, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. The company's brands also include Baldwin (pianos) and Wurlitzer. Its line of guitars includes Les Paul (who's come up on Jeopardy), SG, Flying V, Explorer, J-45, and Hummingbird.

Necco (New England Confectionary Company) the maker of Conversation Hearts/Sweethearts, Necco Wafers and other candy has appeared in previous J! clues. The company has been in financial problems and may soon be kaput. The Go Fund Me fundraiser is a little shy of the needed 20M with $4,320.00 :)

Get 'em while you can as people are hoarding and prices have been skyrocketing this month.

Does cheezguyty do sports? Albert Pujols (Angels) got his 3000th hit (off Mike Leake of Mariners) and the Dodgers (Buehler, Cingrani, Garcia and Liberatore) had a combined no-no against the Padres in Mexico. Have such fairly rare occurrences happened on the same day previously? The Dodger game was in Monterrey, Mexico to join Canada for countries outside the U.S. with a no-hit game.

ETA: MLB Network guys just said the combo of 3000th hit and no-hitter on same day is a first.

Pujols joins Mays, Aaron, and ARod for 3000 hits and 600 home runs. That's for Dan Patrick if Sports J! ever returns.

Next June, the Yankees and Red Sox will play two games in London's Olympic Stadium. These will be the first MLB games to be played in Europe:

Justify wins the 144th Kentucky Derby

The win marks the sixth consecutive year where the favorite has won the race despite this year’s field being seen as the most competitive in recent years.

First time since they were allowed to be used again, Houston Astros relief pitcher Collin McHugh used the Diamondbacks' Bullpen Cart.
It's also the first time the DBacks cart has ever been used (they became a team in 1998, three years after the cart was previously phased out)

Oliver North will become the new president of the National Rifle Association, succeeding Wayne LaPierre: https://www.cnn.com/2018/05/07/politics ... index.html

North is best known as the central figure in the Iran-Contra scandal of the 1980s. He was convicted of three felonies in connection with the scandal. However, the convictions were overturned on appeal because the evidence against him might have included testimony that he gave to a congressional committee while under a grant of immunity from prosecution (you might remember the famous photo of North, in uniform, being sworn in). North ran for the U.S. Senate from Virginia in 1994, but lost to incumbent Chuck Robb, son-in-law of Lyndon Johnson and husband of Lynda Johnson.

Can't argue with Pujols being above the fold for his feat especially with the no-no being the combined variety. Thanks for sharing.

There are more players in the 3,000-hit club (32) than combined no-hitters (12) in MLB history.

I can easily imagine a person at the start of their career thinking to themselves, "I want to get 3,000 hits," but I just don't see anyone ever thinking, "my pitching career would be so complete if I were only someday part of a combined no-hitter."

Yeah, above the fold for 3,000 hits was the correct choice.

Managers usually leave pitchers in when they have a no-hitter going, so they're more likely going to blow a no-hitter.

President Trump pulls US out of the nuclear deal with Iran, citing continuing efforts on Iran's part to develop such weapons and support for terrorist organizations such as Hezbollah and the continuing conflicts in Iraq, Syria and Yemen.

President Trump also specifically cited Israel's recently intelligence coup that indicated Iran was lying all along and repeatedly violating the deal. He withdraws despite a number of European diplomats trying to convince him to stay, including (interestingly enough) Boris Johnson.

French President Macron claims he will lead European countries with economic interests in Iran in continuing to hold up and bolster the deal.

To be clear, Israel's "coup" disclosed that Iran had a weapons program *prior* to the start of the agreement. None of their intelligence, or anyone else's, has suggested that Iran has pursued nuclear weapons since the inception of the agreement.
