I could point to the spot on the map, and I've heard of Harper's Ferry, but I didn't connect the two.

Ugh, completely skunked FJ this week! First time that has happened in what, forever? I attribute it to spending about 98% of my brain cycles trying to buy a house.

I remember Harper's Ferry from school history books, but I don't remember it ever being discussed in any depth. I thought it was a boat. Pun not intended, but I'll take credit (or blame).

I also checked the Box Of Shame, even though I wasn't buying a house. :)

Did not understand that Harpers Ferry was an armory. No real chance there. Got Pushkin on a lucky (if educated) guess. Got Phobos and Deimos off the moons of Mars angle.

Took too long on the Dong clue. Realized that had to be Vietnam right before the buzzer. I'm always a little unsure whether Vietnam's capital is Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City. It's weird that the city they renamed after glorious leader isn't the capital city.

Yikes! Guessed Valley Forge, Tolstoy, and couldn't remember Deimos. I knew Tolstoy was too late, but Pushkin wasn't coming to me...
If I'd remembered King John, it more likely would have been from history, not Robin Hood
Should have gotten Morpheus too, another memory lapse...
Saw both movies when they came out, last year's related FJ was far more important in getting it right. Something I did remember!... :)

Hypnos for the sleep god after dithering about Lethe. Correctly rejected Lethe, incorrectly landed on Hypnos.
I knew it wasn't Hypnos, but thinking about the possibility caused me to come up with no answer on that one. Mostly because of my love of HP Lovecraft's story of the same name.

The national historical site is truly beautiful. My in-laws live in Maryland and last time I visited, we took a day trip out there. The Appalachian Trail also passes through there.

I'm not sure whether it was just inelegant phrasing on your part, but Harpers Ferry is the town in which the armory was located. The armory was called the United States Armory and Arsenal at Harpers Ferry.

No traction Monday or Tuesday. I watched many of these episodes while very tired, including Friday's, when I got the "hard" part of the clue and identified the movies and the actor but couldn't pull his name.
