Spoiler
3. Animated. Beauty and the Beast was the first animated film to be nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award. But that has nothing to do with this question. Give a 3 or 4 letter word using only the letters in “animated”. (The letter “a” appears twice, so you may use it twice. All other letters may only be used once.) I’ll use the SOWPODS English dictionary (commonly used for Scrabble) to determine if it is really a word.
Oh, good grief -- I eliminated words that were contained intact (mat, mate, mated, animate) and the one that's actually closely related to the original (anime) thinking "six someones are going to be clever and go for the obvious, so I'll avoid the sheep." Then only one of them was picked - by two people.

Why do I even bother? Oh -- only because it's so much fun.
Btw, if anyone is curious about what other words were possible or how many were, there are several online Scrabble word finders. Here's one - just type in the word "animated" and it will identify all Scrabble-legal words.
https://scrabblewordfinder.org/solver

(Also, fwiw, the question specified that the word had to have either 3 or 4 letters.)
You're right; I knew that when I entered but spaced it out responding to the reveal -- I was thinking "minimum" instead of "exactly". Thanks.
I'm not the defending Jeopardy! champion. But I have played one on TV.

Question 7 - Collective Nouns

This one was apparently the one to drop, with over 1/3 of the entrants choosing to use their drop.
Spoiler
7. Collective Nouns. Humans are funny. We like to put things into groups. For example, a group of cattle are called a herd of cattle. Here are some collective nouns. Give the animal that gathers into these groups. Some of these have more than one correct answer. Each answer will be scored separately. Please include the collective noun in your answer. So for “herd”, an answer in the correct format would be “herd of cattle”.

Question 8 - One of these things.
My idea here was that people who think different should be able to spot a difference. And you did. You found a couple of differences that I didn't notice, so I am scoring them separately. And one of you put me in a quandry - which I'll expound on at the end of scoring section.

I hope you enjoyed a slightly different kind of question.
Spoiler
8. One of These Things. Remember the song on Sesame Street that starts with, “One of these things is not like the others”? Here’s the grown-up version. Each of these photos has something that doesn’t belong or is out of place. Choose one photo and describe the item that is different or out of place. There is a letter in the bottom left corner of each photo. You must include that letter in your response. I’ll be as generous as I can in reading your description of the out-of-place item.

And the problem child is floridagator. His actual response was: The Granny Smith are different because the other two caused a snit in my recent TD, "Classic Area Codes 5xx". I also promised to read the responses generously. You can't come up with this response just by looking at the image, but it is correct if you follow our TD games here. So I am refusing to accept it as a singleton. I also don't want to include it with the others who found Mike Wazowski and add an additional point to their scores. So I have decided to give floridagator 8 points as if he had a correct answer along with the others answering that clue.

I don't want this to devolve into a big back-and-forth discussion. After all, this is just a game with no real consequences. So please don't let this decision get divisive.

Back to a lighter note. No one chose to identify the duck (or goose) standing on one leg in the middle of the flamingos.

Definitely lower than I planned, but there's a reason for that. One that involves a first time host and some stupidity.

I'll explain that once I'm done with the reveal. Kind of a "lessons learned" moment for future hosts.

Question 11 - Name a cabinet department

We managed to find all 15 current departments. I did get an inquiry about former cabinet departments, but no one chose to go there, so I didn't get caught in yet another first-timer's failure to completely peg the question. In hindsight, since I filed to limit it to the current departments, I would have accepted a former department. Another lesson learned.

Thanks to everyone for entering my first TD. I think I accomplished my goal of keeping it simple. We had only two wrong answers in the whole quiz - both of which were probably failures to fully read the question. Not a single person used a sheep response.

I had a lot of fun with this, and I hope that you did as well.
