I also need to give a shout out to SenseiCAY for reading my draft questions and giving feedback on them. I appreciate his help.

I knew oboe would sheep, but I needed the sheep insurance more for the animal groups question. (Speaking of sheep insurance, that was a really cool wrinkle to this TD.)

Prompted to name a woodwind, the answer is always oboe, and I don’t know why. It certainly isn’t the most prominent instrument in contemporary music, and there are no famous oboists; the only person I know of who plays the oboe was a porn actress.

It's the double-reed thing; it differentiates it.9021amyers wrote: ↑Mon May 14, 2018 10:19 am

Wow! It's been a while since I've even made a podium, let alone taken the top spot. Thanks for hosting this, Peter, and congratulations to my fellow podiumites.

Thanks for hosting (and letting me play)!
I loved the sheep insurance option and if you don't mind, I might add it to a future game of mine - it really is a cool little wrinkle.

How do I put this delicately? It would appear that having a preview of the questions didn't provide any advantage - at least this time.
I would be flattered if anyone chose to copy the idea.I loved the sheep insurance option and if you don't mind, I might add it to a future game of mine - it really is a cool little wrinkle.

Eh, I just think it’s because “oboe” is a great crossword filler word, so trivia buffs are overexposed to it.Saturnalia wrote: ↑Mon May 14, 2018 10:33 amIt's the double-reed thing; it differentiates it.9021amyers wrote: ↑Mon May 14, 2018 10:19 am

Looks like the sheep insurance did nothing to change my final standing - but I'm psyched my bet paid off! Great idea as a whole.
Echoing the thanks of others for a well-done TD, Peter. Hope to see another sometime!
